PART-TIME & TEMPORARY EMPLOYEES. Part-time temporary unit members having coverage, and who have maintained uninterrupted coverage from the 1977 fiscal year, in the District health and dental insurance programs shall be allowed continued coverage at their expense pursuant to carrier and District agreement. Part-time temporary unit members shall be allowed to participate in tax-sheltered programs in accordance with 21.2.
PART-TIME & TEMPORARY EMPLOYEES. 4.01 PART-TIME EMPLOYEES - A regular part-time employee shall be defined as one who works twenty (20) or more hours per week, but less than thirty (30) hours per week. A casual part-time employee shall be defined as one who works less than twenty (20) hours per week.

PART-TIME & TEMPORARY EMPLOYEES. The Employer may hire part-time temporary employees, also referred to as substitutes, under the following conditions:
1. The position is anticipated to last no longer than ninety (90) calendar days.
2. The position is posted and filled after ninety (90) calendar days according to the conditions agreed to in the contract.
3. The position does not reduce the job of any bargaining unit member.

PART-TIME & TEMPORARY EMPLOYEES. Temporary Employees
27.01 A temporary employee is one employed for a special project or for a specified time, in either case not exceed three months, except by mutual agreement.
27.02 The Union will give its agreement in the case of an employee hired to fill a temporary vacancy created by any regular employee's absence for up to twelve (12) months.
27.03 After any employee's period of temporary employment exceeds three (3) months, the Company will pay 70¢ per hour in lieu of benefits to that person under this collective agreement; except that no severance pay will be payable on termination necessitated only by the regular employee’s return to work
27.04 The period of temporary employment may be extended by mutual agreement.
27.05 The Union shall be notified in writing as to the nature of the employment of any temporary employee and the duration of such employment;
27.06 Temporary employees shall be excluded from all terms of this Agreement except appropriate hours, wages and overtime sections, and shall be covered by Union shop and check-off provisions.
27.07 Statutory holiday benefits will be provided in accordance with the terms of the Employment Standards Act and its regulations.

27.09 Temporary employees shall not be hired where, in effect, such employment would eliminate or displace a regular or full-time employee.
27.10 The Company agrees that a temporary employee who is rehired within four (4) months after termination of temporary employment shall be considered an employee under this Agreement and will be given credit for his/her temporary employment for such things as placement on and movement up the pay grid (if rehired in same classification as the temporary employment was in), seniority, vacation entitlement, sick leave and other length of service credits.
27.11 The Union recognizes the Company’s right to hire part-time employees but at no time will a part-time employee work less than four (4) hours per shift. In Creative Services, any part-time employee hired for less than a full shift must work within the hours of the latest scheduled shift.
27.12 A part time employee is one who is hired to work regularly less than the full-time hours as set out in Article 21.

2. A part-time or temporary employee shall not be employed for work normally or appropriately performed by a regular full-time employee (except to cover for them during scheduled absences), nor where, in effect, such employment would eliminate or displace a regular or full-time employee.
3. A part-time employee shall advance on the schedule of minimum salaries and shall accrue all benefits based on length of employment with the Employer, and not according to the actual hours worked.
PART-TIME & TEMPORARY EMPLOYEES. 14.01 Part-time and temporary employees shall not be hired to replace regular full-time employees, to prevent the hiring of regular full-time employees, or if their employment would result in reduced hours for regular full-time employees who would otherwise have done the required work. However, none of the above provisions shall prevent the Company from employing such temporary or part-time help as is required to fill vacancies due to illness, vacations and days off amongst regular full-time employees or peak business periods. Co-Op, school sponsored or Government sponsored employees shall not be allowed to perform bargaining unit work to the extent that they would reduce the hours of the full or part-time employees.
