CALAMITY DAY. 1. On days when, District-wide, schools are closed due to public calamity such as snow, floods, etc., the Board shall provide payment for an employee at his/her regular hourly rate. An employee who is required to work on District-wide calamity days because of job responsibilities will be paid an additional amount equal to one and one-half (1-1/2) his/her regular hourly rate for hours worked. When it has been determined that there is a District-wide calamity day, each employee who should have been contacted about staying home but was not contacted and reported to work shall receive an additional two (2) hours pay at the regular hourly rate (straight time). In order to be eligible for reporting pay, an employee must have on file, with the Superintendent/Designee his/her current telephone number.
2. Due to either a District-wide or building(s) calamity, if there is a delayed start and an employee who has two District jobs, due to the delayed start, now has jobs that overlap in time, the employee shall be paid for both jobs as though they were completed on a non-delayed-start day.
3. In the event of a delayed start or early release due to a District-wide or building calamity, employees (with the exception of bus drivers and bus aides) are expected to report and work their regularly assigned hours at their regular rate of pay, unless directed otherwise. Bus drivers and bus aides will report per the delayed start (i.e. two-hours after the normal time). The affected employees may be required to perform work within their respective job classifications and/or receive in-service or training opportunities during those work hours. Employees will not be reprimanded if adverse weather conditions prevent them from reporting at their regularly scheduled time on days where there is a delayed start or early release of students. If an employee is delayed in their arrival due to adverse weather the employee shall make arrangements with their immediate supervisor to make up the missed time. Employees who are directed not to report to work shall do so without any loss of pay. Employees who fail to report to work at their regularly scheduled time for reasons that are not related to the delayed start or early release may be subjected to progressive discipline.

CALAMITY DAY. A. All employees shall be paid their appropriate rate of pay for all days or part of a day when the entire school system or their particular worksite building is closed due to an epidemic, weather, or other public calamity.
B. If required to work on a calamity day, an employee shall be paid time and a half (1.5) for hours worked.
1. Any employees required to work, who because of an existing public calamity cannot do so, shall not be penalized or disciplined.
2. Any employee who reports to work, at his/her regularly scheduled time, and is subsequently told to return home as a result of a calamity shall receive time and a half (1.5) pay for all time actually worked that day.
C. Provided at least one calamity day occurs in a school year, bargaining unit members shall not receive additional compensation for completion of required Public School Works training.
CALAMITY DAY. A. In the event schools are closed because of weather conditions or mechanical problems, bargaining unit members are not expected to report to work. Every effort should be made to notify the staff by 6:15 A.M. When schools are closed early because of weather conditions or mechanical problems, all bargaining unit members are to be dismissed within 20 minutes after the building has been secured and students have been dispatched from the buildings.
B. In the event schools are closed because of weather conditions or otherwise, to such extent that the minimum legally required school year can be met only by scheduling makeup days, these makeup days shall be designated by the Board as regular work days Monday through Friday, exclusive of holidays, without additional compensation. Makeup days may be scheduled on Saturday or Sunday only upon mutual agreement between the Association and the Board.
CALAMITY DAY. In the event school is closed because of public calamity or severe weather all persons required to report to work on their regularly scheduled shift shall be paid their regular per diem rate plus an additional day’s pay or receive one day’s compensatory time. The board may schedule make-up days when schools are closed in excess of five (5) days in a given school year. Employees not required to report to work on any day in excess of five (5) days in a given year will not be paid for any of the days equal to the number of days the board schedules for make up. All persons required to report to work during make-up days scheduled by the board of education shall be paid their regular per diem rate of pay for all make up days. All employees regularly scheduled to work on a calamity day but are not required to by the building principal and/or the Superintendent or Superintendent Designee will receive regular pay for all hours either worked or missed due to the calamity. Employees in the maintenance department will report to work on any day when any single school building, or more is open (excluding the Glenview Early Childhood Center) and the employee shall be paid their regular per diem rate of pay. All 12 month employees shall report to work on any calamity day in excess of five (5) days in any given school year without additional pay.
CALAMITY DAY. Employees who are required to work on calamity days by the Superintendent/designee shall receive one and one-half (1-1/2) times their regular hourly pay for all hours worked, in addition to the regular day's pay. Dismissing school early would not constitute a calamity day.
CALAMITY DAY. 12.01 All employees who work at schools or facilities (full or part time), which are determined closed by the Superintendent due to a calamity, shall receive pay for their regularly scheduled hours at the building or in services provided to students at the building. Employees can be required to work on a calamity day. Only employees assigned to the building(s) closed by the calamity who are required to work will be paid premium pay equal to one and one-half (1.5) times the hours actually worked on the calamity day in addition to their regular rate of pay for their regularly scheduled hours.
12.02 Premium pay will only be given for hours worked on the calamity day up to the number of regularly scheduled hours.
12.03 No other overtime will be paid premium pay on hours worked on a calamity day.
12.04 Employees required to work on a calamity day as defined above shall be paid a minimum of two (2) hours.
CALAMITY DAY. Bargaining unit members shall not be required to report to work when the school(s) are officially closed by the Superintendent due to a calamity. However, all calamity days that exceed the state requirement for minimum number of student hours shall be made up as regular student days. In the event that the district utilizes more than twelve (12) calamity days or the equivalent of seventy-two (72) student hours, the labor management committee will meet to discuss the option of scheduling make up days as regular student days or staff professional development days.
CALAMITY DAY. A. All employees shall be paid their appropriate rate of pay for all days or a part of a day when schools, in which they are employed, are closed owing to an epidemic or other public calamity, pursuant to Ohio Revised Code section 3319.081(G).
B. If a calamity day is called, the following shall apply:
1. 260 and 236 day employees: If they are required to work on the first five (5) calamity days, they will receive his/her regular pay and shall be paid double (2) time for hours worked (Double time is regular time plus actual hours worked). If they are not required to work they shall be paid in accordance with Section A of this provision. Beginning with the 6th day, the employees shall either report to work, or take a personal day, vacation day or dock day.
2. All other employes: If they are required to work on the first five (5) calamity days, they will receive his/her regular pay and shall be paid double (2) time for hours worked (Double time is regular time plus actual hours worked). If they are not required to work they shall be paid in accordance with Section A of this provision. For the 6th and 7th calamity day, the employee’s shall be required to make up the day without additional compensation. Prior to the occurrence of the 8th day, the Board and the Union will meet, if possible, to discuss the possibility of extending the work day for the time lost on closure days in excess of the 7th day. If there is no agreement to extend the day, the Board may do any of the following in relation to closure days beyond the 7th day:
a. Require the employee to make up the day;
b. Require the employee to come in on a two (2) hour delay; or
c. Do not require the employee to make up the day.
C. All compensatory time shall be taken other than the school year.
D. If a calamity day is being called, all bargaining unit employees shall be notified prior to 5:00 A.M., when possible.
CALAMITY DAY. A. Employees shall be paid for all time lost, up to a maximum of five (5) work days each contract year (or the hourly equivalent of five (5) work days), in the event that the schools in which they are employed are closed due to disease epidemic, hazardous weather conditions, law enforcement emergency, inoperability of school buses or other equipment necessary to the school’s operation, damage to a school building, temporary circumstances due to utility failure rendering the school building unfit for school use, or other circumstances deemed appropriate by the Superintendent.
B. On days that school is closed or delayed, unit members are expected to work remotely on matters such as lesson planning, grading student work, updating their work website, completing necessary on-line training, and tending to similar school-related matters that can be handled from home.
C. The Board reserves the right to make-up days that exceed five (5) calamity days in a given school year. Unit members shall not be paid additionally if required to work on a make-up day as designated by the Board.
D. A unit member shall not be charged with the use of approved leave that falls on a day in which their assigned school is closed due to a calamity day.
CALAMITY DAY. If any unit member has an approved paid leave day on which a calamity day is declared, the unit member shall not be charged for taking the day of paid leave.
