D HOLIDAYS. 11 Hours worked by nurses on New Year's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, July 12 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve Day, Christmas Day, 13 and such other days as the Medical Center may designate as holidays for 14 non-contractual employees during the term of the agreement will be paid 15 at the rate of time and one-half (1½) the nurse’s regular hourly rate. For 16 night shift nurses, the shift will be deemed to occur on one (1) of such 17 holidays if half (½) or more of the nurse's scheduled hours for the shift are 18 on the holiday. New Year's holiday for evening shift nurses is the evening 19 before the holiday.

D HOLIDAYS. (Articles to apply to full-time nurses only) A nurse who otherwise qualifies under Article hereunder shall receive twelve (12) paid holidays as designated the Appendix of Local Provisions. In the event that the Provincial Government declares an additional holiday (such as Heritage Day) during the term of this Agreement, such holiday will be substituted for one of the holidays. The designation of the additional holiday for an existing holiday shall be subject to local determination and such designation shall not add to the present number of holidays. If a recognized holiday i s observed during a nurse’s vacation or on her regular day off, she will be granted a lieu day off with no loss i n her regular rate of pay and on a day to be arranged between the nurse and the Director or her designate. The Hospital will undertake to schedule no less than five (5) consecutive days off to include either Christmas Eve and Christmas Day or New Eve and New Year’s Day for each nurse. The Hospital will endeavour to schedule Christmas and New Year’s holidays so that nurses will not be required to work on Christmas or New Year’s two (2) years in a row. For the purpose of this Article, Christmas shall be defined as December and 26th; and New Year’s as December and January 1st.
