Standard Overtime. A. The smallest unit of time credited as overtime shall be one-tenth (1/10) hour. B. Overtime worked that is less than one-quarter (1/4) hour shall be rounded off to the nearest quarter hour each week. C. Overtime credit must be for work specifically suffered, ordered, requested or approved by the department head or a designated representative. Overtime compensation or compensating time shall be earned at the rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) times the eligible hours. D. Overtime compensation or compensating time shall be granted for hours exceeding forty (40) hours of time actually worked. Time worked includes all paid hours including sick leave, leaves during which Worker Compensation is paid, pre-approved vacation time, holidays, furloughs, or any other time away from the job that is paid. The normal work week varies among City employees, and shall be determined by the employees official schedule or other approved schedule documentation on file in the Human Resources Department. Work, other than normal work schedule, directed for annual special events, such as the International Fair & Parade, the Independence Day celebration, Auto Heritage Days, Chili Cook-off, City-Wide Free Trash Pickup Days, and the Street Light Inspection Program, will be compensated according to overtime rates. For those events where the City Council approves overtime, employees working those events shall receive overtime pay. X. Xx employee who is directed by the department director to attend commission or council meetings held after normal working hours will be compensated per the "call-back" provision.

An employee who is required to work in excess of sixteen (16) continuous hours excluding the non-paid lunch period of a day worker shall be paid two (2) times his or her regular rate of pay for all such continuous hours worked in excess of sixteen (16). d. An employee who is required to work overtime beyond the end of his or her scheduled shift shall receive not less than four (4) hours pay at straight time, or one and one-half (1-1/2) times his or her regular rate for such work performed, whichever is greater. It is understood that this section does not apply to an employee who may be required to remain on his or her assignment due to the absence or tardiness of another employee who is scheduled to relieve him or her. e. An employee who is not notified prior to the beginning of the applicable workweek shall receive not less than four (4) hours pay at straight time, or one and one-half (1-1/2) times his or her regular rate for such work performed, whichever is greater, when required to work prior and continuous to the beginning of his or her regular scheduled shift.
Standard Overtime a. No employee working under this agreement will receive a windfall under the contract by working a 10 hour shift as opposed to the normal 8 hour schedule. e. Temporary changes in the permanent work schedules will not be made for the purpose of avoiding overtime payment.

The allowance of a premium payment, other than a shift premium or weekend premium, for any hour for which an employee receives compensation eliminates that hour from consideration for premium payment on any other basis. If time worked falls under two or more premium pay classifications, the higher rate shall prevail. D. Any fixed shift employee that works more than two hours past their normal scheduled shift will be paid a meal allowance of seven dollars ($7.00). An additional meal allowance will be paid for each consecutive four (4) hours of work performed thereafter. No time will be deducted for eating lunch during overtime work, it being understood that time consumed in eating lunch will be made as short as possible and in no case exceed thirty (30) minutes. E. Paid absence due to fragmented vacation, funeral leave, and holiday will count as time worked in determining if an employee is to be compensated at time and one-half (1-1/2) for all hours worked in excess of forty (40) within the applicable payroll week.

Standard Overtime. An employee shall be offered the following options when required to work in excess of the normal work week, i.e. 37-l/2 hours in a seven (7) day period commencing at 12:01 a.m. Monday and ending at midnight the following Sunday: 1. Compensatory time off at the rate of time-and-one-half for each overtime hour, or part thereof, worked by the employee. 2. Compensation at the rate of time-and-one-half the employee's regular rate for each overtime hour, or part thereof, worked by the employee. Compensatory time off shall be allowed to accrue to a maximum of 60 overtime hours (40 hours times 1.5), and should be taken by the end of the semester in which the time is accrued, but, in any event, must be taken prior to June 30 of the year in which the time is accrued. The employer shall arrange, with the employee, a schedule to use all accrued compensatory time prior to June 30 of each year or pay the employee for any remaining unused compensatory time. Overtime for which the employee is to be provided compensatory time off shall be subject to advance approval of the employee's immediate supervisor.
