The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals necessary to complete the work herein, including but not limited to, painting products, application tools, and worksite clean-up. GENERAL WORK REQUIREMENTS. The following general requirements apply to all aspects of the Work to be completed. The costs associated with compliance to these general requirements shall be included in each applicable specification item and will not be separately reimbursed. Removals/Replacements – The Contractor shall make all removals and replacements as necessary to perform the contract Work. Removed material, which is not to be re-installed, shall become scrap and shall be disposed of by the Contractor in accordance with all Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations. Prior to scrapping any item, the Contractor shall confirm that scrapping is indeed to be performed. The Contractor shall remove all equipment, electric cables, brackets, foundations, tubing, appurtenances and piping related to the existing systems which will not be used by the new systems. Removal of cables shall be to the nearest circuit breaker or terminal not needed for operation of other equipment or machinery. Removal of tubing and piping shall include all related tubing and piping not used by other systems or equipment. Plugs or caps shall be installed as needed to maintain the integrity of remaining tubing and piping. Insulation that is removed and considered to be unsuitable for re-installation shall be renewed with new insulation. Whenever removal of tubing, piping or cables involves penetration through bulkheads, decks, hull plating or other steel boundaries, the penetration shall be cropped out and an insert plate of same thickness as the adjacent plating installed by welding. Insert plates shall be, at a minimum, 6 inches diameter. When parts or covers are temporarily removed from existing machinery to remain, the Contractor shall take precautions to prevent entry or foreign material or debris into the machinery. When parts or covers are permanently removed from existing machinery or equipment to remain, the Contractor shall furnish and install approved permanent closures. Prior to making removals, the Contractor shall discuss planned removals with the DOT and obtain the DOT’s prior approval.
