Employment Standards Leaves. Employees are entitled to other leaves under the Alberta Employment Standards Code, as amended from time to time. These leaves will be provided in accordance with the rules and conditions provided in the legislation.

For information purposes only, these were the wage rates under the expired Collective Agreement. The Employer and the Union agree that the group life insurance plan shall be governed by the terms and conditions set forth below.

Employment Standards Leaves.
20.01 Any and all leaves provided for under the Employment Standards Act, 2000, as amended from time to time, will be granted in accordance with the Act unless a greater right or benefit exists under the Collective Agreement, in which case this Collective Agreement shall prevail.
Employment Standards Leaves. Part 6 of the Employment Standards Act of BC contains additional employee leaves not specifically mentioned in the Collective Agreement, which Employees are entitled to take in accordance with the Employment Standards Act of BC. Included in the above reference are leaves associated with Domestic Violence. An Employee is entitled to such leaves if an Employee or the Employee’s child has experienced domestic violence or sexual violence in accordance with the Employment Standards Act of BC. Application for such leaves shall be made to the Board.

There are currently a variety of job-protected leaves under the Employment Standards Act, as may be amended from time-to- time, including, but not limited to: • Leave Respecting the Disappearance of a Child • Leave Respecting the Death of a Child • Leave respecting domestic or sexual violence • Critical Illness Leave • Compassionate Care Leave The Employer will provide such leaves in accordance with the employment standards act and its applicable terms. Seniority and service will accrue as required under the Employment Standards Act. The Employer shall maintain the employee’s benefits coverage during Employment Standards leaves in the same manner as if the employee was at work.

Employment Standards Leaves. The Employer will permit such leaves in accordance with the terms set out in the Employment Standards Act, as if may be amended from time to time. Any staff member who feels they might be eligible for any of the above leaves should contact the General Manager. Seniority and service will accrue if and as required under the
Employment Standards Leaves. (a) Employees are entitled to access job-protected leaves as indicated under the Alberta Employment Standards Code, including:
(i) Critical illness of an adult,
(ii) Critical illness of a child,
(iii) Death or disappearance of a child,
(iv) Domestic Violence,
(v) Personal and family responsibility,
(vi) Reservist,
(vii) Long-term illness and injury,
(viii) Any other leave indicated by the Code.
(b) A job-protected leave means that an employee will not lose their position or placement, seniority will continue to accrue throughout the length of the leave, and all seniority-based provisions of this Collective Agreement will include time on a job-protected leave.
Employment Standards Leaves a. Teachers are entitled to pregnancy, parental, family responsibility, reservists, compassionate care, jury duty, and bereavement leaves, in accordance with the provincial Employment Standards Act, as amended from time to time.
b. Continuing Teachers are entitled to bereavement leave in accordance with the Employment Standards Act, except that bereavement leave for Continuing Teachers will be with pay.
