Paid and Unpaid Time Off. The Municipality will provide eligible employees with reasonable periods of paid time off in accordance with the accrual schedules for annual and sick leave. Additionally, employees will be eligible for specified periods of paid time off for military duty, court duty and bereavement leave for members of their immediate family. Temporary employees are not eligible for paid leave under any articles of this agreement. Under the conditions specified in this article, the Municipality may approve periods of unpaid time off to allow employees to meet personal, educational, family or medical needs.

For specific details and location of the Human Resource policies regarding: Bereavement Leave, Disability, Jury Duty and Leave of Absence (including Family Medical Leave), see the Resident Contract Reference Table also attached to each Resident Contract.

For purposes of this Section, eligible employees shall be defined as employees holding a scheduled bid, and all annual leave shall be accrued according to hours worked while holding such bid. Additionally, employees will be eligible for specified periods of paid time off for military duty, court duty, and bereavement leave for members of their immediate family.

Requests for more than five consecutive vacation days will be submitted two weeks in advance. Time spent on leaves provided for in this article will be considered service time with the Employer in computing and accruing seniority.

MFLCs are eligible to use scheduled PTO sixty (60) days after completion of their first 60 calendar days of an assignment. Eligible MFLCs may use Section 2. The following PTO accrual rates are based on an MFLC’s years of service, as defined in this Agreement:

(i) Full-time employees shall begin employment with an accrual opportunity of eighteen (18) days of annual paid time off leave allowance, (ii) Unused paid time off days may be carried over from year to year, with employees allowed a maximum accrual of eighteen (18) paid time off days. (iii) An employee on paid time off leave continues to accrue paid time off leave. b. Guild Business Leave: (i) Upon advance request, employees designated as Guild representatives will be granted limited time off from work, without loss of pay, to conduct necessary Guild business administering this Agreement. The request for use of Guild business time should be submitted as early as possible, and such requests will be granted by IHE except in the case of a legitimate organizational necessity requiring the employee’s attendance. No more than one (1) employee shall be entitled to Guild business time off at any one time. The Guild shall notify IHE in writing of employees designated as Guild representatives under this provision. (ii) For the purposes of contract bargaining between IHE and the Guild, up to three (3) employees designated by the Guild as members of the Guild’s negotiating committee may be given negotiating leave from their work, without loss of pay, for a maximum of four (4) hours per week per negotiating committee member, for use at the bargaining table and in caucus during bargaining sessions, for the duration of contract negotiations. Negotiating leave available under this section shall be in addition to Guild business available under Section 1, ((d,(i))) above. The Guild shall notify IHE in writing of the members of the negotiating committee before commencement of contract bargaining.
Paid and Unpaid Time Off. Section 24.1 PTO Eligibility. All employees shall be eligible to take paid time off (PTO) for vacation, sick, or personal reasons. All Employees will accrue 0.04615 (96/2080) hours of PTO for every hour worked. Employees accrue a maximum of 12 paid days (96 hours) per rolling 12-month period from the employee's hire date. Employees shall accrue a maximum h o u r s of 175% of the maximum days (calculated at 8 hours per day) accrued, and shall stop accruing upon reaching that amount. Paid and Unpaid Time Off. (a) An employee’s mental or physical illness, injury or health condition; an employee’s need for medical diagnosis, care, or treatment of a mental or physical illness, injury or health condition; an employee’s need for preventative medical care; (b) Sick leave is separate and in addition to vacation (c) Employees in Higher Education accounts accrue and may use sick leave as provided by the New Jersey State Earned Sick Leave Law. 14.2 All employees shall be entitled to up to 40 hours per year paid sick time based on the formula described in the NJ State Law (1 hour accumulated for every 30 hours worked) 14.3 Interaction with other Leave Any PTO used under this Article, shall also reduce the time available to the employee for use under the Family and Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”) and the N.J. Family Leave Act (“NJFLA”), to the maximum extent permissible under law. For example, if an employee uses one day of accrued PTO for an event that qualifies the employee for unpaid leave time under the FMLA, then the time the employee has available under the FMLA shall also be reduced by one day. The intent of this provision is to provide benefits that are fully coordinated with, but not cumulative of any rights the employee may have under the FMLA and the NJFLA. 14.4 All employees shall be entitled to up to 40 hours per year paid sick time based on the formula described in the NJ State Law (1 hour accumulated for every 30 hours worked)
