Personal and Family Leave. An employee will be granted leave of absence with pay to a maximum of three (3) working days a year for purposes of attending to the issues of the employee’s family. All such paid leave to be deducted from the employee’s accumulated sick leave credits.

Personal and Family Leave. (a) An employee shall be allowed five (5) leave days per contract year for personal and family business (pro rata as to part-time employees). (b) A new employee shall receive the following personal and family leave: a. One (1) leave day at the beginning of the new appointment. and b. An additional day for each quarter year worked of the new 12 month appointments. i. For example: One (1) day for September through November, December through February, March through May, June through August. c. An additional day every two months worked for new 10 month appointments. i. For example: One (1) day for September through October, November through December, January through February, and March through April. (c) Personal and family leave time must be reported to the supervisor. Whenever possible, the employee will notify the supervisor twenty-four (24) hours in advance of the leave. (d) Personal and family leave days will not accrue, but if not used during the contract year will accrue to the employee's annual sick leave. (e) All bargaining unit members are encouraged to attend Fall Day and Mid-Winter Day.
Personal and Family Leave. An employee shall make every possible effort to arrange personal medical and dental appointments during off duty hours. If an employee is unable to arrange such an appointment during off duty hours, they may make arrangements with their immediate Supervisor, to cover this time with Personal Leave as noted below. Employees who have passed probation, and who are scheduled to work sixteen (16) hours per week on a regular basis or more, shall be entitled to up to two (2) days leave of absence per calendar year without loss of pay for personal reasons. Such reasons may include personal medical and dental appointments as noted above, unanticipated child care arrangements or household emergencies. Where possible, employees shall apply for this as far in advance as practical.
Personal and Family Leave. Full-time and part-time employees shall be entitled to twenty-four (24) hours of paid leave and twenty-four (24) hours of unpaid leave, for a total of forty-eight (48) hours of leave, to be taken in full days or fractions of a day, to attend to personal matters. If using the leave to attend appointments, such as dentist appointments, doctor’s appointments, etc., it is expected that employees will make best efforts to book these appointments outside working hours whenever possible. Personal and Family Leave. (a) For the purpose of this clause, family member is defined as spouse (or common-law spouse residing with the employee), dependent children (including stepchildren or xxxx and xxxxxx children), the employee’s or spouse’s parents (including step-parents or xxxxxx parents), or other relative who is permanently residing in the employee’s household or with whom the employee permanently resides. (b) Employees may take personal and family leave for the following purposes: (i) treating the employee's illness or injury; (ii) carrying out responsibilities related to the health or care of any of the employee's family members; (iii) for needs directly related to the birth or to the adoption of the employee’s child. This leave may be divided into two (2) periods and granted on separate non-consecutive days; (iv) carrying out responsibilities related to the education of any of the employee's family members who are under twenty-one (21) years of age; (v) addressing any urgent matter concerning the employee or the employee's family members; (vi) attending the employee's citizenship ceremony under the Citizenship Act; and (vii) reasons of a personal nature. An employee requesting leave under this provision must notify the immediate Manager of the appointment as soon in advance as possible. (c) The total leave which may be granted to full-time employees other than those employed in continuous operations, under Articles 25.02(b)(i), (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) shall not exceed thirty-seven decimal five (37.5) hours in a fiscal year. The total leave which may be granted to full-time employees employed in continuous operations, under Articles 25.02(b)(i), (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) shall not exceed forty (40) hours in a fiscal year. Where a fulltime employee works for less than a full year, leave entitlement shall be prorated. Part-time employees shall be eligible for leave on a prorated basis. Part-time employees will be paid for the equivalent of their first three days (converted into hours) of leave taken in a year pursuant to 25.02(b). Full-time employees other than those employed in continuous operations will be paid for thirty-seven decimal five (37.5) hours of leave taken in a fiscal year. Full- time employees employed in continuous operations will be paid for forty (40) hours of leave taken in a fiscal year. Personal and Family Leave. 12.1 Family Related Leave (Effective September 1, 2015)
Personal and Family Leave. 34.1 The Personal & Family Leave scheme is a voluntary scheme available to all permanent Employees covered by this Agreement who have been continuously employed for a period of twelve (12) months who wish to extend their leave options for personal reasons or to meet family responsibilities. 34.2 The terms and conditions of the Personal & Family Leave scheme are listed below and also subject to policy. 34.3 The additional four (4) weeks personal and family leave provided under this scheme will not attract leave loading. 34.4 Employees wishing to participate in this scheme must submit an application to their manager with a minimum twelve (12) months notice. The application must stipulate the dates the leave is required. 34.5 Employees are required to re-apply annually if they wish to participate in the scheme. 34.6 Employees who wish to participate in this scheme will have monies deducted each fortnight over the preceding twelve month period to pay for their personal and family leave. Money deducted will be ordinary hours after all penalties and overtime have been calculated. There will be no reduction in the hourly rate of pay.

Such leave shall be requested in writing with as much advance notice as possible and will not be unreasonably with held. Employees may elect to have this time paid through the use of earned vacation entitlement, banked time, or the employee may make up the time by mutual agreement between the employee and the Foundation.
