Employee Requested Training. Any employee who successfully completes a training course related to the employee’s job, which has previously been approved by the Employer prior to enrollment, shall be reimbursed by the Employer for the total cost of tuition and books required, provided the employee receives a passing grade.

Employee Requested Training. This section applies when a Member requests funding to attend a course, seminar, workshop, correspondence course or other type of training that is not required by the Employer. Costs paid by the Employer may include registration, tuition or other course fees. The Member will pay for textbooks and other materials that remain the property of the Member. In order for the Employer to pay for the training, the Member must make written application and enter into a repayment agreement.
Employee Requested Training. All employee requested training, as distinguished from Employer required training provided for in Section 1 above, shall be subject to and in accordance with the following terms and conditions: (a) The Employer will generally approve, without requiring and without compensation (i.e. wages), employee requested participation in training opportunities when and if: (i) The employee is a regular, full-time employee having completed not less than one (1) year of continuous employment for the Department of Public Works or the GHSLWW Treatment Plant; and (ii) The requested training opportunity consists of a class or classes which, in the sole judgement and discretion of the Employer, will provide the requesting employee with skills or knowledge useful for the operation or maintenance of the Department of Public Works, or the GHSLWW Treatment Plant; and (iii) The employee's participation in the requested training opportunity will not interfere with or adversely affect the scheduling, operation or needs of the Department of Public Works, or the GHSLWW Treatment Plant; will not occur during the employee's scheduled working time; and will not result in any increased costs to the Employer (e.g. payment of overtime, use of substitute help, etc.); and (iv) The request for such training opportunity participation is made by the employee, in writing, to the Department of Public Works, or the GHSLWW Treatment Plant not less than fourteen (14) days in advance of the commencement of the training opportunity. (b) Upon receipt of an employee's written request for participation in a training opportunity pursuant to Section 32.2(a) above, the Department of Public Works Director or the Wastewater Plant Superintendent shall review such request to determine its compliance with all of the provisions of said Section 32.2(a). If the Department of Public Works Director or the Wastewater Plant Superintendent determines that the employee's request complies with Section 32.2(a) above, and that it is otherwise acceptable, the Department of Public Works Director or the Wastewater Plant Superintendent shall approve the request in writing. In the event of competing or conflicting employee requests for participation in training opportunities, preference shall be given to the more senior employee unless the more senior employee has, during the same fiscal year (of the Employer), previously requested and received approval for another training opportunity and the less senior employee has not (in wh...
Employee Requested Training. Employees may request the City to pay for their attendance at special classes or seminars offered by area colleges, business schools, professional organizations, consulting firms and private business. An employee wishing to take a class, seminar, or course, which is not for college credit must complete a "Conference, Seminar and Training Approval " request form. The form must be approved by the employee's supervisor, Department Director and the Mayor prior to enrollment in the class. Taking formal classroom courses or participating in other self- development activity during non-duty and evening hours is encouraged. However, an employee's participation in an evening or weekend educational program selected by the employee will generally not be considered compensable time unless otherwise approved by the appropriate Department Director and the Mayor. In such cases, salary or travel expenses will generally not be provided. Questions regarding whether attendance should be considered compensable should be referred to the Human Resources Director.

The Chief or Division Chief may allow the employee to attend such training while the employee is on-duty provided that it does not interfere with department operations.
Employee Requested Training. If an employee voluntarily requests to attend a training course or function related to their position that is scheduled outside of their regular work hours and that is not otherwise assigned, the employee must receive approval from the Department Head prior to attendance. If approved, attendance will be compensated as provided in Section A above. Training that is not assigned may be with or without pay at the discretion of the County. The employee shall be advised at the time that training is approved as to whether the training is considered assigned or voluntary training.
Employee Requested Training. When requested by an employee, in writing, and the City gives written approval to an employee, for educational purposes, to attend conferences, briefings, or other functions of a similar nature that are intended to improve, maintain, or upgrade the employee's certifications, skills or professional ability, the City may adjust the employee's schedule by mutual agreement between the City and the affected employee or, if approved by the City, the employee will attend the requested training and receive one and one-half (1½) the employee's regular rate of pay in pay or compensatory time for all hours, excluding travel time.

Employee Requested Training. Prior to April 1 of each year, employees desiring Borough-funded, job-related training during the next fiscal year shall submit to their department head a written proposal outlining and describing the specific training program desired, explaining its relevance to the employee's job, and estimating its cost, including any related travel expenses and personnel replacement costs. The department head may include any such requests in the department’s proposed budget. Employees may receive additional training opportunities which become available, subject to budget limitations. Upon mutual agreement of the employee and the Employer, an employee may be required to repay the expenses of a training program if they separate from Borough service within twelve

For those employees covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Employer sponsored training (i.e., seminars, conferences, etc.) or representation attended by an employee at the employee’s option shall be compensated as required under the Fair Labor Standards Act. Generally, this means compensated for a standard work day.
