Paid public holidays. (a) In addition to the paid public holidays normally falling within the period of annual leave, i.e., Christmas Day, Day of Goodwill and New Year's Day, each employee shall be entitled to and be granted leave on full pay on Human Rights Day, Good Friday, Family Day, Freedom Day, Workers' Day, Youth Day, National Women's Day, Heritage Day and Day of Reconciliation subject to the provisions of clause 11 (4).
(b) Where an employee's employment terminates immediately before any of the paid public holidays referred to in subclause (2) (a), he shall be entitled to payment for such public holidays, provided they fall within an extended period calculated as follows: One working day in respect of each completed month of employment (calculated from the day on which the employee last became entitled to leave or from date of engagement, whichever is the shorter period) shall be added to the date on which the employee's employment terminates, and if any paid public holiday falls within such added period it shall be paid for: Provided that-
(i) where the employment of an employee is terminated by his employer at any time during December of any year for reasons other than dismissal without notice for any good cause recognised by law as sufficient, as referred to in clause 18 (1) (a), such employee shall be paid in accordance with the rate determined in clause 11 (4) in respect of each of the public holidays referred to in subclause (1) (a) which fall after the date of termination of employment;
(ii) where an employee gives notice to his employer of his intention to terminate employment at any time during December of any year, such employee shall not be entitled to payment in respect of the paid public holidays referred to in subclause (1) (a) unless such paid public holidays fall within an extended period calculated in the manner set out herein.
(c) Whenever an employee works on New year's Day, Human Rights Day, Good Friday, Family Day, Freedom Day, Workers' Day, Youth Day, National Women's Day, Heritage Day, Day of Reconciliation, Christmas Day or Day of Goodwill, his employer shall pay him not less than his ordinary hourly wage in respect of the total period worked on such day, or an amount equal to at least the wage payable to the employee in respect of the time (excluding overtime) ordinarily worked by the employee on that day of the week, whichever amount is the greater, in addition to the remuneration to which he would have been entitled had he not so worked.

Paid public holidays. 9.01 Eleven (11) paid Public Holidays will be recognized as follows: New Year’s Day Family Day Good Friday Victoria Day Canada Day Saskatchewan Day Labour Day Thanksgiving Day Remembrance Day Christmas Day Boxing Day for which there shall be no deduction in pay.
9.02 Any other day or part of a day proclaimed as a holiday by Dominion, Provincial or Civic Government and observed by the majority of the wholesale food trade will also be considered a holiday for which there shall be no deduction in pay.
9.03 If a paid public holiday falls on a day other than a regular working day, the Employer will alternate time off with pay in lieu of the holidays during the week in which the holiday falls or the week following.
9.04 In the event of an employee being required to work on a paid public holiday, he/she shall be paid, in addition to his/her regular pay, double his/her regular rate of pay for all hours worked.
9.05 When a paid public holiday falls in an employee’s regularly scheduled workweek, the workweek shall be reduced by eight (8) hours or, in the event of two (2) holidays in an employee’s regularly scheduled workweek, by sixteen (16) hours and no employee shall suffer a reduction in take-home pay. Employees working in excess of the reduced hours of work for that week shall be paid time and one-half (1 ½) for all such hours worked in excess of the reduced hours.
9.06 Shift premiums and freezer premium will be included for the purpose of paid public holiday pay for those employees regularly receiving such premium. Freezer premium will be paid for all full hours during a pay period spent performing freezer work.
9.07 Part-time employees will be eligible for paid public holiday pay in accordance with the Saskatchewan Employment Act.

If a public holiday falls on a Sunday, employees can take the following Monday off. Time off for public holidays does not interrupt the length of service (seniority) or reduce paid annual leave. Employers must pay employees their normal wages for public holidays. Employers who run businesses that cannot stop operating on public holidays may ask employees to work on these days. This work must be voluntary. An employer must pay employees their regular wage plus 100% for working on a public holiday. This means that they get one extra day’s pay on top of their normal pay. Xxxxxx works at a garment factory earning $7 per day. It paid his regular wage for the public holiday ($7 for the is peak season and his employer has asked him to work day). Paid public holidays. Every employee shall be entitled to all gazetted public holidays with full pay.

22.01 The following Holiday Pay provisions apply to all employees.
22.02 If another provincial or municipal holiday is proclaimed during the term of this Agreement, such additional proclaimed holiday will be added to those enumerated holidays in 22.01.
(a) Holiday Qualifying (Full-time)
Paid public holidays. The following Paid Holidays, regardless of when they fall, will be granted with pay to all employees in accordance with the Employment Standards Act: New Year's Day Family Day Good Friday Easter Monday Victoria Day Canada Day Civic Holiday Labour Day Thanksgiving Day Christmas Day Boxing Day and any other day proclaimed as a holiday by the Municipal Government. The Employer will pay wages for a seven (7) hour day to anyone who works on December 24 or December 31, when such days are within the normal work week. In lieu of Remembrance Day a Floating Holiday shall be granted. The following qualifications apply to the Floating Holiday:
1) It must be taken during the calendar year.
2) Failure to take the Floating Holiday during the calendar year forfeits all entitlement to the holiday
3) It will be scheduled on a first request basis.
4) An employee must have sixty (60) days continuous service with the Employer to qualify for the Floating Holiday. Payment for such holidays shall be based on the employee's regular hourly rate multiplied by the number of hours she would normally have worked on such day.
5) The Floating Holiday shall not be classed as a Paid Holiday for premium rates of pay.
Paid public holidays. Employees shall be granted the following days as public holidays with pay:
a) Any day proclaimed as a State-wide public holiday.

b. Workers will be paid their normal days pay for the days shown above, if they have worked the scheduled work day immediately before and the scheduled work day immediately after the public holiday and had the holiday not occurred would have worked 40 hours. A reasonable excuse for the workers’ absence will receive consideration for the purpose of payment.
