Security Department. (a) Each of the parties hereto recognizes that full-time employees who are eligible to be placed upon the Seniority List are entitled to an equitable measure of security based upon length of service. (b) The Seniority List shall contain the names of all full-time employees eligible to be placed therein and shall determine the seniority of employees as hereinafter provided. Upon consent of both parties hereto, the Seniority List may be amended from time to time. (c) A full-time employee will be on probation until he has completed sixty (60) working days in a twelve (12) month period. In the event that an employee works two (2) shifts in the same day, the employee shall be credited with two (2) working days towards the completion of his seniority. Upon completion of such probationary period, the employee's name shall be placed on the Seniority List and credited with sixty (60) days seniority. During the probationary period, the employee shall be entitled to all rights and benefits of this Agreement except as otherwise provided. (d) The Employer agrees to post the full-time Seniority List no later than April and October of each year, and a copy shall also be forwarded to the Union. After such posting, the Seniority List shall become final with respect to the employees designated therein except as to any employee who disputes the accuracy of his seniority date within ten (10) days following such posting. (e) For the purposes of part-time employees, the employees shall not accumulate seniority nor shall the employer recognize seniority, nor shall part-time employees have any entitlement to health benefits or pension. (f) When part-timers transfer to a full-time position, their seniority date will be the first date worked in the full-time position.

Security Department. (a) The Employer will provide, clean and maintain uniforms and rain gear which the Employer requires to be worn. Such uniforms will be treated with reasonable care by the employees. (b) The uniform issue shall be sufficient for each full-time security guard to have a minimum of: five (5) shirts, two (2) pairs of trousers, appropriate jacket and overcoat, winter hat and gloves (for those regularly employed outside). The issue of these items will be renewed as needed. (c) An annual footwear allowance of eighty dollars ($80.00) will be paid upon proof of purchase and/or replacement of footwear required to be worn by the Employer. (d) The uniform issue for each part-time security guard will be: two (2) shirts, one (1) pair of trousers, and a jacket or sweater if needed. All uniforms are to be returned at the end of the season.

Security Department. (a) Pay for sick leave is for the sole and only purpose of protecting full-time employees against loss of income when they are legitimately ill. (b) Full-time seniority List employees shall be credited with three quarters (¾) day per month of sick credits for each month. Probationary employees shall, upon completion of the probationary period, be credited with one (1) day's sick credit. Effective May 1, 1999 sick leave credits accrue on the basis of time worked. (c) Accumulated sick leave credits may be utilized from day one of the accident or illness until the number of days accumulated have been exhausted. The Employer will allow an employee to utilize his sick leave credits to top-up the weekly indemnity payments from the insurer. (d) Upon request, employees will receive notification of their accumulated sick days. There will be no carry-over of sick day credits from year to year. At each year end or at seasonal layoff, whichever occurs first, there will be a pay out at the rate of fifty (50) per cent for every unused sick day credit accrued in that calendar year. Such payments will be included on the last paycheque prior to layoff. (e) A medical certificate verifying the illness may be requested by the Employer. (f) Existing accrued sick day credits, up to and including April 30, 1999, which will not be eligible for payout, may be utilized for medically verifiable non- occupational illness or long-term disability defined as a disability in excess of one (1) week. These accrued sick day credits may be used only as described in this clause of Article 43, and may be carried over until used.
Security Department. Whenever a security guard is assigned additional responsibilities to direct, or oversee the work of other security guards, he shall be paid a premium allowance of one dollar ($1.00) per hour in addition to his regular hourly rate.
Security Department. (a) The following days shall be recognized as statutory holidays with pay for all full- time employees: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Dominion Day, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. (b) Except as otherwise provided in this Article, each employee shall receive a paid holiday on the days listed in Article 46 (a). (c) Paragraph 46 (b) does not apply to an employee who: (i) is employed for less than three (3) months; (ii) has not earned wages on at least twelve (12) days during the four (4) work weeks immediately preceding a public holiday; (iii) fails to work his scheduled regular day of work preceding or his scheduled regular day of work following a public holiday; (iv) is employed under an arrangement whereby he may elect to work or not when requested so to do; or (v) has agreed to work on a public holiday and who, without reasonable cause, fails to report for and perform the work. (d) An employee who is required to work on any of the above named holidays shall be paid time and one-half (1½) his regular rate of pay for all hours worked on such holiday. In addition, subject to Article 46(c), he shall receive his regular day's pay or the statutory holiday. (e) Where a public holiday falls on an employee's day off, subject to Article 46(c), the employee shall receive his regular day's pay for the statutory holiday. (f) If a shift commences on or before the statutory holiday, such shift will not be considered as a shift scheduled for the statutory holiday unless the majority of the hours scheduled on such shift occur on the statutory holiday. (g) Part-time employees shall be entitled to statutory holidays in accordance with the Employment Standards Act.
Security Department. Each full-time Supervising Security Guard covered by this Agreement shall enjoy as holidays January 1st, July 4th and December 25th of each year. If the Board of Chosen Freeholders designates a different date for the County celebration of these three holidays, said designation shall not apply to employees in the Security Department. Holiday assignment will be done on a rotating seniority basis. If no member accepts the assignment, the employee with the least seniority will be assigned to work the holiday.

Security Department. Annually, in the month of January, shifts will be posted and bid on by seniority. Employees of the Security Department will have at least ten (10) working days notice prior to any scheduled change in hours, except in the case of an emergency. They shall be reissued annually as requested by the employee. All uniforms are the property of Kawartha Downs Limited and uniforms must be returned when employee is no longer employed.
Security Department. Should the County agree to allow supplemental benefits (i.e. employees 8 permitted to receive PFML payments concurrent with County paid leave to receive full wage 9 replacement) for any other non-interest arbitration eligible bargaining unit, this contract will be 10 reopened to bargain over this article.
