Initial Salary Schedule Placement. 17.2.1 Unit members shall be given credit for recognized prior experience up to a maximum of twelve (12) steps and up to seventy-five (75) semester units of graduate coursework beyond the Bachelors Degree. 17.2.1.1 Coursework must be reasonably related to present or future assignments within the District. 17.2.1.2 Until verification of experience, unit members entering the District will be given credit for a maximum of five (5) years of experience. Unit credit must be verified by official transcripts.

Initial Salary Schedule Placement. A newly employed Full-Time Faculty Member shall be placed by the District on the appropriate salary schedule, subject to the following provisions: (a) Class placement will be determined based on official transcripts submitted to the District and the credential(s) held, and received by either August 1st prior to the start of the fall semester and December 1st prior to the start of the spring semester. Documentation received after this deadline will result in an applicable salary increase effective beginning with the start of the next semester. Faculty Members employed to teach specialized vocational courses, as defined by the District, shall be placed on the appropriate class of the salary schedule for "Faculty Members Employed on an Academic Year Basis," Appendix C according to the provisions of the "Vocational Instructors Equivalency Table," Appendix F. (b) (1) Step placement will be determined by the District, not to exceed a maximum of eight (8) years (Step 9 on the Salary Schedule) upon receipt of employment verification by either August 1st prior to the start of the fall semester or December 1st prior to the start of the spring semester. Initial Salary Schedule Placement. The School District will determine initial Salary Schedule placement based on teaching experience and/or the previous salary earned in another assignment that requires a teaching license. Initial Salary Schedule Placement. Teachers new to the District in the 2011-2012 school year or thereafter will be given up to twelve (12) years of credit (placement at step 13) for public school experience.
Initial Salary Schedule Placement. 1. Full-time unit members who possess a valid credential registered with the County Office which required full completion of a student teaching program shall be given credit for up to five years of successful public school teaching experience at grades K-12 upon provision of verification of such experience satisfactory to the District. The initial placement shall not exceed Step 6. In order to be counted as successful experience, the unit member must have actually rendered full-time equivalent service of 75% of the days of a school year. Years submitted for experience credit must have been taught in the 10 years immediately preceding employment with the Etiwanda School District. For initial placement, lower division units acquired after the B.A. or B.S. degree are not acceptable for salary credit. Upper division or graduate units from an accredited college or university taken after the date of the B.A. or B.S. degree shall be credited for salary placement. Failure to submit official transcripts or other verification by September 15 of the first year of employment as requested will result in the units not being accepted for salary credit until the next submission date (refer to C. Advancement on the Salary Schedule). Teachers hired after September 15 must submit official transcripts within 60 calendar days of their contract start date. 2. Interns, teachers on emergency or other credentials, not requiring full completion of student teaching or its equivalent prior to issuance, shall be placed on Step 1, Column 1 regardless of the number or type of units completed or the member’s previous experience.

The employee shall complete all course work prior to first rendering paid service to the District and shall furnish the Personnel Office with official transcripts for all units of course work no later than forty-five (45) days after first rendering paid service to the District. Extensions of the forty-five (45) day period may be granted by the Personnel Administrator, in cases of extenuating circumstances. b. Employees shall be placed in the appropriate class based on the number of upper division or graduate semester units earned subsequent to completing the Bachelor’s Degree. Graduate units credited prior to receiving the Bachelor’s Degree shall be counted as units beyond the degree. (Teachers appropriately placed in accordance with previous agreements or Governing Board policy shall not be reclassified on the basis of this provision.) c. Units shall be accepted from colleges or universities accredited by one of the major regional accrediting associations. d. A teacher who is required to have a credential for their assignment within the Infant Development Center (IDC) program will be placed on the Certificated Salary Schedule. A teacher who is required to have a permit for their assignment with the IDC program will be placed on the Children Center Salary Schedule. e. Certificated employees hired on or after July 1, 2002, shall be entitled to full credit for full time teaching (currently up to step 17). Non-teaching bargaining unit members hired on or after July 1, 2002, shall receive full credit for all full time related prior service. f. Teaching experience shall be defined as teaching or other approved certificated service as a full-time regular employee for not less than one hundred and thirty-five (135) days per year in a public, private or parochial school of recognized standing. Verified teaching in the Armed Forces may be accepted. g. In special areas, work experience directly related to the subject(s) taught or to the special service rendered may be accepted in lieu of teaching experience upon recommendation of the Superintendent. h. Any teacher who has been teaching with a valid credential in Adult Education, and a credential that authorizes teaching in K-12, who moves from full-time hourly to a contracted K-12 position within the District, shall receive credit for all teaching experience earned within this District.
