Preferential Hiring. Employees laid off by the Company shall have preferential hiring rights for a period of time equal to their recall rights.

Preferential Hiring. 18.01 Prior to hiring outside, the Company will offer employment in any bargaining unit covered by this Agreement to those employees including skilled trades or production groups who have been laid off from another bargaining unit covered by this Agreement, in accordance with the following; with the exclusion of employees transferred for the purpose of vacation replacement (see Letter 20)
a) There must be an available job, which the Company anticipates will last at least thirty (30) days.
b) The employee must be qualified to perform the available job.
c) At the time of each layoff, except for temporary layoffs as defined in the Local Agreements, laid off employees will be solicited by the Company as to their willingness to accept employment in another bargaining unit covered by this agreement, and a list of such employees will be prepared.
d) Employees on this list will be offered available jobs as they occur, and must accept such available job offers within twenty-four (24) hours of receiving the offer.
e) Listed employees who refuse a job offer will have their names removed from the list.
f) Employees laid off who either refused an offer or declined to be put on the list, will be added to the list at their request, when made in writing. Additions to the list will be put in order received.
a) Any employee who accepts such opportunity will have seniority status as of the date of entry into the new plant, but will carry on previously accumulated seniority for all fringe benefit purposes.
b) If the employee is recalled to his/her original plant and he/she refuses or fails to return, he/she will maintain seniority accumulated from date of entry into the new plant, but will forfeit all seniority at the previous location.
c) Should the employee not be recalled, he/she will accumulate seniority from date of entry into the new plant.
Preferential Hiring. The Company will give preferential consideration to a person who has been laid off from a Works of the Company, and who possesses recall rights, for purposes of hiring into permanent vacancies at another Works, provided that such person is physically fit and possesses the necessary basic skills to perform the available work. In order to be eligible for such consideration, the former employee must make special application to the Company so as to declare his/her interest for alternative employment. Such applicants shall be assessed on the basis of their former service. In this regard, the Company agrees to the following:
Preferential Hiring. During the life of this Collective Agreement, should the P AM Tilbury or Windsor operations hire new employees, seniority employees indefinitely laid-off from the Chatham operation, consistent with their seniority within the Chatham bargaining unit, may elect to be hired as an employee at the Tilbury or Windsor facility assuming they are qualified for the positions available. He/She will not be required to serve a new probationary period, however, will be paid in accordance with the new hire wage and benefit structure of the Tilbury or Windsor location. Fringe benefits eligibility will be effective upon his/her date of hire. The Company will recognize years of service for vacation, and continuous service for early retirement pension provisions, and each pension plan will be calculated using the actual "credited'" pension service (if applicable) earned in each plan. In addition, the employee's attendance and discipline history related to his/her employment in the Chatham facility will remain active, consistent with the terms and conditions of the Tilbury or Windsor Collective Agreements. Should the employee be recalled back to the Chatham operation, and accept the recall, he/she will be restricted from exercising this right for the remainder of this Collective Agreement. Should an employee on lay-off request, in writing, to exercise his/her preferential hiring rights in Tilbury or Windsor, the Company will notify him/her of such opportunity. Preferential Hiring. An employee with seniority laid off or contemplated to be laid off for a period of fifteen (15) consecutive working days at any plant covered by this Agreement who desires employment at another plant covered by this Agreement may make application and will be given preference for employment over other applicants. As a convenience to laid off employees who wish to make application for employment at other plants covered by this Agreement, the Company will maintain at each plant a current list of other plants which are hiring new employees and will have available application forms. An employee hired for work at another plant will not be required to serve a probationary period but his/her seniority will be date of entry into the hiring plant. He/she will, however, retain his/her accrued fringe benefits based on his/her total Company seniority. An employee who has been hired, must report for work on the date specified by the Company or he/she will forfeit his/her right for any preferential hire for one (1) year from such specified date.
