Holidays Designated. All employees shall receive the following Statutory and Paid Holidays with pay at their regular straight time rate. The designated days shall be: New Years' Day Labour Day Good Friday Thanksgiving Day Victoria Day Remembrance Day Canada Day Christmas Day B.C. Day Boxing Day in addition to any other day proclaimed by the Provincial or Federal Government.

(b) In the event that a state or subdivision thereof either by law or declaration having the force of law requires a plant closing in observance of a holiday:
(i) which is not a designated holiday in this Section, such state or local holiday shall be observed by the affected plant in lieu of whichever one of the holidays designated herein the parties to the Agreement shall select; or (ii) on a date other than the date specified herein for such holiday, the holiday shall be observed by the affected plant on the date the plant is required to close in lieu of the date specified herein.

Holidays Designated. Each employee will be paid eight (8) hours’ pay at his regular average hourly earnings for the previous pay period excluding overtime premium and shift differential for the following statutory holidays: New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, January Employee’s Birthday, and three (3) days are to be re-arranged so as to provide for a shutdown for the period between Christmas and New Years. For the term of this contract only, December and December will be desig- nated holidays. Provided he meets all the following eligibility requirements: The employee must be on the seniority list as of the day of the holiday. The employee must have worked the last scheduled workday before the holiday and the next scheduled workday after the holiday, unless the employee is absent because of illness, or a valid reason. Minor tardiness will not disqualify an employee for holiday pay, provided the employee works the remainder of his shift. Employees with necessary seniority who have been laid off or are on Union leave, within fourteen (14) calendar days immediately prior to the holiday, or employees on approved sick leave within thirty (30) calendar days immediately prior to the holiday shall receive holiday pay for such holiday. When a holiday falls on Saturday or Sunday, eligible employees shall celebrate the holiday on the previous Friday or following Monday, as designated. This provision may be changed by the mutual agreement of the Company and the Union. Such holidays will be posted on the bulletin board by the Wednesday preceding the holiday. When one of the above holidays falls within an eligible employee’s approved vacation and he is absent from work during his regularly scheduled work week because of such vacation, he shall be paid for such holiday and will be entitled to the day off for the holiday at a time mutually agreed to by the Company and the employee. For work performed on the preceding holidays, employees will be paid at the rate of double time in addition to the holiday allowance, which the employee will be otherwise entitled to. Employees who may be requested to work on a holiday and have accepted such holiday work assignment and then fail to report for and perform such work, without reasonable cause, shall not receive holiday pay under the holiday pay section.
Holidays Designated. Each employee will be paid eight (8) hours pay at his/her regular straight-time hourly rate (exclusive of overtime premium but including shift premium) for any of the following holidays, namely; Provided the employee has seniority as of the date of such holiday and qualifies under the following rules:
(a) The employee has worked his/her last scheduled working day within one (1) week immediately before and his/her next scheduled working day after such holiday.
(b) The employee has worked within one (1) week immediately before the day on which such holiday falls but is absent from work on the last scheduled working day before or on his/her next scheduled working day after such holiday and furnishes satisfactory reasons to his/her xxxxxxx for such absence.
(c) The employee is on leave of absence, granted in writing, and returns to work following the holiday but during the calendar week in which the holiday fell.
(d) The employee is absent on sick leave or layoff due to reduction in force and such absence or layoff has commenced within thirty (30) calendar days prior to the holiday, except that an employee on sick leave and in receipt of Workers' Compensation benefits for such holiday shall not qualify for the holiday.
(e) An employee who is on indefinite layoff and otherwise eligible for holiday pay will be paid his/her holiday pay without being required to work his/her next scheduled working day after such holiday.
(f) In the case of holidays which fall in the holiday period starting December 23 through the following January 1, the employee must have worked the last scheduled working day prior to and the next scheduled working day after such holiday period.
