SHARED CONTRACT. 8.1 Teams of two (2) unit members may submit proposals to share a single full-time contract wherein each teacher will teach less than full-time. 8.2 The proposal shall describe how the two teachers would share a contract and shall include: 1) a joint statement of the classroom philosophy of the unit members involved which is mutually acceptable and consistent, 2) a plan which explains tasks, schedules, curriculum responsibilities, individual responsibilities for required staff and curriculum activities, and 3) a process for establishing reliable communications with each other and with students, staff, parents and administrators, including but not limited to journal notebooks, emails, etc. Both teachers sharing a contract shall include a proposal delineating their responsibilities as a full-time teacher for each of the following: service days, minimum days for parent conferences, District-wide staff development days, Back to School Night and Open House. Other non-teaching activities will be scheduled on a pro rata basis. 8.3 Pairs of unit members requesting such an assignment shall notify their immediate supervisor in writing of their proposal prior to March 1. The Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources shall notify the unit members within ten (10) work days if their application requires resubmission. If an application requires resubmission, the unit members will have an additional ten (10) work days to resubmit the application for consideration. 8.4 The proposal shall be reviewed by the Superintendent or designee. 8.5 The Superintendent or designee will respond in writing within thirty (30) days of the receipt of the proposal. 8.6 The District has the authority to grant final approval or denial. If the proposal is denied, the applicants may request a conference. 8.7 Each unit member shall return to full-time employment for the succeeding school year. Each unit member remains eligible to reapply and receive approval for another shared contract. 8.8 Each shared contract unit member shall receive pro rata health insurance, sick leave and retirement benefits. 8.9 In the event that one of the two team members is unable, for any reason, to fulfill the terms and conditions of the shared contract, the remaining team member shall resume full-time employment for the balance of the school year, with resultant compensation. SHARED CONTRACT. 16. 100 Bargaining unit members who request to share one teaching position/benefit package shall be eligible to apply for shared contracts. The application process shall include: principal’s approval, a specific calendar/teaching schedule, division of responsibilities and duties, and benefit package designation.
SHARED CONTRACT. When the responsibility for an extra-pay position is shared by two (2) or more individuals, the salary shall be shared proportionally in relation to the time and responsibility required of each person involved.

SHARED CONTRACT. A shared contract arrangement consists of two teachers who split a full-time assignment in which they share students and have mutual responsibility for curricular planning, grading standards, parental conferences/communication and site responsibilities on an ongoing basis through the duration of the shared contract. 15.3.1. The responsibilities of a shared contract assignment shall be 9 divided according to a plan developed by employees and approved by the District. 10 21.2 Certificated employees sharing a full-time contracted position shall share pro rata 11 in one (1) leave and insurance benefit package as provided in the Collective 12 Bargaining Agreement. Certificated employees sharing one (1) full-time 13 contracted position may choose to each access a pro-rated portion of a health care 14 allocation, as determined by their individual FTE (e.g. 0.5 FTE employee to 15 receive 50% of the allocation). Per our provider’s agreement all benefit eligible 16 employees must first access the mandatory benefits (Dental, Vision, Life, Long- 17 Term Disability), then medical insurance. After purchase of mandatory benefits, 18 if one shared assignment partner does not choose to access the remainder of the 19 allocation to purchase medical benefits, then the balance of the allocation may be 20 shared with that employee’s shared contract partner. 21 21.3 In the event a long-term replacement is required for a shared contract employee, 22 the District may offer the other certificated employee that portion of the position. 23 21.4 Shared contract employees may substitute for one another at the substitute rate of 24 pay. 25 21.5 Employees proposing a shared contract assignment must have a plan in place no 26 later than August 1 of each school year. The District will assist employees in 27 finding a shared contract partner. In the event that an employee proposed plan is 28 not in place by August 1, the existing shared contract employee must decide to (a) 29 work full-time if the employee holds a 1.0 entitlement, (b) take leave from his or 30 her current contract, if eligible, (c) accept partial or full reassignment, or (d) 31 resign. In the event one shared contract partner resigns after July 26, the 32 remaining partner and the building principal will have five (5) working days to 33 find a new shared contract partner before the existing shared contract employee 34 must choose one of the four (4) options above. 35 21.6 Shared contracts can be accommodated by extending leaves as described in 36 Section 39.3.2.
SHARED CONTRACT. Full Year Part-Time 14.1.2.1 A shared contract/full year part-time position is when two (2) unit members agree to share (1) one full-time position and work the entire school year. Each unit member will work 50% of the student contact days as set out in the school calendar. Both unit members will work on the designated "teacher work days". 14.1.2.2 Unit members in order to participate in the shared contract/full year part-time position must apply for a 50% uncompensated leave as provided in Article 6.

SHARED CONTRACT. Certificated employees, may at their own option and subject to District approval, elect to reduce their contract from full time under the following conditions: 1. A letter of intent and detailed plan must be filed by both proposed partners by January 15 indicating the teachers' desire to have a reduced contract for the coming year. The detailed plan must include how the curriculum will be delivered and accountability for curriculum and instruction. The plan will also include how the partners communicate with each other, the principal, and parents; how the calendar will be divided; and how the needs of the students will be met. Teachers and the Natomas Teachers Association President will be notified of the decision regarding their shared contract plan in writing by March 15. 2. A teacher shall request in writing unpaid leave of absence for the year in which he/she is requesting less than a full-time (1. 0 FTE) contract. It is the responsibility of any employee on a leave of absence to notify the District administration of his/her desire to return to full employment. Such notice must be given in writing prior to January 15. 3. Minimum employment under this program shall be equal to one-half of the number of days normally required of the full-time certificated employee, plus all staff development and release days listed on the calendar; or working one-half day either morning or afternoon every day school is in session, plus all staff development, and release days listed on the calendar. 4. At least one partner on a shared contract must be tenured. 5. Health and welfare benefits contributions are pro-rated to that of a full-time employee. In the event the employee elects full coverage, the employee shall be responsible to contribute the additional monies to purchase the full coverage. 6. The employee and the District's contribution to the retirement system will be based on actual salary paid. The employee will receive only the pro-rated service credit toward years of service as computed by the teacher's retirement system
