ARTICLE HOLIDAYS. ARTICLE HOLIDAYS. The company agrees to provide during the term of this Agreement holiday entitlement as set out hereto. ARTICLE HOLIDAYS. For the purposes of this Agreement, the following days will be recognized as holidays for full-time employees: New Year’s Day Labour Day Good Friday Thanksgiving Day Victoria Day Christmas Day Canada Day Boxing Day Civic Holiday A full-time employee who is required to work on a holiday shall be paid for authorized work on such day at his regular straight time hourly rate for all hours worked and in addition, provided he has been employed for a period of at least three (3) months in a full-time position, has earned wages on at least twelve (12) days during the four work weeks immediately preceding the day of the holiday, and works his scheduled day of work immediately preceding and following the holiday, the Employer shall grant another working day for the holiday which shall be no later than the next annual vacation of the full-time employee and the day so substituted shall be deemed to be the holiday. ARTICLE HOLIDAYS. Employees in the active employ of the employer who have completed their probationary period and who are not required to work on the holiday concerned shall receive pay for the following holidays: News Years Day Canada Day Boxing Day Good Friday Victoria Day Civic Holiday Labour Day Thanksgiving Day Remembrance Day Christmas Day Anniversary of Employment Family Day Holiday pay shall be computed on the basis of the number of hours the employee would otherwise have worked had there been no holiday, at his regular straight time hourly rate of pay. If an employee works on one of the above-named paid statutory holidays, he will receive payment at time and one-half for the hours actually worked by him addition to receiving his holiday pay. It is understood that non-statutory holidays will not attract a premium if worked. In the event that one or more of the aforementioned holidays occurs during the eligible employee's vacation, the company shall grant the extra day's holiday with pay to the eligible employee as provided herein. If an employee is not eligible for payment for a declared holiday and is required to work, he or she shall receive one and one-half times the regular straight time hourly rate of pay for hours worked that day.
ARTICLE HOLIDAYS. The Board recognizes the following as paid holidays for Employees: New Year's Day Civic Holiday Good Friday Labour Day Easter Monday Thanksgiving Day Victoria Day Christmas Day Canada Day Boxing Day Employees covered under this Agreement, including Employees, shall be entitled three floating holidays in addition to the above mentioned holidays. One floating holiday will be scheduled during Christmas break. The two remaining floating holidays will be taken during Christmas break, March break, summer break, or in the Administration Centres at a time mutually agreeable to the employee and supervisor. If and when a public holiday is proclaimed by either the Federal or Provincial Government, one floating holiday shall be eliminated on January 1st of the year the proclaimed holiday comes into effect. Employees are not eligible to receive holiday pay for any holidays which occur during a regularly scheduled lay-off time. When any of the above noted holidays falls on a Saturday or Sunday and is not proclaimed as being observed on some other day, the previous Friday or following Monday, as decided by the Board, shall to be the holiday or holidays for the purpose of this Agreement. Payment of holidays will be for part-time Employees on the basis of their status.

If any of the above holidays during an employee’s vacation, the employee will be either granted another day off with pay or will be paid an day’s pay at the normal rate of pay, such option to be at the discretion of the Board. If any of the above holidays falls on a Saturday or Sunday, a Friday or Monday be given in lieu. Paid holidays for employees working less than forty (40) hours per week shall be paid on a pro rata basis.
