SUPERVISION EXERCISED. Administrative and functional supervision is exercised over designated work-study students. Dependent upon the position to be filled. TORT LIABILITY STATEMENT: Coordinates the College Risk Management Program in a capacity appropriate to this position. This includes, but is not limited to, monitoring conditions, events and circumstances present through daily College operations, and communicating observations to the appropriate supervisor or taking necessary actions to correct, prevent or limit safety problems. May serve as a member of a committee that supports the health, safety and/or legal rights of visitors, students and staff. Such committees may include the AA/EEO, Sexual Harassment, and Safety/Loss Control committees. (Risk Management Categories VI, VII, IX. See Tort file.) This description is intended to indicate the kinds and levels of work difficulty that will be required of the position that will be given the title and shall not be construed as declaring what specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position shall be. SUPERVISION EXERCISED. Coordinates and supervises outside vendors and/or anyone hired to work on the municipal alarm system and/or other related equipment. Program and trouble shoot new and existing AES fire alarm boxes. Perform site location tests for AES system sensitivity, Approve AES permits, assign zones and secure box number assignments as necessary. Work with Finance to maintain accurate billing information for installs, master box monitoring fees and other alarm system billing information as needed. Assist with Fire Prevention plans review and approval, with a specific focus on alarm systems requirements. Assist contractors with testing new and existing fire alarm systems and boxes. Maintain location information on all fire alarm cable, overhead (poles) and underground, and ensure that all digsafe requirements are met. Ensure that the alarm receiving equipment (presently Digitizer) at dispatch is operating correctly and make preemptive recommendations as needed to keep the system working trouble fee. Assist other city departments with security systems, fire alarm systems, CCTV systems, card access systems and other related equipment as authorized by the Fire Prevention Captain.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED. Supervises an assigned shift of emergency communications personnel. Supervises and participates as required in the dispatching of police, fire and emergency medical service units to emergencies; maintains computer aided dispatch (CAD) log and recording and status control devices; provides pre-arrival medical instructions to callers requiring emergency medical services. Participates in training personnel in the methods and procedures of call taking, police and fire dispatching, and related clerical work; plans and schedules shift assignments in accordance with direction provided by the Director of Communications. Supervises and participates as required in the broadcast of public safety communication; relays information to other emergency services; answers 911 calls for services and non-emergency calls as required; initiates and maintains direct contact with emergency units at stations or in the field. Participates in interviewing job applicants; monitors and evaluates employee performance, sets performance goals and objectives for employees, and makes disciplinary recommendations as appropriate. Reviews and evaluates randomly selected calls for service to evaluate performance and maintain quality assurance (QA) program. Participates in supervisory, leadership, and career development training. Schedules training of personnel with direction provided by the Director of Communications to ensure maintenance of certifications and skill levels. Counsels employees on conflicts and disputes, aiding in resolution when appropriate. Oversees the use of equipment, notifying the appropriate department/agency for repair or replacement when necessary. Reports to Director of Communications any significant status changes in personnel, equipment, and incidents of significance. Receives and processes customer service complaints under the direction of the Director of Communications Knowledge and understanding of the Incident Command System (ICS). Knowledge and understanding of organizational and command structure of each fire and police agency. Maintains policy and procedure manuals Maintains records of court order and warrants. Orders supplies for the unit. Performs related work as required. SUPERVISION EXERCISED. May provide on-the-job training to new employees in functions Primary Responsibilities: Have knowledge of operation and maintenance of all machines in the copy department, is capable of making minor adjustments to photocopy, fax, and plan machines; Reproduce variety of recorded legal documents upon request by the public, attorneys and private agencies, prepare documents for certification by the Register of Deeds or Deputy; Receive considerable amount of cash and properly record the cash into the computer, perform other related bookkeeping procedures, paid-receipts, billing; Operate the computer in performance of duties; Assist general public in the use of the facilities of the Registry of Deeds office, i.e., indexed, computer, maps, etc., as well as considerable ability to research, locate, interpret and apply recorded information; Ability to reply to corresponded and inquires not requiring policy decisions or action, particularly to know which letters may be sent as a matter of course and to have the judgment to know when the Register of Deeds should be consulted, maintain correspondence files; Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written directions; Answer the phone, take accurate copy or plan orders, answer inquiries pertaining to department; Proofread all processed and recreated volumes of recorded documents for accuracy and quality and mail back documents to customers when proofreading process is finished; Ability to cross-reference on the related documents (marginal notations) on the indexing phase in the computer; Research through files and/or indexes for information upon request for the public, or Register; Train operation of machines and procedures of operation; Responsible for maintaining a number or original recorded documents; Maintain adequate stocks and supplies, responsible for smooth operation of machines; Cross-train on various other jobs in the Deeds office at Registers request; Performs other duties as assigned.
