Leave for Personal Business. 13.08.1 Exclusive of absence due to sickness, the Board will grant three (3) personal leave days annually without loss of salary, experience, seniority, or benefits to a Teacher, upon request to the Principal.
13.08.2 Whenever possible, five (5) days notice shall be given.
13.08.3 Except for unusual circumstances, personal leave days shall not be used immediately preceding or immediately following school breaks – Christmas and March Break.
Leave for Personal Business. 1. At the beginning of each fiscal year, all full-time employees shall be credited with three (3) days of personal leave as specified below:
a) Those ten (10), eleven (11) and twelve (12) month employees commencing work at the beginning of the fiscal year shall be credited with three (3) personal leave days a year at the beginning of their work year.
b) Those ten (10), eleven (11) and twelve (12) month employees commencing work after the start of the work year will be immediately credited with one (1) day of personal leave for each three (3) remaining months of their work year to a maximum of three (3).
c) Personal business leave shall not exceed three (3) days per year. Unused days shall be added to personal sick leave accumulation at the end of each school year.
2. Employees will be granted such leave for personal business which would otherwise create a hardship failing such leave. The employee is to use his/her best efforts to schedule personal business matters at times outside of the normal workday.
3. Generally, personal business leaves will not be approved for days immediately preceding or following a scheduled holiday period except in extraordinary cases where the need for such leave could not have been known in advance or where the personal business could not be scheduled during the holiday. In these cases, the employee shall be required to provide the Director of Personnel with the specific reason for the personal business leave request and, if requested by the Administration, supporting information concerning the request for leave.
4. Although not all inclusive, personal business leave shall not be utilized for the purpose of engaging in other gainful employment, a "day off," vacation extensions or travel before or after scheduled holiday or vacation periods. Personal business leave shall not be used for purposes of attending to activities on behalf of COMBO.
Leave for Personal Business. 16:15.1 An employee may utilize one-half (1/2) day total accumulated sick leave credit each calendar year for personal business leave. Such time may be granted in portions not to exceed one-half (1/2) day total.
16:15.2 For the purposes of this article, Personal Business Leave shall be defined as medical, dental, legal/financial appointments, family matters, or bereavement not covered under Article 16:10, where such business cannot be conducted outside the employee’s regular hours of work.
16:15.3 The employee must apply, in writing, to his/her supervisor with a copy to the Human Resources Department with reasonable notice prior to the time requested, stating the reasons for the request. Approval of such requests will be subject to work schedules and continuity and stability in the assignment.
16:15.3.1 In the event notice cannot be given, the employee shall advise his/her supervisor prior to leaving the worksite and shall submit confirmation of the request upon return. The problem must be one of major importance not a mere convenience.
16:15.4 It is not the intent of this provision to provide extension of vacations and/or holidays. If, however, due to factors outside the employee’s control, the leave for personal business is required immediately preceding or following a vacation and/or holiday, then such leave shall be granted provided the provisions of this article are adhered to.
16:15.5 Employees working less than 1.0 FTE will be granted such leave on a pro rata basis. Leave shall not be granted if an employee has depleted his/her accumulated sick leave credits.
Leave for Personal Business a) All employees, excepting those in emergency, per diem or temporary status shall be permitted 3 personal days off each calendar year with pay. Such personal days may be used for such occurrences as observance of religious holidays, Christmas shopping, absence due to severe weather conditions, or for other similar personal reasons, but shall not be used to extend a holiday or annual leave except as permitted in advance by the operating agency through prior written approval. Employees entitled to receive such leave who enter service during the year shall be given credit for such leave at the rate of 1/2 day for each 2 months service for the calendar year in which hired. Such personal leave may not be used in increments of less than two (2) hours at a time. Except for those emergency situations which preclude the making of prior arrangements, such days off shall be scheduled sufficiently in advance to be consistent with operating needs of the Employer.
b) Personal leave shall not accumulate from calendar year to calendar year; nor shall any employee be entitled to payment for unused personal leave upon separation from the service except as provided in Section 8c(2) of the Personnel Code.
Leave for Personal Business. 16:15.1 An employee may utilize one‐half (1/2) day total accumulated sick leave credit each calendar year for personal business leave. Such time may be granted in portions not to exceed one‐half (1/2) day total.
Leave for Personal Business. Employees may use a maximum of two scheduled workdays per school term at full salary for conducting personal business. Those employed after the beginning of their normal contract year will have available personal leave computed at time of employment. Except as authorized in subsection 8.2.2, such leave shall not be accumulated. However, full or half days of unused personal business leave will be added to the Employee's accumulated paid sick leave as of July 1.
8.2.1 An Employee may use personal business leave for the purpose of attending to personal, legal, household or family matters that require absence during normal working hours. Normally, such leave shall be taken for either one-half or all of the normal scheduled work day; however, an Employee may use such leave in time amounts of less than one-half day pursuant to established administrative procedures.
8.2.2 An employee shall be granted personal leave at the rate of two (2) days for a full school term of employment, and such leave days shall be available on the first normal scheduled workday of such school term. On July 1 of each school year, full and/or one- half (1/2) days of such leave not used during the preceding school term will be added to the Employee’s accumulated paid sick leave. Upon the tenth (10th) year of employment in the District, Employees may accumulate a maximum of three (3) personal days.
8.2.3 A new Employee employed after the first day of the school term shall be granted such leave at the rate of one-half (1/2) day for each remaining full forty-six (46) normal scheduled workday period of the normal scheduled workdays specified in Article 6.1 of this Agreement, and such leave days shall be available on the Employee’s first scheduled workday. Such leave shall not be accumulated from year to year; however, on July 1 of each school year full and/or one-half (1/2) days of such leave not used during the preceding school term will be added to the Employee’s accumulated paid sick leave.
8.2.4 A request for personal leave shall be submitted in advance utilizing the accepted method by the District. Such submission shall be submitted two (2) days in advance of the leave, except when circumstances prevent giving such advance notice. No reason other than “personal business” is to be required when requesting personal leave, except when personal leave is being requested for an excluded date as described in 8.2.5.
Leave for Personal Business. 1. Personal leave allowance shall be credited on the first (1st) day of the school year each year, except in the case of a first (1st) year teacher, in which case the total annual paid allowance will accumulate at the rate of one-half (1/2) day per month of service. Upon written notification made in advance, except in last minute emergency situations, the Superintendent shall approve absence for personal business reasons not to exceed five (5) days in any one (1) year without loss of pay.
2. The intent of this section on personal business absence is to provide for the unusual or urgent type of personal business that cannot be attended to other than on the day or at the time that the staff member is expected to be on duty and that cannot be classified under any other absence type provisions. It is not the intent of this policy to provide for personal absences of a purely social nature. Requests for leave for religious reasons and requests for leave on a regular school day prior to or succeeding a stated holiday, or recess period must be submitted at least five (5) days in advance, with reason to the Superintendent for prior approval. As a rule, the day immediately preceding or following a holiday or recess period will not be approved for a leave for personal business. However, permission may be granted by the Superintendent in exceptional or emergency cases. If the Superintendent does not approve a day immediately preceding or following a holiday/recess, he/she may grant the day as a leave of absence without pay.
3. As personal business days, such are not cumulative except that any unused personal business days each year shall be credited to the cumulative sick leave allowance to which the teacher is entitled at the beginning of the succeeding school year.
4. At the beginning of each school year the Superintendent and P.A.C. will convene and review the use of personal business days with the general membership. The review will include a listing of the appropriate reasons for use of personal business days.
Leave for Personal Business. A House Staff Officer shall be entitled to two (2) day’s leave with pay during the period of July 1st to the next succeeding June 30th for the purpose of conducting personal business. All personal leave days must be scheduled in advance of taking of same and approved by the Employer. Requests for Leave for Personal Business shall not be unreasonably denied. Emergent Requests will be considered and not unreasonably denied. Scheduled and approved personal leave days will not be unreasonably canceled or postponed. If a personal day is not used during the period of July 1st to June 30th, then the right to the day shall be lost. Release time for up to two (2) delegates or two (2) alternate delegates to attend the CIR convention in May shall not be unreasonably denied. Release time for one alternate delegate to attend the May CIR convention may be granted subject to prior employer approval.
Leave for Personal Business. An employee may request an unpaid leave of absence for personal business reasons. The employee shall notify the District of such request at least forty-eight (48) hours prior to the date of the requested leave. The granting of the request for the leave is discretionary with the District Superintendent/designee.
