Trade union leave. An employee who is a member of the board of a trade union or who is a delegate of a section of a trade union is entitled, insofar as the work permits this, to at most ten days of paid leave each year to attend trade union meetings. An employee who is a member of a trade union is entitled, insofar as the work permits this, to a maximum of six days of paid leave each year to attend courses organised by or on behalf of the trade union, if the employers believe that the course is also of direct interest to the company and the leave was applied for in good time. Trade union leave may be taken in whole days and in parts of a day.

Trade union leave. If you are a member of one of the governing bodies of the trade unions or a department representative you can, if work allows, take up to ten days paid leave per calendar year to attend union meetings. If you are a member of a trade union without being a member of one of the governing bodies or a department representative you can, if work allows, take up to four days leave per calendar year to attend these meetings. To follow courses provided by the trade unions you can, if work allows, take up to six days additional leave, provided the course is also in your employer’s interest. If you are a member of the trade union concerned, you may take the time off that is needed for trade union negotiations with your employer. A trade union can reach further agreements with the company’s management about exceeding the maximum ten days’ special leave for employees who are members of one of the governing bodies of the trade union or are department representatives as referred to above. The total facility of on average ten days per employee will not be exceeded in this case.
Trade union leave. Subject to the operational requirements of the relevant work area, a staff member who is nominated by the Union to attend a trade union training course, seminar or development activity including Council meetings, will be granted leave with full pay for the duration of the course, seminar or activity up to a total of five days in any one calendar year. Leave is non-cumulative. A staff member taking trade union training leave is required to give the Authorising Officer reasonable notice of the leave of absence. An elected member of NTEU National Council will be entitled to an additional five days leave with full pay.
Trade union leave. 48.1 The granting of special leave with pay will apply to the following activities or training undertaken by a union delegate, as specified below: (a) Annual or biennial conferences of the Australian Workers Union; (b) Meetings of the Australian Workers Union Executive, Committee of Management or Councils; (c) Annual conference of the Labor Council of New South Wales and the biennial Congress of the Australian Council of Trade Unions; (d) Attending meetings called by the Labor Council of New South Wales involving the Australian Workers Union which requires attendance of a delegate; (e) Attending meetings called by State Water as and when required; (f) Giving evidence before an Industrial Tribunal as a witness for the Australian Workers Union; (g) Accredited Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) courses and any other accredited OH&S training for OH&S Committee members; (h) Courses organised and conducted by the Trade Union Education Foundation or by the Australian Workers Union or a training provider nominated by the Australian Workers Union. A maximum of 12 working days in any period of two years applies to this training and is subject to: (i) The operating requirements of the workplace permitting the grant of leave and the absence not requiring employment of relief staff; (ii) Payment being at the base rate, i.e. excluding extraneous payments such as shift allowances/penalty rates, overtime, etc.; (i) Reasonable travelling time to and from conferences or meetings to which the provisions of this clause apply. (j) All travelling and associated expenses being met by the staff member or the Australian Workers Union; (k) Attendance being confirmed in writing by the Australian Workers Union or a nominated training provider.
Trade union leave. The Chairman of the Hotel Employees Association of Xxxxxx, if they are also a Member of the Board of Directors of the Labour Centre of Xxxxxx, shall be entitled to a trade union leave of up to thirty (30) days, per calendar year. The General Secretary, the Vice-Chairman and the Treasurer of the Hotel Employees Association of Xxxxxx shall be entitled to a trade union leave, provided that they are employed by hotel enterprises with more than three hundred (300) beds, up to fifteen (15) days each, per calendar year. All of the above shall be insured and fully paid by the enterprise in which they work, throughout the duration of their trade union leave.
Trade union leave. (i) Eligibility - Applies to members of the Union accredited by the Union as a delegate. (ii) Paid Special Leave - Paid special leave is available for attendance at: (a) annual or bi-annual conferences of the delegate’s union; and (b) meetings of the union’s executive/Committee of Management; or (c) annual conference of Unions NSW; or (d) bi-annual conference of the Australian Council of Trade Unions. (iii) Limits - There is no limit on the special leave that could be applied for or granted. It is expected, however, that the leave would be kept to a minimum and that, on average, not more than 5 days special leave per year would need to be taken. (iv) Responsibilities of the Union Delegate - Responsibilities of the union delegate are: (a) to establish accreditation as a delegate with the union; (b) to provide sufficient notice of absence to the employer; and (c) to lodge a formal application for special leave. (v) Responsibilities of the Union - Responsibilities of the union are: (a) to provide documentary evidence to the employer about an accredited delegate in sufficient time to enable the employer to make arrangements for performance of duties; (b) to meet all travelling, accommodation and any other costs incurred by the accredited delegate; and (c) to provide the employer with confirmation of attendance of the accredited delegate. (vi) Responsibilities of the Employer - Responsibilities of the employer are: (a) to release the accredited delegate for the duration of the conference or meeting; (b) to grant special leave (with pay); and (c) to ensure that the duties of the absent delegate are performed in his/her absence, if appropriate. (vii) Period of Notice - Generally, dates of conferences or meetings are known well in advance and it is expected that employers would be notified as soon as accreditation has been given to a delegate or at least two weeks before the date of attendance. Where extraordinary meetings are called at short notice, a shorter period of notice would be acceptable, provided such notice is given to the employer as soon as advice of the meeting is received by the accredited delegate. (viii) Travel Time - Where a delegate has to travel to Sydney, inter or intra state, to attend a conference or meeting, special leave will also apply to reasonable travelling time to and from the venue of the conference or meeting. Trade union leave. The Company will provide reasonable leave to delegates to attend trade union training courses. The amount of leave allowed each year will be 5 days (cumulative). Approval of additional leave will be determined by the Senior Human Resource Advisor in consultation with the relevant Supervisor and the Union Representative requesting the leave. There is nothing preventing a union representative utilising other forms of leave for which they have an accrued entitlement for the purpose of Trade Union training. Approval for other forms of leave for the purpose of attending trade union training will remain at the discretion of the Supervisor and Human Resource Representative in accordance with standard protocols.
