CLASSIFICATIONS & RATES OF PAY. Employees will be classified and progress through the classifications at the discretion of the employer. Employees will carry out duties incidental and peripheral to their main tasks within their skills and competencies. Level 1 Initial engagement may be as an inexperienced Level 1 employee. An employee will remain as an inexperienced level 1 employee until the employee has gained competency in the tasks and duties of this level. The employer shall determine competency. An employee at this level: • Will have had an industry approved induction; • Works under general supervision and may be part of a team; • Works from instructions and procedures; • Is responsible for the quality of his/her own work; • Assists in the provision of on-the-job training to a limited degree; • Basic material handling functions; • Operates small plant and machinery; • Operates a range of hand tools. An employee at this level may be undergoing training on vehicles, plant and machinery to gain competencies so as to progress to Level 2. Level 2 The employer will determine advancement to this level. Advancement will require an employee to demonstrate to the satisfaction of the employer that the employee has the required competence and experience to operate vehicles, plant and machinery associated with the company’s business. An employee at this level: • Carries out tasks and duties associated with Level 1; • Exercises skills and competencies attained through on the job training or has skills and competencies recognised by the employer for this classification; • Operates and maintains plant and machinery; • Holds a HR vehicle licence and operates a truck; • Understands and implements quality control techniques; • Works under limited supervision either individually or in a team; • Supervises up to 3 Level 1employees; • Provides training, guidance and assistance as part of a work team; • Exercises advanced skills relevant to the specific requirements of the business.
CLASSIFICATIONS & RATES OF PAY. 7.01 Wage schedules applicable to various job classifications are as set forth on Schedule A.

CLASSIFICATIONS & RATES OF PAY and Pay Progressions All positions covered by this Agreement shall be classified by the Board and such classifications along with the minimum, maximum and intervening salary rates for each such classification shall be set out in Exhibit A to this Agreement. Upon the successful completion of twelve months of service (2080 hours of work), employees shall be eligible to be considered for advancement to the next higher step within the pay range for their classification, except as otherwise noted in Exhibit A. Such step increases may be withheld or delayed in cases where the employee's job performance has been of a less than satisfactory level. Annual performance evaluations will be conducted in a timely manner so employees who‌ receive satisfactory evaluations will receive their scheduled step increases on their anniversary dates. If an employee's performance evaluation is not performed in a timely manner, then the employee's step increase following a satisfactory performance evaluation shall be retroactive to the employee's anniversary date.
