ARTICLE PAID HOLIDAYS. For the purpose of this Agreement, the following days shall be recognized as paid holidays for employees who have completed their probationary period under this Agreement except as otherwise specified by the Standards Act and provided that the employee qualifies under this Article New Day Good Friday Labour Day Day Victoria Day Canada Day (July 1st) Civic Holiday Christmas Day Boxing Day In order to qualify for holiday pay, an employee must work his full work day immediately preceding such holiday and full work day immediately following such holiday unless excused in writing from doing so by the Employer. An employee who is required to work on a paid holiday shall be paid for authorized work performed on such day at the rate of one and one-half times (1 his regular straight time hourly rate for all hours worked and in addition, provided he qualifies, his holiday pay for the said holiday. However, in lieu of this provision, the Employer may substitute another day for the paid holiday which day shall not be later than the next annual vacation of the employee, and the day so substituted shall be deemed to be the paid holiday. Where a paid holiday falls on an employee's day off or during the vacation period, the Employer shall pay the employee his regular wages for the paid holiday or shall designate a day that is not later than the next annual vacation of the employee and the day so designated shall be deemed to be the holiday, When an employee is scheduled to work on a holiday and does not work, he shall not be paid for the holiday unless excused in writing by the Employer. There shall be no pyramiding of premium pay, overtime pay and paid holiday pay.

ARTICLE PAID HOLIDAYS. (The following central provision will be appropriately reflected in the collective agreements as Article The designated will also be set out in this Article:) The agreements shall provide eleven paid holidays with appropriate payment to all employees who have completed twenty (20) days worked with the employer, provided that he fulfils the qualifying conditions, if any, set out in the respective collective agreements. Effective April the collective agreements shall provide for twelve (12) paid holidays subject to the terms and conditions set out herein. (The following clause will appear in all collective agreements replacing any provision related to Work on a Paid Holiday that existed in the Hospital’s expiring collective agreement:) An employee required to work on any of the designated holidays listed in the collective agreement shall be paid at the rate oftime and one-half (I his straight time rate of pay for all hours worked on such holiday, subject to Article In addition, he will receive a day off with pay in the amount of his regular straight time hourly rate of pay times seven and one-half (7 hours, except in those hospitals which have a standard work day of less than seven and one-half (7 hours in which case holiday pay will be based on the standard daily hours in that hospital. (The following clause appear in all collective agreements replacing any provisions related to Payment of Holiday and Sick Pay that existed in the Hospital’s expiring collective agreements:) An employee who qualifies to receive pay for any holiday will not be entitled, in the event of illness, to receive sick pay in addition to pay in respect the same day. (NOTE: Any other to Paid Holidays that existed in the expiring Collective Agreement will be continued and numbered in sequence as provisions of this Article.)

An employee shall provide immediate supervisor with five (5) working days notice prior to taking the floater holiday. Effective March Easter Monday will be converted to a paid Floating Day. The Library shall close at on Christmas Eve and at on New Year's Eve. Employees shall work one-half day (3 hours) as scheduled at straight time during each of these days, and shall receive a regular full day's pay for each of these days. Starting times shall be varied to provide sufficient coverage for the half day before Christmas and the half day before New Year's. For the purposes of this article, the half day shall be deemed to be the last scheduled day prior to the said holiday. For Part time employees: Thefollowing paid holidays, regardless of when they fall, will be granted withpay to all part time employees:
