Sick Leave Gratuity. During the lifetime of the collective agreement retirement gratuities will remain as status quo in accordance with the former Xxxxxxxx Board of Education or the former Wentworth County Board of Education Sick Leave Gratuity Plans. (See Appendix “A” attached).

Sick Leave Gratuity a) This plan shall apply to all full-time and permanent part-time Teachers employed by the Board. b) A Teacher who has served with the Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board or its predecessor board for twelve (12) consecutive years and who has applied for a pension or commuted value under the provision of the Teachers' Pension Act, shall be entitled to a sick-leave gratuity on retirement. c) The amount of the gratuity shall be calculated as follows: N x S 200 x 5 - where N is the number of unused accumulated sick-leave credit days at the time of separation from the Board (maximum 200 days), and S is the final rate of salary at the date of separation from the Board. d) The sick-leave gratuity will be paid following retirement in the following manner as requested by the Teacher i) one payment ii) four equal yearly payments e) In the event that a Teacher dies after retirement but before having received the full sick-leave gratuity, the balance of any such gratuity shall be paid to the Estate of the Teacher. f) In the event of death of a Teacher with a minimum of twelve (12) consecutive years employment with the Board or its predecessor board prior to retirement, and where death occurs before retirement, the benefits of this plan shall be paid to the Teacher's estate.
Sick Leave Gratuity. Subject to the provisions of any General or Special Act of the Legislature of Ontario, now or hereafter enacted, the Board shall, on the termination of an employee's service with the Board, compute the amount of such employee's sick leave credit account by multiplying the number of days standing to the employee's credit in the account by the then per diem salary subject to (h) below and,
Sick Leave Gratuity. All employees after completion of ten (10) years continuous service shall, upon retirement or upon severance of service other than dismissal for cause, be paid a gratuity for the unused balance of sick leave, if any, due them at that time up to a maximum of fifty-seven (57) working days. In the event of death of any employee before retirement, the Sick Leave Gratuity shall be paid to a surviving spouse, or in the event of there being no surviving spouse, be paid at the discretion of the Employer to a dependent immediate family member.
Sick Leave Gratuity. Retirement Gratuities were frozen as of August 31, 2012. A Teacher is not eligible to receive a sick leave credit gratuity or any non-sick leave credit retirement gratuity (such as, but not limited to, service gratuities or RRSP contributions) after August 31, 2012, except a sick leave credit gratuity that the Teacher had accumulated and was eligible to receive as of that day. The following language applies only to those teachers eligible for the gratuity below: L8.05.01 When a Teacher who has at least ten (10) years continuous service with the Board retires on a pension or is entitled because of age to a deferred pension or who, after ten (10) continuous years of service, is forced to retire due to illness but still merits a pension according to the Teachers’ Pension Act, the Board will pay to the Teacher their accumulated leave in the form of a retiring allowance. In these cases, the ten (10) years continuous service must L8.05.02 The allowance will be calculated on the basis of 1/2 the number of sick leave days standing to the Teacher’s credit x 1/200 of the Teacher’s annual salary at the time of retirement to a maximum of 50% of annual salary in accordance with the intention of the Education Act (1974) section 155 (8). L8.05.03 The recipients shall receive one (1) total payment by July 8 unless they inform the Board in writing that they wish to defer part of the payment to the following January. L8.05.04 A teacher that submits a resignation by January 31st that is accepted by the Board shall receive their retirement gratuity prior to the end of February on the understanding that any adjustment for overpayment will be made to salary at the end of the school year.
Sick Leave Gratuity. (a) During the lifetime of the collective agreement retirement gratuities for all current employees will remain as status quo in accordance with the former Wentworth County Board of Education. (Former Plan attached as information). (b) Effective September 1, 2001, retirement gratuities for all current employees will remain as status quo in accordance with the former Xxxxxxxx Board of Education, with the exception of the maximum retirement gratuity payment for those employees hired after June 30, 1977. The maximum retirement gratuity payment will be based upon one-half (1/2) the number of sick leave days remaining in an employee’s account at time of retirement multiplied by the employee’s per diem salary at time of retirement up to a maximum of one-half (1/2) year’s salary. 2. All new employees hired on and after September 1, 1999 shall be required to serve 20 years in the employment of the Board in order to qualify for a retirement gratuity. (a) For employees hired on and after September 1, 1999, an employee is entitled to an amount equal to one half the number of sick leave days remaining in the account at time of retirement multiplied by the employee’s per diem rate at time of retirement up to a maximum payment of one-half (1/2) year’s salary. (b) Neither a sick leave gratuity nor a retiring allowance shall be paid to an employee who is dismissed by the Board for just cause. (c) Employees who have received a retirement/sick leave gratuity from the Board or predecessor Board will be ineligible to receive another one. 3. An employee retiring from the Board must be eligible for a pension under the terms of the O.M.E.R.S. Pension Plan in order to be eligible for a retiring gratuity. 4. The Sick Leave Gratuity shall be paid in one lump sum and shall be paid within sixty (60) days following satisfactory proof being submitted by the employee that the employee is in receipt of an O.M.E.R.S. Pension.
Sick Leave Gratuity. In order to administer Appendix A the local provisions governing sick leave gratuities in effect on August 31, 2012 should be inserted in the local terms. A note may be inserted that these provisions are subject to Appendix A of Part A of the agreement.

Sick Leave Gratuity. At the last pay period of the calendar year, an Employee, at their option, may bank or receive payment for 1/3 of the sick leave remaining to their credit from the annual sick leave entitlement of 18 days at the end of each calendar year, at the Employee’s rate of pay in effect for that pay period; the payment of this gratuity to be based on the following understanding: 1. There shall be no payment of gratuity during the first 12 months of work. At the end of an Employee’s 2nd calendar year of service, their unused sick leave accumulated to that date will be used as the basis for calculating the payment. 2. If any sick leave is used in the current year after the date on which the gratuity is calculated, an appropriate adjustment will be made to charge that sick leave used against the sick leave earned in the following calendar year.
Sick Leave Gratuity. 18.01 (a) Upon retirement on an O.M.E.R.S. Pension or at normal retirement age as defined by Board Policy, a Member of ten or more years of consecutive service immediately preceding retirement with the Waterloo Region District School Board or its predecessors shall be eligible for a sick leave retirement gratuity calculated on the following basis: (i) 1. From September 1, 1977, full accumulation of unused sick leave days will be permitted, with a maximum accumulation as of June 30, 1977, of 260 days. In cases of a Member’s illness or disability, this reserve of sick leave days shall be reduced by the number of days of the Member’s absence above the credited allowance for the current year. Days of absence while a Member is on the L.T.D. plan will not be charged against the accumulated Retirement Sick Leave Days.
