Graduate Credit. Occasionally the school district will offer a course that will provide the staff the option of taking the course for graduate credit (at their own cost) or incremental credit (free of charge). The college/university partnering with the school district may require additional work from students seeking graduate credit. If there is any possible question as to whether the contemplated course is related to the field of teaching as required by a contract, a check with the Superintendent is required. All courses must be taken from an accredited college or university. Any question relative to whether an institution is accredited must be verified in advance of taking the course if the staff member is seeking tuition reimbursement and/or credit.

(2) Must be submitted with supporting documents explaining the numeration system when proof of graduate credit is not defined on the transcript.
(3) Educators whose assignments require specialist certification necessitating a master’s degree of at least fifty-three (53) semester or eighty (80) quarter credits beyond a bachelor’s degree are eligible for one additional salary level on the Educator Salary Schedule. Educators requesting the additional level must provide written documentation verifying that their master’s degree program required at least fifty-three (53) semester or eighty (80) quarter hours beyond a bachelor’s degree for Utah certification.
(4) Educators hired into a position requiring an educator’s license for which a master’s degree is necessary to apply for licensure, and are hired prior to receiving their original educator’s license, may submit earned graduate credits leading to their original educator’s license for salary level change credit. This provision applies to positions compensated on the Educator Salary Schedule only.

(5) Educators hired into a position requiring an educator’s license for which a master’s degree is necessary to apply for licensure, and are hired prior to receiving their original educator’s license, may submit earned graduate credits leading to their original educator’s license for salary level change credit. This provision applies to positions compensated on the Educator Salary Schedule only.
Graduate Credit. The policy of the Board of Education is to pay an amount not to exceed the lesser of the amount as provided on the schedule presented in Appendix B-2 or the actual credit hour cost per semester of credit of which at least a “B” grade is earned starting with the beginning of the school term, school term defined as the period beginning on the date teachers report for the school year, and ending at the close of business the day prior to the subsequent reporting date for teachers. This applies to all teachers taking summer school courses. In order to be eligible for credit and payment under this provision, the teacher must have received prior approval from the Superintendent in accordance with the guidelines of Section 12 of this Article. However, an applicant will not be eligible for reimbursement if he/she received a grant or cash award from an agency or foundation that pays a majority of his/her expenses. The following additional conditions must be met for reimbursement for courses taken during the school year.
1. The teacher must have completed two (2) years as a full time employee of the District.
2. S/he must have the recommendation of his/her Department Chairman and Principal.
3. Reimbursement will be as follows: Degree programs in Curriculum and Instruction, Content Area, Technology in Teaching, and coaching/sport psychology or directly related to School Achievement goals will be accepted. Educational Leadership Degrees will be accepted for reimbursement but limited to 12 hours a year per teacher. For non-degree course: a limit of 1 class or 4 graduate hours per semester during the school year will be accepted but must be related to District and/or school achievement goal to be approved for reimbursement. If the staff member leaves the district for another teaching (or equivalent) job within three years of receiving the reimbursement, the staff member agrees to repay a proration to the district the amount of money received for course reimbursement. The proration will be based on the following: 1 year since last tuition reimbursement 100% repayment of total reimbursement 2 years since last tuition reimbursement 70% of total reimbursement 3 years since last tuition reimbursement 30% repayment of total reimbursement This amount will be deducted from your last paycheck(s) or another arrangement will be made if all checks have already been received (see MOU). Graduate Credit. All courses used for advancement on the salary matrix must be applicable to NSSEO employment. Approval for courses of study leading to general supervisory or general administration, psychological or social work or additional special education endorsements shall be subject to the Superintendent’s discretion. Undergraduate courses may be approved for credit advancement on the salary matrix when such courses are specifically applicable to the employee's current assignment. The Superintendent/designee should be contacted regarding approval of the applicability of such coursework. The Superintendent's decision on the acceptability of proposed undergraduate credit shall be final. The following guidelines for Continuing Education shall be used to determine graduate credit for salary matrix advancement.
1. To be eligible, the seminar or workshop must meet on non-school time and must not be funded with NSSEO travel or grant money.
2. The time spent in the seminar or workshop must have appropriate documentation.
3. Evidence of completion and the amount of instructional time must be submitted by the staff member requesting credit on the Verification of Continuing Education form.
4. A total of fourteen (14) instructional hours in documented continuing education will constitute one (1) semester hour to be applied toward advancement on the salary matrix.
5. The Superintendent's decision on the acceptability of proposed seminars/ workshops and the validity of documentation shall be final.
Graduate Credit. There shall be awarded to each teacher credit for all graduate hours taken on the salary schedule, regardless of sequence. No graduate hour(s) can be counted both as part of and in addition to the master’s degree.
Graduate Credit. Reimbursement The Board will pay one hundred fifty dollars ($150) per hour for classes taken after eighteen (18) hours beyond the B.A. or continuing certificate, whichever comes first. These classes must be approved in advance by the Superintendent and must apply to the teacher's present or anticipated future teaching/administrative assignment. Teachers must receive a minimum grade of "B" to receive reimbursement. The maximum Board contribution (total staff pool) shall be 16.5% of the base rate of pay on the BA (step 1) pay track of schedule A. All requests for reimbursement of tuition, with proof of successful passing of the class, shall be made in writing to the Superintendent and be submitted not later than one week (five (5) working days) prior to the final pay date in June. A tally will be provided, on request, of the total credit hours currently approved for the fiscal year. The payment shall be made to all qualifying requests with the last regular pay of the fiscal year in June. If requests exceed the above specified amount allotted by contract the total amount shall be prorated on a credit hour basis by dividing the total hours of credit payment requested into the specified dollar amount allotted by contract and paying that amount per credit hour to all approved requests. A six (6) semester hour limit per year per applicant will exist. Any unused graduate credit subsidy mentioned above will be used on a pro-rata basis to help defray tuition costs of teachers who have less than eighteen (18) semester hours of graduate credit. Teachers must receive a minimum grade of "B" to receive reimbursement. All requests for reimbursement of tuition, with proof of successful passing of class, shall be made in writing to the Superintendent and be submitted not later than one week (five (5) working days) prior to the final pay date in June. The one hundred dollars ($150) per semester hour limit will apply for these semester hours. A six (6) semester hour limit per year per applicant will exist. Unused funds may be used to cover hours in excess of six (6) after the above paragraphs have been implemented. Finally, it is the intent of the Board to provide these funds to assist in paying for approved graduate work and if any portion of the pool remains after the foregoing has been implemented, it shall be distributed equally to participants on a per semester hour basis. Graduate Credit. Hours or approved graduate credit earned by enrollment at colleges and universities accredited by the North Central Association or its equivalent. A grade of “B” or better must be obtained for academic credit.
Graduate Credit. The employer shall pay a reimbursement of four hundred ($400) dollars per credit hour of approved educationally related graduate or undergraduate study from an accredited university. Courses must be approved by the superintendent before first attendance and reimbursement will follow receipt of transcripts.
Graduate Credit. The Board will provide tuition reimbursement grants for full time teachers for the purpose of tuition reimbursement in the amount of the actual cost of the course taken, and provided that the maximum amount the Board will reimburse will be $1650* per contract year. The Board will provide a percentage of the maximum tuition reimbursement for part-time teachers based on full-time employment equivalency. Tuition grants shall not be made in addition to other supplemental payments for the same course work. Approval shall be granted for graduate courses in the teacher’s instructional area, workshops to maintain licensure, or pursuant to a master’s or doctorate degree program previously approved. Staff at the BA+36 or MA+36 levels are encouraged to locate relevant coursework which can be taken as a workshop for Professional Development credit.
