ARTICLE PAID HOLIDAYS. The Corporation recognizes the following paid holidays at the employee's standard rate of pay: New Year's Day Civic Day Second Monday in February Labour Day Good Friday Thanksgiving Day Easter Monday Remembrance Day Victoria Day Christmas Day Canada Day Boxing Day ARTICLE PAID HOLIDAYS (continued) and, any other day proclaimed as a holiday by the Federal, Provincial, or Municipal Government. A employee who is not required to work on the above paid holidays shall receive holiday pay equal to one normal day's pay or a lieu day off with pay at a time mutually agreeable to the Corporation and the employee, provided that she has worked her full scheduled shift immediately preceding and succeeding the paid holiday unless excused in writing by her supervisor or the Administrator. The Corporation may require employees to work on paid holidays; and it is agreed that they will receive time and one-half (1 for the time worked: and, in addition, they shall receive a lieu day off with pay at a time mutually agreeable to the Corporation and the employee. When an employee is scheduled to work on a paid holiday and does not work, she shall not be paid for the holiday unless excused in writing by her supervisor or the Administrator. It is further agreed that part-time employees covered by this Agreement have the same responsibility to work on paid holidays when required. It is understood that an employee will not be required to work her scheduled shift before or after a paid holiday if she is absent on sick leave, or if she is on an authorized leave of absence. If a paid holiday is observed during an employee's vacation, such employee shall be given another day's vacation with pay or wages in lieu thereof. Part-time employees will be paid for time worked at the rate of double time and one-half (2.5). Such employees may opt to take an unpaid day off in lieu of the holiday worked. If they do not work a holiday, they shall be paid in accordance with the Employment Employees shall be allowed to accumulate no than five lieu days for use at a later date at a mutually agreeable time. ARTICLE PAID HOLIDAYS. For the purpose of this Agreement, the following days shall be recognized as paid holidays for employees who have completed their probationary period under this Agreement except as otherwise specified by the Standards Act and provided that the employee qualifies under this Article New Day Good Friday Labour Day Day Victoria Day Canada Day (July 1st) Civic Holiday Christmas Day Boxing Day In order to qualify for holiday pay, an employee must work his full work day immediately preceding such holiday and full work day immediately following such holiday unless excused in writing from doing so by the Employer. However, in lieu of this provision, the Employer may substitute another day for the paid holiday which day shall not be later than the next annual vacation of the employee, and the day so substituted shall be deemed to be the paid holiday. Where a paid holiday falls on an employee's day off or during the vacation period, the Employer shall pay the employee his regular wages for the paid holiday or shall designate a day that is not later than the next annual vacation of the employee and the day so designated shall be deemed to be the holiday, When an employee is scheduled to work on a holiday and does not work, he shall not be paid for the holiday unless excused in writing by the Employer. There shall be no pyramiding of premium pay, overtime pay and paid holiday pay.
ARTICLE PAID HOLIDAYS. The intent is that there shall be no more than twelve (12) paid holidays during the term of this Agreement. If another Federal, Provincial, or municipal holiday should be proclaimed during the term of the collective agreement, such additional holiday would replace one (1) of the designated holidays in the collective agreement. Subject to the provisions of this Article, an employee shall receive holiday pay for each of the holidays listed in Article as if he or she had worked a regular shift at his or her regular straight-time, hourly rate. In order to qualify for holiday pay, an employee must have a minimum of one month's service and have worked his or her last full regularly required shift immediately preceding and his or her first regularly scheduled required shift immediately succeeding the holiday. In the event that an employee cannot work his or her regularly required shift immediately preceding and/or succeeding such holiday by reason of illness (as authenticated by medical certificate if required by the Employer) or absence on bereavement leave, the employee shall qualify for holiday pay. If any of the foregoing holidays occur on an employee's regular day off, the employee will receive an additional day off with pay, or payment for the holiday in lieu thereof by mutual agreement between the Employer and the employee. An employee required to work on any of the foregoing holidays shall be paid time and one-half his or her straight-time hourly rate for time worked on such holiday in addition to any holiday pay to which he or she may be entitled or, by mutual agreement between the Employer and the Employee, the Employee may be paid at the rate of time and one-half for the time worked up to a maximum of eight (8) hours, and double time thereafter and receive a day off with pay in lieu thereof to be taken on a date that is mutually agreeable to the employee and employer. ARTICLE PAID HOLIDAYS. All employees who are covered by the terms of this Collective Agreement and who have completed the probationary period outlined herein shall receive the following holidays with pay. Holiday pay will be computed on the basis of the normally scheduled shift hours at an employee's regular hourly rate. New Year's Day Victoria Day Civic Holiday Christmas Day Boxing Day Easter Monday Good Friday Canada Day Labour Day Remembrance Day Thanksgiving Day For the paid holidays, as defined above, work performedon the holiday shall be paid at the rate of one-and-one-half times the regular hourly rate for all hours worked plus holiday pay. If a paid holiday is observed during an employee's annual vacation period, payment for such holiday will be made as provided in or the employee may have a day in lieu with pay at the end of vacation period in which the holiday occurred. ARTICLE PAID HOLIDAYS. (a) The Corporation agrees to pay employees for each of the holidays listed hereunder a sum equivalent to their basic pay on such a day provided they complete the regularly assigned hours of work on the day immediately prior to and following the day of the celebration of the holiday, except for absences as specifically provided in the Agreement.
