Staff Development/Training. 1. The District will provide a sum of $1,500.00 which will be allocated to individual schools for use in enhancing the in-service training of CSP employees. The allocation will be distributed based on the number of CSP members in each school. Administrators and staff at each school will determine how these funds will be distributed. Staff Development funds which remain unspent as of August 31st of each year shall be carried over to the following year.
Staff Development/Training. The district will pay registration fees or course tuition for workshops, seminars or courses directly related to the employees’ responsibilities with the district subject to the approval, in advance, of the Director of Buildings and Grounds. Upon successful completion, the employer will reimburse employees for pre-approved costs related to training. The employer will have final approval of the training requested by the employee.
Staff Development/Training. 1. Each school principal will select a representative to coordinate staff development activities at that school. Said coordinators shall be selected from a list of no more than five (5) faculty members who have expressed an interest in coordinating staff development activities and elected by a majority vote of the teachers as nominees for staff development coordinator from their respective schools except that this number may be reduced in schools of fewer than ten (10) teachers. This person will be made known to the faculty during preplanning.
2. The President of United School Employees of Pasco may elect to serve as co-chairperson of the Professional Staff Development Sub-Committee of the District HRTD Committee.
3. When appropriate, teachers may serve as instructors for staff development components. The total compensation paid to teachers serving as instructors shall be established after consideration of the duration, complexity and expectations for planning and delivering school, regional or district-wide staff development. Such compensation guidelines will be established by the Professional Development Staff Sub-Committee of the District HRTD Committee and presented to the Superintendent and USEP President for approval. Upon approval, such guidelines will be submitted for ratification. Until such guidelines are established and ratified, instructors shall receive one and one-half (1 1/2) times their regular hourly rate of pay for each meeting hour taught. Teachers shall be paid for necessary mileage in performing his/her duties as instructor under this section. Such mileage payment shall be in accordance with Article X, Section A-4, of this Agreement.
4. Attendance at staff development training components shall be voluntary except when assigned by the Teacher Assistance Team and for those components required to implement additional programs or goals established by the Board, the Legislature, or federal grants. In any event, no more than fifteen (15) hours of staff development training shall be required of any teacher during the school year, with the exception of any teacher at an alternative school for disruptive students. The above fifteen (15) hours does not include those hours which may be assigned to a teacher by the Teacher Assistance Team. Staff Development/Training. Effective 4/1/2008, PEF shall include funding in the PEF Budget in the amount of $10,000 annually for staff development. Funding provided in this paragraph shall be used for supplemental training, including but not limited to: • driver safety training, • health and safety training, • ergonomic training, • computer hardware and computer software training, • training on other equipment required to be used in the performance of their job duties, and • other training that may be deemed necessary to meet the needs of the individual contributors.
Staff Development/Training. The District shall determine and provide staff development/training for all employees within the bargaining unit as appropriate to their job assignment. Such training may include but is not limited to: office procedures and technology use; student safety and discipline; playground safety; Safe Schools Training; student restraint behavior modification; medication disbursement; care of medically fragile students; proper lifting techniques and handling and disposal of hazardous materials such as needles and bodily fluids. If this training is held outside of the normal workday, employees will be compensated at their hourly rate of pay or at the overtime rate if the employee’s hours are such that they have met that threshold.
Staff Development/Training. 42.1 Employees will, in consultation with their Head of Division or other work unit, develop and implement an individual Performance Development Plan derived from the employee's Performance Agreement.
42.2 Employees will be released at the discretion of the senior manager to undertake staff development and training, in accordance with the employee's Performance Development Plan. A maximum of two hours per week may be approved by the relevant work unit manager for staff members to participate in development activities.
42.3 Approval will be given on the basis of identified needs recorded through an approved Training Needs Analysis, Performance Development Plan or evidence of other type of ongoing professional development activity, which may include enrolment in a course or unit through an accredited Registered Training Organisation. Work unit managers are expected to make arrangements to meet the responsibilities of staff members undertaking activities under this Clause from within existing resources.
Staff Development/Training a) As early as possible each year, the amount of money allocated for individual and group staff development will be announced.
b) Staff Development/Training may be scheduled from time to time for up to six (6) hours. Such hours shall be compensated at straight time unless an Employee's attendance will cause her to work in excess of forty-four hours in the week. The date/content/format of Staff Development and Training Seminars will be mutually agreed upon. When necessary, these sessions will be scheduled twice so that all employees have at least one opportunity to attend. When sessions are mandatory, Employees will be required to present a valid reason for non-attendance.

Consideration for approval will be based upon: (1) funds available, (2) relationship to employee's immediate job performance or future planned responsibilities, (3) District needs, (4) individual growth adding to the employee's abilities, skills, job-related interests and professional or personal growth, and (5) the employee’s access to other professional development funds.

Paraeducators may request reimbursement for the cost of the assessment required by the state to serve as a paraeducator, as well as costs associated with applying for Paraeducator Certificates, after completion of their probationary period; provided funds are available.
