Professional Leaves of Absence. A leave of absence shall be defined as a Board-approved absence from work. An employee shall not be paid salary, wages, or Board-paid fringe benefits while on a leave of absence. The individual employment contract of any employee on leave of absence shall continue to run during the period of such leave and shall, therefore, be subject to renewal, non-renewal, or suspension, or as otherwise provided by law. Professional Leaves of Absence a. A tenured faculty member may be granted upon his request up to one year’s leave of absence without pay, and up to an additional year’s leave upon request, for advanced study, research or writing, exchange teaching, travel or any other professional experience which is related to his field of teaching or employment or which will improve his professional competence.
Professional Leaves of Absence. 9:9.1 Teachers may apply for leave with pay to attend professional conferences, workshops and seminars that have a direct relationship to the employee’s responsibilities in the district. Leave under this section shall not exceed one (1) day per year. Additional days may be taken for such conferences, seminars and workshops from those days available to the employee under 9:3.1 above, subject to the procedures for their use established in 9:3.2 through 9:3.3.

Additional professional leave days may be granted at the discretion of the Superintendent or his/her designee, with or without pay. The use of professional leave shall be subject to prior approval by the Superintendent or his/her designee upon submission of a written request a reasonable time in advance for the following purposes:

Requests directly related to the goals designated in an employee’s Professional Improvement Plan shall receive precedence over other requests. Employees shall be responsible for all costs associated with any conference attended under this clause.

  • General Leaves of Absence A. Upon written request from the employee and upon approval of the College President, unpaid leave of absence may be granted to any employee for such things as: (a) illness; (b) family emergency; (c) maternity/paternity; (d) adoption; (e) education; and (f) military leave. The terms of the leave of absence will be confirmed in writing by the College.

  • Other Leaves of Absence In the event that you are on a bona fide leave of absence, not otherwise described in this definition, from which you have not returned to employment with the Company or an Affiliate, your Separation from Service has occurred on the first day on which your leave of absence period exceeds six months or, if earlier, upon your termination of employment (provided that such termination of employment constitutes a Separation from Service in accordance with the last sentence of the first paragraph of this definition).

  • Professional Leave Professional leave without pay will be granted to full-time and regular part- time employees who are elected to or appointed to the College of Nurses or the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario or the Registered Practical Nurses’ Association of Ontario to attend regularly scheduled meetings of the College of Nurses or the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario or the Registered Practical Nurses’ Association of Ontario subject to the following limitations:

  • Union Leaves of Absence In support of the Partnership relationship, upon request, the Employer will grant time off to employees for official union business as long as the number of employees absent for union business does not impose an unreasonable burden on the Employer and the Employer receives reasonable notice. Union leaves will be defined according to the following: Short-Term Leaves are defined as leaves up to 30 days. Employees will continue to accrue seniority, service credit and benefits during the time of the absence, at the expense of the Employer. The impact of multiple short-term leaves on the operations must be considered. Long-Term Leaves are defined as leaves of absence for more than 30 days and up to a maximum of one year. Such leaves will be granted by the Employer in increments of three months and shall be jointly reviewed, on a periodic basis, at the regional level. Seniority, service credit, credited service and health, dental and life insurance benefits will continue during the leave as long as the union reimburses Xxxxxx Permanente for the associated costs.

  • LEAVES OF ABSENCE Article 11 applies for both paid and unpaid leaves. For the purposes of an unpaid 11.25 hour shift, the deduction from pay shall equate to 14.05 hours. For the purposes of an unpaid 7.5 hour shift, the deduction from pay shall equate to 9.375 hours.
