Relief Operators. For relief operation, Relief Operators will normally receive the appropriate shift premium in addition to their regular rate. For relief operation, Relief Operators will be paid the appropriate overtime rate in lieu of shift premium only in the following situations: a) Work exceeding 8 hours in any day. b) Work exceeding 40 hours in any week. c) A relief operator who has not received at least 24 hours notice of a change in schedule, Monday to Friday, shall be paid at the applicable overtime rate for all such hours worked, with a minimum of one (1) hour guaranteed. d) A relief operator who has not been notified by the end of the second last scheduled shift prior to a company holiday or weekend, that employee will be required to work on the holiday or weekend, shall be paid at the applicable overtime rate for all such hours worked. e) Relief Operators will be provided a shift schedule of at least 8 weeks duration. This will normally require operators to arrange vacation and company holidays at least 8 weeks in advance. However, in extenuating circumstances, vacation and/or company holidays may be arranged on shorter notice.

Relief Operators. Replacement of Operators 1. Relief operators may be assigned to work an operator's schedule when management knows 24 hours in advance of an operator's time off. The relief operator(s) will be selected first from qualified water division operator maintenance workers on the basis of seniority and then from water division maintenance worker laborers with at least one water license on the basis of seniority, and if no one desires the position, the least senior qualified operator/maintenance person in the division will be assigned the position of relief operator(s). The relief operator(s) will be paid "the relief operator's" wages as shown in the attached Appendices when working as a relief operator(s) and their regular wages when not working as relief operator(s). The relief operator position(s) will be posted for change every twelve (12) months. If more than one (1) relief operator is desig- nated, the assignment shall rotate after each relief operator has fulfilled five (5) relief shifts. Any employee assigned relief operator responsibilities will be required to become certified in the lab and, once certified, will be required to maintain said certification until the next general lab recertification; all lab-certified employees will be required to perform required monthly lab tests in order to maintain certification. The employer will work with the employee to ensure that the employee’s schedule will enable the employee to meet that requirement. 2. Plant Operators shall not be called in to work on maintenance call-ins unless needed personnel cannot be obtained by calling all maintenance personnel in their respective division, or in the case of an emergency. 3. Maintenance personnel shall not be called in to work on operator call-ins unless needed personnel cannot be obtained by calling all operator personnel in their respective division, or in the case of an emergency. 4. Meter Reader personnel will be eligible for overtime within the Water Division provided they are qualified to perform the work.
Relief Operators. 2 Relief operators will be the same as the other operators and fall under 3 these understandings for purposes of hours of work, overtime, and 4 inconvenience pay. Relief operators have the option to 7 work later in the workweek after working a weekend day to earn a 8 maximum of 8 hours overtime per pay week. 9 10 ARTICLE 13 11 RELIEF WORK PAY 12 13 Operators designated as relief personnel shall be required to be 14 available upon request for both scheduled and unscheduled relief of 15 regularly assigned operators. If the Relief Operator is required to work 16 as an Operator on a weekend, when he/she was not scheduled to work, 17 he/she may work the remainder of his/her regular scheduled work- 18 week or he/she may, with the permission of the supervisor, request 19 to take compensatory time within the same work week as defined in 20 Article XII. If a relief operator has received less than 48 hours’ notice, 21 other than in an emergency situation, he/she has the option of overtime 22 or compensatory time within the same work-week. Relief Operators. If a paid holiday falls during a shift operator’s vacation, the employee shall be entitled to eight (8) hours pay or eight (8) hours off at a time mutually agreeable to the Department Head and the employee.

Relief Operators who work the Statutory or Paid Holidays listed in the collective agreement will receive one and one-half times the regular rate of pay. In return, the Corporation agrees to reclassify all current Extra Spare Operators to Reg Operators. Relief Operators. 1. Relief Operators shall be assigned regularly to the day shift. 2. When assigned to the regularly day shift, Relief Operators shall perform duties as assigned by the Authority. When assigned to relieve Shift Operators, Relief Operators shall perform that work. 3. A Relief Operator assigned to relieve Shift Operators shall work the schedule of the Shift Operator he is relieving until that Shift Operator returns to work. 4. When a Relief Operator is transferred from or to his regular day shift due to a relief assignment, such transfer shall be considered a regular rotation of shift covered by paragraph 5. If a Relief Operator works more than ten (10) consecutive work days when rotating to or from relief, he shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) times his regular straight time hourly rate of pay.
