SICK PAY ALLOWANCE. 27.01 An employee who, because of illness or injury, is unable to report for work at the regular hour must notify the Superintendent of Education/Facilities Services, or such other person as may be designated, before the regular starting time in time to get a replacement and to qualify for sick pay allowance. Employees who have been absent for more than one (1) day shall be required to call in prior to reporting for work.
SICK PAY ALLOWANCE. Subject to rule (a) above, after June 6, 1985 when a part time employee commences his/her second year of continuous employment and subsequently upon the commencement of each year of continuous employment thereafter they shall be credited with two hours of sick pay allowance per year for every twenty four (24) hours actually worked by the employee during the previous twelve (12) months up to a maximum of forty-eight (48) hours of sick pay allowance.
SICK PAY ALLOWANCE. 20.01 Each permanent employee shall be credited with one and one half (1½) day’s sick leave for every month of regular attendance at work.
20.02 A newly hired employee will be entitled to sick leave after the employee has completed three (3) months of employment. If retained in employment of the Employer following the aforesaid three (3) month probationary period, the employee will be credited with four and one half (4½) days sick leave allowance and be credited with one and one-half (1½) days each month thereafter.
20.03 When an employee is unable to attend work as a result of illness or injury, the employee will be entitled to receive pay from his or her accumulated sick leave bank. It is agreed
20.04 It is agreed and understood by the parties that the accumulation of sick leave credits cease once an employee has been absent from work for a period of four (4) continuous months.
20.05 A statement of accumulated sick leave credits will be issued to each employee by no later than July 1 of each year.
20.06 On the 1st of December of each year, the Employer will disburse (show as income) to the employee from its accumulated sick leave credits, a gross amount which after tax will be equivalent (or close thereof) to the yearly value of the Long Term Disability premiums. Also, the Employer will deduct the Long Term Disability premiums for the year. It is understood that the said premiums are submitted and paid to the insurance carrier on a monthly basis, on behalf of the employee.
20.07 On December 1 of each year, the Employer will calculate the cash value of fifty percent (50%) of each employee’s remaining unused sick leave. The Employer will then advise each employee of the cash value of the unused sick leave and other information as set out in the “Cash Value Worksheet” attached hereto and forming a part of this Agreement as Schedule “B”.
20.08 The employee will make one of the following choices and will advise the Employer of the choice by no later than five (5) working days following the date of issuance of the “Cash Value Worksheet”:
1) Request full or partial payment of the cash value.
2) Request that the cash value be banked for future use as a supplement to the Short Term Salary Continuation benefit described in 21.02.
3) Request that the money be banked for time off in lieu during the next calendar year. Such time off shall be taken at the sole discretion of the Employer.

SICK PAY ALLOWANCE. 4.01 The Company agrees to pay employees for three (3) sick days per year, for days not covered by insurance benefits. These days are not cumulative nor can they be carried over from year to year. The amount of pay will be seventy per cent (70%) of regular daily wages to a maximum of seventy dollars ($70.00) per day. In the event any of the sick days have not been used in any year, the employee will receive payment for the unused days in the aforementioned amount. Employees hired after January 23, 2000 will not receive entitlement under this article.

Future Sick Leave will be granted on the basis of one and one-half (1.5) days per month and any unused portion of such Sick Leave shall accumulate to the credit of such employee. All employees shall be entitled to Sick Leave with pay up to the amount of their accumulated sick leave credits.
21.2 The Corporation reserves the right to have the employee provide proof of sickness by medical certificate after two (2) days’ absence. The employee will be reimbursed for the cost of obtaining any medical documentation that is requested by the Corporation.
21.3 The employee may, at his option, use any Sick Leave allowance credited to him to make up the difference in monies received from Workers' Compensation and his regular pay as long as such credits are available.
21.4 Effective January 1, 2005, employees shall be allowed up to three (3) days per year, that being twenty-one (21) hours for Inside Workers and twenty-four (24) hours for Outside Workers, to be deducted from their accumulated Sick Leave Credits due to involuntary conditions to include family illness, medical and legal appointments, and counselling. One of the aforementioned three (3) days may be used for bereavement purposes for a family member not already defined in Article 23 or a close friend. The Employer reserves the right to request satisfactory proof. Such days shall be approved by the employees' Supervisor in advance, where necessary.
SICK PAY ALLOWANCE. 13.01 This coverage will be paid for and administered by the Company. Sick Pay Allowance will provide for the payment of the first three (3) days of any absence due to sickness, a maximum of twelve (12) days per calendar year, at one hundred percent (100%) of basic daily pay.
13.02 Claim forms must be submitted to the Payroll Department within ninety (90) days of the date of commencement of the sickness. The allowance will be paid through Payroll and will be subject to the normal payroll deductions.
13.03 The Company may require the employee to produce a medical certificate from a duly qualified medical practitioner upon his return to work. It is understood between the Union and the Company that this provision will be acted upon only by the Industrial Relations Department.

An employee who works less than one-half day will be to receive the Sick Pay Allowance on one-half day only. The employee must produce proper evidence that he is entitled to pay during such absence, if requested to do so by the Company. Such evidence, if requested, shall be requested prior to the employ- ee’s returning to work where the employee has notified the Company according to Article Any employee failing to notify the Company accord- ing to Article will be required to produce proper evidence upon return to work. Any employee abusing this privilege by attempting to collect Sick Pay Allowance under false pretences shall be subject to immediate dismissal.
