Absence for personal illness shall be allowed and shall include full pay not to exceed twelve days in one year for 12 month secretaries, and ten days for 10 month secretaries. For 12 month secretaries, if fewer than twelve school days of allowed sick leave are taken in any school year, then the number of days not utilized shall be accumulated without limit. For 10 month secretaries, it is 10 days. 2. In case of illness incurred during the school day which results in the secretary leaving school before 11:00 A.M, a full day will be charged, if after 11:00 A.M., a half day will be charged. (Adjustments will be made depending on starting time of individual secretary.)

Absence for personal disability shall be allowed and shall include full pay, not to exceed twelve (12) days, ten (10) of which are sick days and two (2) of which are emergency days. 3. If fewer than twelve (12) sick days of allotted sick and emergency leave are taken in any school year, then the number of days not utilized shall be accumulated without limit. 4. Absences on sick leave shall be charged first to the days allowed for the current school year until it is fully utilized and thereafter to the cumulative credit to the extent of such credit is available. 5. In cases of illness extending beyond the employee’s sick leave credit, the deductions will be made on the basis of 1/20 per day of the monthly basic salary. 6. In case of illness incurred during the school day which results in the supervisor leaving school before 11:00 a.m., a full day will be charged, if after 11:00 a.m., a half day will be charged. 7. Upon retirement and in accordance with the requirements of the Teachers Pension and Annuity Fund, all present employees shall be paid the sum of $50 per day for each unused sick day accumulated to the day of retirement. For employees hired after July 1, 1996, the rate of pay shall be $50 per day for each day of unused sick days to a maximum of $10,000. Retirement shall mean a supervisor having filed the necessary papers to effect same with the New Jersey State Teachers’ Retirement System or the Teacher’s Pension and Annuity Fund. Notice of intent to retire shall be given to the Board by December 1 of the school year of intended retirement. The employee shall be paid on the first business day following July 1. Failure to give notice may result in delay of payment until the following school year.

Absences on sick leave in excess of that provided herein may be allowed by the Board, subject to deduction of salary paid to the substitute filling the position, up to one (1) month’s time for each year of service by the employee on sick leave, and limited to ten (10) months in any current ten (10) year period. 6. In the case of a first year employee who has used up the ten (10) day allowance, one (1) day at the cost of a substitute may be allowed for each month served, upon approval by the Board of Education.

Additionally, secretaries will call the sub-service on days when school is in session. 7. Upon retirement, the secretaries shall be paid the sum of $30.00 per day for each unused sick leave day accumulated to the time of retirement with a cap of $3,000 maximum reimbursement. Retirement shall mean secretaries having filed the necessary papers to effect same with the PERS. All retiring members shall utilize a 403B Plan for sick time payment in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Upon retirement, the paraprofessionals shall be paid the sum of $30.00 per day for each unused sick leave day accumulated to the time of retirement. Retirement shall mean paraprofessionals having filed the necessary papers to effect same with the PERS. All retiring members shall utilize a 403B Plan for sick time payment in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Teachers’ pay less the substitute pay shall be allowed for up to five (5) additional days. 8. Upon retirement, the teacher shall be paid the sum of eighty dollars and twenty-one cents ($80.21) per day for the 2015-2016 school year, eighty dollars and twenty-one cents ($80.21) per day for the 2016-2017 school year, eighty dollars and twenty-one cents ($80.21) per day for the 2017-2018 school year for each unused sick leave day accumulated to the time of retirement.   • Personal Illness Employees may use accumulated sick leave for hours off due to personal illness. The employee may be required to furnish a medical certificate from a qualified physician as evidence of illness or physical disability in order to qualify for paid sick leave as per District practice. Accumulated sick leave may also be granted for such time as is actually necessary for office visits to a doctor, dentist, optometrist, etc.

  • Personal Leave of Absence The Administrator may grant a request for leave of absence for personal reasons without pay provided that he receives at least one (1) month's clear notice, in writing, unless impossible, and provided that such leave may be arranged without undue inconvenience to the normal operations of the Nursing Home. Employees when applying for such leave shall indicate the proposed date of departure and return. Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld.

  • Personal Illness and Injury Leave 10.1.1 Full-time bargaining unit members shall be entitled to ten (10) days leave with full pay for each school year for purposes of personal illness or injury. Bargaining unit members who work less than full-time shall be entitled to that portion of the ten (10) days leave as the number of hours per week of scheduled duty relates to the number of hours for a full-time bargaining unit member in a comparable position. 10.1.2 After all earned leave as set forth in 10.1.1 above is exhausted, additional non-accumulated leave shall be available for a period not to exceed five (5) school months, provided that the provisions of 10.1.4 below are met. The amount deducted for leave purposes from the bargaining unit member's salary shall be the amount actually paid a substitute employee employed to fill the position during the leave, or, if no substitute is employed, the amount which would have been paid to a substitute. The five-month period shall begin on the eleventh (11) day of absence due to illness or injury. 10.1.3 If a bargaining unit member does not utilize the full amount of leave as authorized in Article 10.1.1 above in any school year, the amount not utilized shall be accumulated from year to year. 10.1.4 Upon request by District management, a bargaining unit member shall be required to present a medical doctor's certificate verifying the personal illness or injury and/or a medical authorization to return to work. If the illness or injury exceeds twenty (20) consecutive days, the District may require a certified medical specialist to visit the bargaining unit member and make all necessary inquiries in order to be fully informed as to the nature and severity of the illness or injury, and to report such findings to the Superintendent or designee. If the report concludes that the absence is not due to personal illness or injury, or that the illness is not sufficiently severe to warrant continued absence, then the Superintendent or designee, after notice to the bargaining unit member, may refuse to grant such a leave. If requested by the District management to furnish a medical doctor's authorization, bargaining unit member shall submit said authorization upon returning to work. 10.1.5 Whenever possible, a bargaining unit member must contact the designated District Office personnel as soon as the need to be absent is known, but no later than ninety (90) minutes prior to the bargaining unit member's starting time, in order to permit the employer time to secure a substitute. Failure to provide adequate notice may be grounds for denial of leave with pay. 10.1.6 A bargaining unit member who is absent for one-half day or less may have deducted one-half day from the accumulated leave; and if the absence exceeds more than one-half day, a full day may be deducted from accumulated leave. 10.1.7 A bargaining unit member may not be allowed to return to work and may be required to pay the cost of the substitute secured if the bargaining unit member fails to notify the District of the bargaining unit member's intent to return to work prior to the close of the bargaining unit member's preceding workday, and such failure results in a substitute being secured. 10.1.8 Each bargaining unit member may request notification of the accumulated leave by September 30th of each school year.

  • Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness Leave a) Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness leaves granted to a permanent teacher, long-term occasional teacher or teacher hired into a term position under this Article shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Standards Act, as amended. b) The teacher will provide to the employer such evidence as necessary to prove entitlement under the Employment Standards Act. c) A teacher contemplating taking such leave(s) shall notify the employer of the intended date the leave is to begin and the anticipated date of return to active employment. d) Seniority and experience continue to accrue during such leave(s). e) Where a teacher is on such leave(s), the Employer shall continue to pay its share of the benefit premiums, where applicable. To maintain participation and coverage under the Collective Agreement, the teacher must agree to provide for payment for the teacher’s share of the benefit premiums, where applicable. f) In order to receive pay for such leaves, a teacher must access Employment Insurance and the Supplemental Employment Benefit (SEB) in accordance with g) to j), if allowable by legislation. An employee who is eligible for E.I. is not entitled to benefits under a school board’s sick leave and short term disability plan. g) The Employer shall provide for permanent teachers, long-term occasional teachers and teachers hired into a term position who access such Leaves, a SEB plan to top up their E.I.
