HOURS OF WORK AND OVERTIME PAY. 601 Section 1 - Normal Workday/Workweek 602 This Section is intended to define the normal hours of work and shall not be construed as a guarantee of hours of work per day or per week, or of days of work per week.
HOURS OF WORK AND OVERTIME PAY. 19.01 Eight hours (seven hours work, plus rest periods or lunch time) shall constitute a day’s work and five (5) eight (8) hour days shall constitute a week’s work. Where shifts are necessary, they will be rotated whenever possible as a plant policy. All work in excess of eight (8) hours in any one day, or in excess of forty (40) hours in any one week shall be paid for at the rate of time and one-half. Any work in excess of eleven (11) hours in one day shall be paid at the rate of double time. In a calendar week in which one or more plant holidays is observed, the number of days in that week which may be worked at straight time shall be reduced by the number of such holidays (as listed in Section 20). On behalf of the employees the Union consents to the following hours of work. At the Company’s discretion and upon one week’s notice to employees, the Company may schedule employees to work 41 hours in a week. This right may be exercised to hold meetings with employees and shall be limited to 15 meetings per employee per year, effective January 1, 2009. Where the Company schedules employees on the 41 hour work week, under no circumstances will overtime be paid for the 41 scheduled hours worked in that week pursuant to this provision. The extra hour, when scheduled, will generally be used for training, education and/or communication. Effective January 1, 2009 a representative of the Union will be allowed 10 minutes during the meeting (not to exceed 15 meetings per year) to address employees provided that he/she submits agenda items for discussion to the Line Manager the week before the meeting is held and such agenda items are approved by the Department Head.
19.02 Hours of work in the Brewing Department, Plant Services, Maintenance Mechanics and Shipping and Receiving Departments, must necessarily fluctuate with Production and Processing requirements. The objective of the Company shall be to schedule as many employees as possible on five (5) consecutive days in each week. Saturday will be a premium day with pay at the rate of time and one-half for all hours worked.
19.03 For production employees in the Packaging Department and Truck Drivers, other than Highway, the work week shall consist of five (5) eight (8) hour days Monday to Friday, (C, A or B shift) and any work performed on Saturday will be paid for at the rate of time and one-half.

When employees are assigned overtime, there shall be additional coffee breaks every two hours, with the first break scheduled for the 10th hour. The Employer will ensure that each site is provided with a facility specifically designated as a lunchroom and a clean bathroom facility.

It shall not be construed by the Union or any of its members as limiting or guaranteeing the number of hours to be worked by an individual employee or group of employees per day or per week.

10.07 The Employer will ensure that each site is provided with a facility specifically designated as a lunchroom and a clean bathroom facility.
10.08 When employees are assigned overtime, there shall be an additional coffee break every two hours, with the first break scheduled for the eight 8th hour of work. The Employer shall provide a hot meal, or an additional half hour’s wage at straight time rates, to any employee who works more than two (2) hours of daily overtime beyond his normal work shift.

HOURS OF WORK AND OVERTIME PAY. 1. The Co-operative and the Union agree that the standard work day shall consist of eight (8) hours, broken only by a lunch period not exceeding one (1) hour. 2. The standard work week shall consist of forty (40) hours within any five (5) days, Sunday to Saturday inclusive.
3. The individual employee's hours of work shall be set forth in a schedule which will be posted by noon Friday for the next two (2) weeks. No changes will be made to the employee's schedule by the employer or the employee without twenty-four (24) hours prior notice unless mutually agreed to between the employee and the employer. Part-time employees who have requested and who are granted time off prior to the posting of the work schedule shall not have their hours of work for the week reduced as a result of the granting of the request. It shall be optional for the employer to reduce the hours or days for any request made and granted after the posting of the work schedule.
4. The Co-operative and the Union agree that the schedule shall not be used as a tool for discipline. The Co-op will continue the existing practice of equal rotation of shifts by seniority when creating the bi-weekly schedule.
(a) Time worked in excess of forty (40) hours in a week or eight (8) hours in a day shall be considered as overtime and paid at the rate of one and one-half times the employee’s regular rate of pay.
(b) Time and one-half shall be paid for all work performed on a holiday (those listed under 5(a) of this Article) together with such holiday pay as the individual employee may be entitled to under the terms of this Collective Agreement.
(a) The following days shall be paid holidays for all employees who are actively on the payroll in the week previous to the week in which the holiday occurs: New Year's Day, Family Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Civic Day,Labour Day, Thanksgiving, Remembrance Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and any other holidays proclaimed by the Federal, Provincial or Civic Governments and generally observed by the retail business in Pincher Creek, Alberta.
