Paid Absences. If the employee’s Quarterly Absence is more than 16 hours for paid absence and the employee’s Annual Absence is more than 64 hours, the supervisor should conduct a review of the employee’s absence record to determine if a pattern of absence abuse exists. If a pattern is identified, appropriate corrective action should be taken
Paid Absences. The Company does not have a formal paid vacation or illness policy for its officers. Accordingly, officers are expected to use their reasonable judgment and professional discretion when requesting paid time off for any reason, in light of their current work schedules and the Company’s business and operational requirements. Paid absences must be reasonably requested in advance and approved by the CEO.
Paid Absences. Section 13.1 The parties mutually recognize the need for employees, in time of sickness, matters of emergency, or other circumstances beyond the control of the employee, to have a degree of security in regard to salary. Therefore, the following provisions are hereby established.
Section 13.2 Employees shall receive twelve (12) sick leave days at the beginning of each school year. Sick leave days will accumulate from year to year. Sick time can be used in increments of no less than one hour.
Section 13.3 Other absences with the knowledge of the employee's immediate supervisor up to and including three (3) personal days a year will not result in a reduction in an employee's salary. Personal Day is defined as that activity which could not be acted upon except during school hours. The use of personal days immediately before and/or after a holiday or a recess period for travel or to otherwise extend the holiday or recess period is specifically prohibited. The period of absence without loss of pay may be extended beyond three (3) days for such occurrence upon the approval of the Superintendent. The Superintendent's decisions relative to such extension of paid absence is not grievable.
Section 13.4 Up to five (5) days may be used for illness in the immediate family. After five (5) days it is expected that the employee can make appropriate arrangements for the care of the ill member of her/his immediate family. However, additional days may be granted upon the approval of the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. Immediate family in this section will mean husband, wife, mother, father, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister, brother, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, daughter, son, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, grandmother, grandfather, grandchild, or other relatives living within the same household. For relatives not covered in this paragraph, the employee may appeal to the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. The decision of the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources is not grievable.
Section 13.5 A maximum of five (5) bereavement days may be used for a death in the immediate family, as defined in Section 13.4. One day will be granted to attend the funeral of a friend or relative not covered in Section 13.4. However, additional days may be granted upon approval of the Superintendent or designee.

Paid Absences a) An employee shall be paid at his or her regular rate of pay up to a maximum of five (5) days pay during absence required for attending the funeral of a member of the employee’s immediate family, defined for the purpose hereof, to include the employee’s spouse/domestic partner, parent, child or sibling. An employee shall be paid at his regular rate of pay up to a maximum of three (3) days for attending the funeral of grandparents or grandchildren. The above provisions apply to relationships established through births, adoption, marriage or domestic partnership* including in-laws and step relations. Employees shall be paid at their regular rate for one (1) day for aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
b) It is mutually agreed that when the employee's regularly scheduled days off occur during the period, he shall receive no pay for these days nor shall he extend his period of absence beyond the time required for attending the funeral.
c) It is also mutually agreed that circumstances may arise which justify payment other than those provisions covered in Section 1. The Employer will determine if payment should be made in these circumstances based on the facts surrounding the particular incident.
SECTION 2 The Employer agrees that regular employees who are required by law to serve on juries, and who actually serve, shall be excused their entire tours during the period of jury service and shall be paid wages at their regular rates of pay for the time absent. In those cases, however, where the employee is temporarily excused from reporting for jury service for a whole workday or more, he shall report for Company duty.
SECTION 3 Employees who have passed their probationary period shall be entitled to three (3) sick and two (2) personal days with pay each calendar year. Personal days may be requested with at least 24 hour notice to their supervisor. Personal/Sick days shall not carry over from year to year.
SECTION 4 Each employee will receive eight (8) hours excused work per year with pay eight (8) hours prior notice to his supervisor for doctor, dentist, etc. Consideration will be given in emergency situations to not require 8 hours notice for excused time off. Such time may be taken as a full day. Such time may be taken in two (2) hour increments.
Paid Absences. Contributions will continue during periods of paid leave, including during any period in respect of which a Doctor is entitled to receive workers compensation and make up pay in accordance with subclause 45.3. Contributions will not be paid in respect of accrued annual leave paid on termination.

Paid Absences. 8.01 In the case of death in the immediate family of an employee, excused time off, with pay for scheduled time, will be granted for up to five (5) consecutive workdays. The term “immediate family” as used herein, is defined as mother, father, brother, sister, spouse, child, stepparent, stepchild, stepbrother and stepsister. In addition, excused time off, with pay for scheduled time, will be granted for up to three (3) consecutive workdays for other covered family members. The term “other covered family members: as used herein, is defined as aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, grandparent, grandchild, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law and grandparent-in- law. Additional time off, without pay, may be granted if necessary and requested, at the Company’s discretion. Employee(s) will be excused, without pay, for a reasonable amount of scheduled time while serving as a pall-bearer in a funeral. The Company may limit the number of employees from any one (1) work group who may be excused.
8.02 The Company shall be promptly notified prior to intended absence or funeral leave. In no case will payment be granted in lieu of time off, nor will payment be made if death and funeral occur during the employee's vacation period or other non-work time.
8.03 Any regular full-time employee or regular part-time employee shall be excused from his/her regular duties on any day he/she is required to serve on jury duty, or as a subpoenaed witness (unless as a plaintiff), provided appropriate proof of such requirement is provided to the Company within a reasonable period of time prior to any such service. Accordingly, the employee will receive their regular straight-time pay in addition to the jury duty or witness pay.
8.04 In order to be eligible for this benefit, employees who are dismissed from jury duty or witness duty with one-half (1/2) or more of their tour remaining shall report to work for the remainder of their tour. Hours on such duty on days not scheduled to be worked will not be paid by the Company. Employees are requested to work full-time when not actually required to perform services as specified above. Employees whose regular weekly work schedules are inconsistent with the normal hours of the court or grand jury involved, and who serve on a jury or who perform services in a governmental election or appear as a subpoenaed witness shall be permitted to reschedule their work in order to receive the benefits under this Art...
Paid Absences. The employee shall be entitled to be absent from work on full pay on those days recognized by law and the company policy.
Paid Absences. The parties mutually recognize the need for employees, in time of sickness, matters of emergency, or other circumstances beyond the control of the employee, to have a degree of security in regard to salary. Therefore, the following provisions are hereby established:
20.9.1 The district agrees to grant payment for ten (10) days for the illness or a dependent of the administrator living in the administrator’s household, bereavement and personal business for each of the first two years, twelve (12) days for the third, fourth, and fifth year of service as an administrator and fifteen (15) days for administrators beginning their sixth year of service to the Avondale School District. To initiate this bank for administrators hired before January 1, 2008 the administrator will receive the full number of days based on their years of service to the district as an administrator or 90 days, whichever is greater. Benefits received by the administrator from Avondale's Workers Compensation insurance in combination with payment by Avondale, shall not exceed the administrator's annual contract amount.
20.9.2 Other absences of up to and including four (4) days for bereavement and personal business shall not result in a reduction in an administrator's salary. The period of absence without loss of pay may be extended beyond four (4) days for each occurrence upon the approval of the Superintendent or designee. All absences resulting from bereavement or personal business will be deducted from the administrator’s sink bank. The Superintendent's or designee's decision relative to such extension of paid absence is not grievable. Except for emergencies, absences may not be requested for days immediately preceding or following those times when children are absent from school for holidays, vacations, breaks, etc.
20.9.3 The administrator may accumulate a maximum of 180 days of leave.
Paid Absences. In the case of certain events, employees with a monthly salary are entitled to paid leisure time in accordance with the following list:
a) Own marriage 3 days
b) Death of a spouse or life partner, child, parent or other close relative up to 3 days
c) For adoptive parents after adoption 10 days
d) Own house move 1 day e) Sudden serious illness of spouse or life partner, parent up to 2 days
