Paid Sick Leave Benefits. A-2.01 A paid sick leave benefit shall accrue to each full-time employee and to each eligible part-time employee at the rate of four (4) hours for each one hundred and seventy- three (173) hours worked and/or paid until a maximum of four hundred (400) hours has been accrued. Said employees shall be entitled to use such accrued sick leave for any non-occupational sickness and/or accident that is not covered by the long term disability insurance benefits provided by the Co-operative, and such sick leave shall be paid for at the rate of one hundred (100%) percent of the employee’s regular hourly rate of pay for each hour of such absence. Sick Leave terminates when the Long Term Disability Plan becomes effective. Part-time employees shall begin accruing paid sick leave entitlements as soon as they have completed one year of employment from their date of last hire. A-2.02 The paid sick leave benefits referred to in Appendix A-2.01 above are only intended to be used in cases of legitimate illness and/or accident. G-2.06 In order to qualify for sick pay, employees must notify their department manager or, in their absence, another member of the management team, or the next highest ranking employee available prior to the starting time or as soon as possible on the first day of absence. Paid Sick Leave Benefits. A-1.01 Paid sick leave benefit shall accrue to each employee at the rate of eight (8) hours for each two hundred and forty (240) hours worked and/or paid until a maximum of two hundred and forty (240) hours has been accrued.
Paid Sick Leave Benefits. A-2.01 Paid sick benefits shall accrue to each employee at the rate of one
(1) day per full month of continuous service until a maximum of fifteen (15) days has been accrued. Employees shall not be entitled to cash in unused sick leave credits when terminating their employment with the Co-operative.
A-2.02 Employees shall be entitled to utilize accumulated paid sick leave benefits for medical appointments that require the attention of a medical specialist, family related leave as outlined in 19.08 and in cases of actual sickness and/or injury. Employees are required to enter the general nature of such medical appointments, sickness and/or injury on their time sheet. The Co-operative reserves the right to require a medical certificate confirming the medical appointment, illness and/or injury. The Co- operative shall pay the costs of obtaining any such medical certificate.

Employees who have completed six (6) consecutive months of employment shall accrue a paid sick leave benefit at the rate of four (4) hours for each one hundred and sixty (160) hours paid to a maximum of two hundred and eight (208) hours. Accumulated sick leave pay shall apply from the first day of illness or accident and shall be paid for at the rate of one hundred (100%) per cent of the employees regular hourly rate of pay for each hour of such absence. Employees are not required to bring doctors’ note unless requested by management to do so. The Employer will only reimburse the costs of doctors’ notes that management has requested the employee to provide to them.
Paid Sick Leave Benefits. 18.01 All full-time employees governed by this Agreement who have been in the employ of the Employer for one (1) continuous year or more as of January 1 of each year shall be entitled to a maximum of ten (10) paid sick days per year, five (5) of which will be advanced and up to five (5) of which will be earned at the rate of one (1) paid sick day per month for each month during which they are not absent due to illness. Any employee who quits or is terminated prior to having earned the advanced five (5) days will have their final pay adjusted. All accrued, unused sick days accumulated in the calendar year will be paid out in February of the following calendar year.
18.02 Full-time employees with less than twelve (12) months' employment shall earn, beginning with the fourth (4th) month of employment, one (1) paid sick day per month during the first calendar year of employment for each month during which they are not absent due to illness.
18.03 Sick days may be used for personal reasons. Time off requested for medical and/or dental appointments will be granted provided the employee gives the Employer at least forty-eight (48) hours’ written notice. It is further understood that on occasion forty-eight (48) hours’ notice may not be possible, which will be dealt with on a case by case basis. In the event of an illness or injury occurring to an employee's spouse (including common law or same sex partner), parent or child that requires the attention of a physician, the employee may utilize accumulated paid sick leave entitlements. The purpose of this leave shall be to enable the employee to attend to the needs of themselves or their ailing spouse (including common law or same sex partner), parent or child. Time off requested for such purpose may be granted provided the employee gives the Employer at least thirty-six (36) hours’ written notice. It is further understood that on occasion thirty-six (36) hours’ notice may not be possible, which will be dealt with on a case by case basis.
18.04 Once a part-time employee works eight hundred (800) hours in a calendar year, they will be entitled to three (3) sick days. Once a part-time employee works two thousand (2000) hours in a calendar year, they be entitled to two (2) additional sick days. The employee will have the option of accumulating unused days or receiving a pay out in February of the following calendar year.
