Holidays and Personal Leave Days. A. The following days shall be recognized and observed as paid holidays for twelve-month employees: New Year’s Day Independence Day Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Xxxx’x Birthday Labor Day President’s Day Thanksgiving Day Good Friday Day Following Thanksgiving Easter Monday Christmas Eve Memorial Day Christmas Day Employee’s Birthday Primary and General Election Days B. A school food service employee may use up to two (2) days per year without loss of pay and not chargeable to sick leave for emergency situations or urgent business after the employee has exhausted all available personal business days. One (1) of these two (2) emergency/urgent business days may be granted with the prior approval of the food service central office, including allowing six employees of the unit to use one of these days to attend the MSDE sponsored food services convention. The other emergency/urgent business day, or half of a day, may be granted while the employee is on duty and an emergency arises. This leave is approved by the immediate supervisor and noted on the employee timesheet. In no case will school food service employees be paid for absence immediately prior to or following a school holiday or vacation.

b. When an employee is called upon to work on such designated holiday, he shall be paid, in addition to his regular straight time, one and one-half (1½) times his regular rate of pay for all hours worked on such holiday.
c. Holiday pay shall not be allowed an employee unless he is working during the week in which the holiday falls, and is on the job and available for work his last full scheduled workday before and his first full scheduled workday after the holiday, even though in different work weeks, except in case of proven illness or injury substantiated by a medical certificate.
d. Should a designated holiday be observed on one of the employee's regularly scheduled basic work days within his normal working period while he is on vacation, said holiday shall not be counted as a vacation day.
e. Holidays which fall on a Saturday shall be celebrated on the preceding Friday; and holiday which fall on a Sunday shall be celebrated on the following Monday.
f. Holiday pay shall apply to all regular, provisional and permanent part-time employees, but shall not apply to employees holding temporary, emergency or seasonal positions.
g. These provisions apply only to the above listed holidays.

However, the City agrees to grant the use of an accrued personal leave day or an accrued vacation day to any employee requesting to use such a leave day for observance of the Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Xxxx holiday.
Section 2. Holiday Pay Employees who are regularly scheduled to work on a day that is recognized by the City as a holiday, but not required to work, shall continue to receive their regular salary. Employees scheduled to work on a day that is recognized by the City as a holiday and who are required to work shall receive in addition to holiday pay, one and one half (1½ ) times their regular straight-time hourly rate of pay for each hour actually worked on the holiday. Double-time will be paid to employees for holidays, unless part of regularly scheduled work (when called in).

Holidays and Personal Leave Days. A. Paid holidays will be as identified and defined in the Michigan Court Rules and identified and defined in Administrative Orders issued by the Michigan Supreme Court and District Court Judge. In addition, Good Friday will be observed as a paid Holiday..
B. Employees who work on a holiday shall receive pay at one and one-half (1-1/2) times their regular hourly rate for all hours worked.
C. To be eligible for holiday pay, the employee must work the regular working day before the holiday and the regular working day after, unless on vacation or off with permission of the supervisor. If the holiday is observed during the employee’s vacation period the holiday shall not be considered a vacation day but shall be taken off as a holiday and the employee shall then receive an additional day off with pay.
D. Employees called in for work on a holiday shall be guaranteed a minimum of two (2) hours pay at the one and a half (1-1/2) times straight rate.
E. If a Holiday falls on Sunday, Monday shall be the Holiday. When Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve fall on Friday, the preceding Thursday shall be the Holiday. When they fall on a Saturday or Sunday, the preceding Friday shall be the Holiday. When any other Holiday falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be the Holiday.
F. During the term of this Agreement, each employee after completion of the probationary period shall be granted three (3) personal days which may be taken in one (1) hour increments with the approval of the immediate supervisor or Judge. These days are to be used within an 18-month period and may not be accumulated and used for an additional vacation week. Employees must give a minimum of 24-hours notice before requesting use of a personal day. This provision shall not apply to persons employed by Arenac County.
G. On those weeks in which holidays fall, the employee who has chosen the ten (10) hour day option, will work the regular schedule of eight (8) hours per day, or as otherwise directed by the Judge, subject to reasonable standards. The employee will be entitled to the same conditions allowed in the contract by those employees working the regular schedule.

Section 7.1 There shall be twelve and one-half (12-1/2) paid holidays as follows: New Year's Day Memorial Day Veteran's Day Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Xxxx Day Independence Day Thanksgiving Day President’s Day Labor Day Day after Thanksgiving Good Friday Columbus Day Christmas Day 1/2 Work Day - Day before Christmas Day: 4 hours for 40 hour employee 3-1/2 hours for 35 hour employees If a holiday falls upon a Saturday, the Friday preceding shall be observed as the holiday. If a holiday falls upon a Sunday, the Monday following shall be observed as the holiday.
Section 7.2 If, because of an emergency, an employee is required to work on a holiday, he shall be paid in addition to his holiday pay an amount equal to twice his regular rate for the hours so worked.
Section 7.3 No employee who is on terminal leave or layoff on the day preceding or following the holiday, will be paid for such holiday.
Section 7.4 Any employee failing to work the day preceding or the day following the holiday without a reasonable excuse shall not receive pay for the holiday. Absence using a sick day without a medical certificate is not a reasonable excuse.
