PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT. The Board will provide for the allocation of financial resources to support professional development to the extent required by State law and the State Board of Education evaluation framework.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT. Mater recognises the importance of professionally developing Employees whilst balancing the need to maintain patient/business imperatives.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT. Prior to being evaluated under this MOU, the District shall provide professional development relevant to the framework and evaluation process for all teachers. Such professional development shall be provided on Professional Development Wednesdays throughout the school year. Each employee within twenty (20) workdays of employment or within twenty (20) workdays from the commencement of the school year, whichever is later, shall be given a copy of the evaluation criteria, procedures, and any relevant forms or screenshots appropriate to the teacher’s position and track in the evaluation cycle. No teacher shall be evaluated by an evaluator who has not been trained in observation, evaluation, and the use of the specific instructional framework and rubrics contained in this agreement and any relevant state or federal requirements. Teachers who attend District scheduled meetings or in-services for PGESP outside of the workday will be compensated at curriculum rate. Two teachers (one elementary and one secondary) will be hired to act as mentors and trainers for the cohort. These positions shall continue and provided stipends as per the Supplemental Salary Schedule.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT. 6.1.1 Permanent full-time and part-time Employees will be eligible to apply for Professional Development Support. All employees are eligible to access this avenue to further their professional development.
6.1.2 Professional Development Support may be in the form of payment for costs and expenses associated with undertaking professional development.
6.1.3 The Employee is able to submit such an application to the Mater Staff Education Fund. Applications will be assessed based on the following criteria:
(a) available budget; and
(b) demonstrable benefits to Mater; and
(c) benefits to the Employee and relevance to their current role.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT. ACER may, at the discretion of the CEO, grant study leave and/or fee support where the following criteria are met:
(a) the course is directly relevant to the work of the employee at ACER; or
(b) the course, while not being directly relevant to the work of the employee, is related to the work of ▇▇▇▇ and is important to the career development of the employee.
(a) where the course meets criterion (a) above up to full fee support may be granted
(b) where the course meets criterion (b) above partial fee support may be granted The CEO shall determine if fee support will be granted, and the extent of support, on the basis of the above criteria and the availability of funds.
(a) Paid study leave to a maximum of five hours per week for travel to and attendance at mandatory supervised study activities which are not available outside working hours;
(b) Leave to attend supervised study activities (e.g. practical work), with fluctuating weekly attendance requirements to the extent of the total of any paid study leave not availed of within the limit of five hours per week;
(c) Leave to attend compulsory full-time segments or part-time or correspondence courses on an on-duty basis to the extent of the total of any paid study leave not availed of within the limit of five hours per week;
(d) Paid study leave up to five days per year; and
(e) Leave on a make-up basis, annual leave or leave without pay for supervised study activities. ACER may require proof of study activities, exams or other compulsory activities when approving study leave and/or fee support.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT. 68.1. The Secretary may approve reimbursement of reasonable costs associated with professional membership or accreditation where it is deemed necessary for the employee to effectively undertake his or her role. This may include membership/accreditation fees and/or training.
68.2. The Secretary may approve reimbursement of some of the costs associated with undertaking tertiary study and/or grant paid or unpaid leave for the purposes of completing tertiary study. Further information is contained in the HRM.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT. 5.12.1 All VMO’s (excluding casuals) shall accrue four (4) weeks (pro-rata) paid Professional Development Support (PDS) leave each year, based on normal weekly sessional services hours, which shall accrue for no more than four (4) years in total.
5.12.2 The structure of the PDS will allow a VMO to draw down on their PDS balance in two ways:
(a) Via a leave application; and
(b) By invitation; meaning that at least once per annum, VMOs will be invited to provide their existing documentation in relation to their professional development activities; and
(c) PDS shall be utilised to undertake professional development activities as discussed and agreed with their Medical Director and shall be granted provided satisfactory arrangements can be made for services continue to be carried out where necessary; and
(d) No cash payment shall be made in lieu of PDS, including upon resignation, retirement, and termination of services or exceeding the maximum accumulation of four (4) years; and
(e) Where a VMO is required by Mater to be an official representative at a conference, such VMO shall be entitled to leave on full pay in accordance with the projected weekly sessional roster, without deduction from their PDS balance. In addition, reasonable expenses will be paid for fares and accommodation for this leave.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT. 1. On September 1 of each school year, the District shall allocate for each employee, not member FTE, 0.8% of the base salary to support the employee’s efforts towards meeting professional goal(s). Base salary is the beginning step on the salary schedule (BA 00).
2. The District will share information regarding the professional development provisions, funds available, and procedures with all staff through conferences and/or staff meetings.
3. Each employee may set professional goal(s) related to the district instructional framework, and request funds for activities to support meeting these goals.
4. The Site Council in each building shall review all requests for funds and communicate to the district a list of proposals which have approval.
5. All expenditures of professional development funds will be made through standard District procedures.
6. Professional development funds may be designated to another rmember of the bargaining unit following approval by the building site council.
7. Professional development funds may accumulate up to three (3) years. If agreeable between employee and supervisor, employee may be granted an extension beyond three (3) years.
8. Each employee’s professional development funds will be tracked at the building level.
9. At the end of the accumulation period, unused funds revert to building fund for professional development.
10. Unused funds from retirees or members leaving the district revert to the building fund for professional development.
11. The expenditure record will be completed and submitted by August 31st.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT. In addition to clause 6.4, nursing staff may apply to the employer for interest free loans to cover the cost of professional development courses as per hospital policy. Each application will be considered with regard to the clinical strategic requirements of the hospital. The employee will re-pay to the employer the loan to be spread out over 13 pays.
