Leave of Absence - Personal. Subject to staffing requirements and following six (6) months of employment, the employer may grant an employee a leave of absence without pay, not to exceed three (3) calendar months duration. Employees will be automatically terminated if they accept other employment during this leave. Employees will maintain and accumulate seniority during leave.
Leave of Absence - Personal. 11.02.01 When the requirements of the Company permit, an employee, upon written request, may be granted a voluntary leave of absence without pay.
11.02.02 A personal leave of absence will fall into one of the following categories: Short-term - from thirty (30) to ninety (90) calendar days. Long-term - over ninety (90) calendar days.
11.02.03 Employees will make their requests, in writing, to their immediate supervisor at least fourteen (14) calendar days in advance of the commencement date of the requested leave.
11.02.04 Requests will be approved in order of receipt among those on hand at the time of granting. Approval shall be in writing stating the date the leave is to commence and terminate.
11.02.05 An employee's Company Service shall be retained but shall not accrue during any absence over thirty (30) calendar days and his service date shall be adjusted at the expiration of his leave.
11.02.06 An employee shall retain and accrue seniority while on a short-term leave of absence. An employee shall retain but not accrue seniority while on a long- term leave of absence.
11.02.07 Copies of all correspondence relating to Article 11.02 will be forwarded to the District Chair of the Union.
11.02.08 Leaves of absence may be cancelled upon thirty (30) days notice.
11.02.09 If the employee wishes to return to work prior to the approved termination of the leave, the employee shall make the request to his immediate supervisor. Leave of Absence - Personal. 15.01.01 The Company may grant a leave of absence without pay to an employee for legitimate personal reasons and shall give serious consideration to emergency requests where proof of the emergency is provided by the employee. Non-emergency leave requests shall be made in writing at least 2 weeks prior to the start of such leave and the reason for the requested leave provided as well. An employee who is absent with written permission shall not be considered to be laid off; seniority shall continue to accrue for one (1) year and all accrued seniority shall be retained.
Leave of Absence - Personal. 12.01 The Executive Director, or his/her designate, may grant or refuse a request for a leave of absence for personal reasons.
12.02 A request for a leave of absence shall be made at least one (1) month in advance in writing, absent emergency circumstances. The request shall indicate the reason for the leave, the date of departure and specify the date of return. If granted, the employee shall be advised in writing with a copy to the Union.
12.03 Employees, in emergency circumstances, as defined in Section 50 of the Employment Standards Xxx 0000, S.O. 2001, shall be entitled to an emergency leave of absence for up to ten (10) days each year in accordance with the Act. The Employer may require an employee who takes emergency leave under the Act to provide evidence reasonable in the circumstances that the employee is entitled to the leave.
12.04 Employees who are on leave of absence will not engage in gainful employment on such leave. If an employee does engage in gainful employment while on such leave, he/she will be deemed to have quit and will forfeit all seniority rights and privileges contained in this Agreement unless otherwise agreed, in writing, by the employee and the Employer.
12.05 An employee who has been granted a leave of absence of any kind, and who overstays his/her leave, unless he/she obtains written permission where practicable, shall be considered to have terminated his/her employment without notice.
Leave of Absence - Personal. Leave of Absence will be considered by the Manager on an individual basis. Staffing requirements and workload will be taken into consideration by management when considering Leave of Absence requests.

Leave of Absence - Personal. Employees, other than short term or temporary employees, who have been employed by the District for two or more consecutive fiscal years may be granted unpaid leave of up to twenty-six (26) weeks for documented medical or other disability reasons involving the employee or immediate family members of the employee. Requests for leave shall be submitted to the Superintendent, or designee, at least 30 calendar days before the leave is to commence and must be approved by the Board of Education in advance. Requests for leave under this provision shall be submitted with a physician’s written statement setting forth the basis for the requested leave. During the unpaid leave, the employee may continue existing District group health insurance coverage at the District’s expense as provided in Paragraph 12.1 of this Agreement.
