Scheduling Annual Leave a. Twelve-month Employees are eligible to apply to take annual leave as it is accumulated. Leave taken that exceeds accruals is leave without pay and must be approved by the employee’s supervisor. b. Except for emergency situations, employees are required to request leave at least 48 hours in advance of the leave time by submitting an appropriate Leave Request form to their supervisor. c. The College normally attempts to accept the employee’s request for annual leave; however, approvals are subject to priority needs of the College being met first. d. Annual leave may be granted when an employee has exhausted sick-leave benefits. e. Annual leave is allowable in no less than half-hour increments. f. Annual leave is subject to the approval of the employee’s immediate supervisor, and deviation from request-for-leave procedures may result in the denial of the leave request. Exceptions to annual-leave request procedures must be approved by the Office of Human Resources.

Any such alteration shall be as to the entirety of the number of days posted and shall not deprive the employee, unless he so agrees, of a portion only of his previously scheduled days. 58.9 Any employee denied his choice of annual leave because of seniority shall be given mutually agreeable alternative dates. 58.10 In the event an employee fails to make written application prior to April 1st, he will not be entitled to have preferen...

Scheduling Annual Leave. 1. Annual leave should be scheduled in advance. An employee must submit a leave request in WebTA to his/her immediate supervisor or designee normally at least three (3) working days prior to the absence. The employee has a responsibility to comply with this requirement; however, an employee request made less than three (3) days will be considered and may be approved. Failure to request annual leave in advance shall not be the sole basis for a denial of such a request. However, frequent failure to follow proper annual leave procedures may be the basis for denial of annual leave requests or disciplinary action. 2. Emergency leave is annual leave not scheduled in advance. Employees on a fixed 8-hour or compressed work schedule must attempt to directly contact their supervisor or their designee within the first hour of the employee’s tour of duty, or as soon as possible thereafter, in order to request and obtain approval for their use of annual leave for that day. Employees on an IFP or Flexible schedule must attempt to directly contact their supervisor or their designee by 12:00 noon, or as soon as possible thereafter, in order to request and obtain authorization for the use of annual leave for that day.

Emergency annual leave for such matters as deaths in the family will be granted unless the employee cannot be spared due to mission essential duties.
