Jury Duty and Court Service. An employee who is summoned and reports for jury duty as prescribed by applicable law or who is subpoenaed to serve as a witness in a court action involving the Board of Education or arising out of his/her employment, and upon providing proper notice to the employee's immediate supervisor, shall be paid by the Board an amount equal to the difference between the amount of the wages the employee would otherwise have earned by working during regularly scheduled hours for the Board on that day and the daily jury fees or witness fees paid or ordered paid by the Court (not including travel allowance or reimbursement of expenses) for each day on which he/she reports or performs jury duty or is in court or before an administrative tribunal as a witness and on which he/she would otherwise have been scheduled to work for the Board. Such leaves shall not be charged against the employee's sick and emergency leave allowance. The employee shall, upon demand, submit proof of such service and the amount of pay therefor. An employee is required to report to work any day in which he/she has not been requested to report for jury duty service or has been excused from jury duty service with more than three (3) hours remaining of his/ her scheduled shift.

Jury Duty and Court Service. A. When an employee is called for jury service, or to serve as a witness in a court action not involving the Board of Education, he shall give the Board of Education proper notice and the Board of Education will reimburse the employee for the difference between his regular pay and the amount he receives for court services except that amount received for mileage. B. When an employee is subpoenaed to serve as a witness in court action representing the Board of Education, such service will be included in his regular assignment. Any remuneration resulting from court service will be returned to the school with the understanding that the employee will be paid his regular wage or court service, whichever is greater. Any expense for meals and/or mileage shall be returned to the employee. C. Persons serving for a half day or less jury duty will be expected to report for work for half of their assignment for that day. Persons serving more than a half day will not be expected to report for work on that day.

Any juror’s fees received by a full-time faculty member will be reimbursed to the College. Part-time faculty members will reimburse juror’s fees only when receiving those fees on a day when he/she was scheduled to work at the College. 2. (b) If an employee is required to perform jury duty Vancity will pay the employee's regular wages for each scheduled shift that the employee attends court. (f) Employees shall return to work within a reasonable period of time. They shall not be required to report if less than two hours of their shift remains to be worked. (g) Total hours on jury duty and actual work on the job in the office in one day shall not exceed normal scheduled shift hours for purposes of establishing the basic workday. Any time worked in the office in excess of the combined total of the scheduled shift hours shall be considered overtime and paid as such.

D. Any witness fees, except expert witness fees, resulting from court service, shall be paid to the College minus any legitimate documented expenses. E. Time off duty under this section shall not affect accumulated sick, personal business, or vacation days.
