Alternate Schedules. Employees who have requested or chosen to work alternate schedules who are normally scheduled to work more than eight (8) hours on a day observed as a holiday may use vacation leave, compensatory time, or leave without pay to make up the difference between the employee’s normally scheduled shift and the eight (8) hours of holiday pay. Full-time employees who are required by the University to work a schedule other than eight (8) hours will be paid at their straight time rate for the hours they are scheduled to work on that day.
Alternate Schedules. The parties agree to amend ARTICLE 37. HOURS AND WORK SCHEDULES (OMS) and ARTICLE 37.
Alternate Schedules a. Upon the recommendation of a department head, flex-time, job-sharing and voluntary reduced work hour’s programs may be established, after consultation with the Director of Human Resources and the Association. Any job-sharing program will require that the benefits be pro-rated or as otherwise mutually agreed upon by both parties in writing.
b. Should the County elect to eliminate an existing special schedule, it will notify the Association and provide opportunity for the Association to meet and confer on the impact of the decision.
c. Alternate work schedules may include 9/80 schedules, 4/10 schedules, and/or other alternative scheduling patterns. Individuals assigned to such schedules shall accrue leaves and holidays on the same basis as employees working the standard 5/8 work schedule; that is, eight (8) hours per day. Employees shall be charged time off based on the number of hours in the workday missed.
Alternate Schedules. Alternate schedules of work consistent with State and Federal laws may be established by mutual written agreement between the Employer and the Union. This section applies may apply to work schedules of an individual employee or a department.

Except as provided herein individuals assigned to such schedules shall accrue leaves and holidays on the same basis as employees working the standard 5/8 work schedule; that is, 8 hours per day. Employees shall be charged time off based on the number of hours in the work day missed. In determining which employees are entitled to alternative schedules, the Appointing Authority shall take into account job classification and required skills. In the event all other things are equal; seniority shall be the determining factor. Determination as to the quality of skills shall be made in the sole discretion of the Appointing Authority.
Alternate Schedules. Some positions within the bargaining unit may be placed on an alternate schedule to meet operational needs. If more than one position exists at a work site, volunteers will be sought first. Provided the volunteer is qualified to perform all required duties of the job, the volunteer with the most classification seniority will be placed on the alternate schedule. If there are no volunteers, the employee with the least job classification seniority will be placed on the alternate schedule, provided he/she is qualified to perform all of the requirements of the job. Positions will be placed on alternate schedules at the discretion of the site administrator. An employee placed on an alternate schedule shall be notified in writing as soon as possible prior to the end of the preceding school year, but no later than twenty (20) days prior to the first contract day of the school year. Employees will be required to sign paperwork acknowledging they have been informed of the placement on an alternate schedule.

Alternate Schedules. The General Manager, or his/her designee, may authorize flexible work schedules with different starting and ending times, provided it does not interfere with the regular workload of the District. The General Manager, or designee, can also require employees to vary their workday hours when needed for operational or other business purposes.
