Family and Community Service Leave. Employees covered by this Agreement will be entitled to Family and Community Service Leave in accordance with Clause 71 of the Crown Employees (Public Service Conditions of Employment) Reviewed Award 2009.

Family and Community Service Leave. 19.5.1 The Institute Director or nominee may grant family and community service leave for the following purposes: (a) for reasons related to the family responsibilities of the TAFE Manager; or (b) for reasons related to the performance of community service by the TAFE Manager; or (c) for reasons of pressing necessity. 19.5.2.1 Quantum - The amount of family and community service leave available to a TAFE Manager shall be either: (a) 2.5 days during the first year of service and five days in any period of two years after the first year; or (b) after two years of continuous service, one day of Family and Community Service Leave for each completed year of service less the total amount of family and community service leave previously granted to an TAFE Manager; whichever is the greater period. 19.5.2.2 Where such leave is exhausted, sick leave in accordance with subclause 19.6.1 may be used.
Family and Community Service Leave. 29.1 The Director may grant paid family and community service (FACS) leave to an Employee, other than a Casual Employee, for reasons related to: 29.1.1 family responsibilities of the Employee; or 29.1.2 the performance of community service by the Employee; or 29.1.3 personal emergencies 29.2 Quantum - The amount of family and community service leave available to an Employee shall be: 29.2.1 during the first 12 months of service - three working days; 29.2.2 after completion of 12 months service - six working days in any two year period; and 29.2.3 after completion of two years service - nine working days in any three year period. 29.3 Where family and community service leave has been exhausted, additional such leave of up to two days per occasion may be granted in circumstances when a family member (as defined in subclause 30.2) contracts, develops, or sustains an illness or injury that poses a serious threat to his or her life, or dies. 29.4 A Permanent or Temporary employee who is engaged at Xxxxxxxxx College shall have their previous service with the Department or TAFE recognised for the purpose of calculating the family and community service leave entitlement pursuant to subclause 29.1.2. 29.5 FACS leave is provided in addition to the entitlement to Personal/Carers Leave under this Schedule and the TAFE Policy - Special Leave which provides for paid leave for Jury service and for emergency service volunteers subject to the conditions outlined in the policy.
Family and Community Service Leave. 16.1 Staff members may be granted paid family and community service leave for reasons related to their family responsibilities, the performance of a community service, or emergencies. These reasons may include but are not limited to the following: a) the staff member needs to provide care and support to a family member or a relative who is ill; b) the staff member suffers the death of a family member or relative; c) the staff member urgently needs to arrange accommodation or move their furniture and effects; d) the staff member is unable to come to work because of an emergency or natural disaster, including fire, flood, or storm; e) the staff member needs to attend to family responsibilities, such as attending a citizenship ceremony, a parent/teacher conference or a child’s school for other reasons; f) the staff member has prior approval from the Commissioner or delegate to volunteer for a community group providing environmental conservation or natural resource management services. 16.2 The definition of "family" or "relative" in this clause is: a) a spouse of the staff member; or b) a de facto spouse being a person of the opposite sex to the staff member who lives with the staff member as her husband or his wife on a bona fide domestic basis although not legally married to that staff member; or c) a child or an adult child (including an adopted child, a step child, a xxxxxx child or an ex-nuptial child), parent (including a xxxxxx parent and legal guardian), grandparent, grandchild or sibling of the staff member or of spouse or of de facto spouse of the staff member; or d) a same sex partner who lives with the staff member as the de facto partner of that staff member on a bona fide domestic basis; or a relative of the staff member who is a member of the same household, where for the purposes of this definition:

Family and Community Service Leave. ‌ 32.1 The General Secretary will grant to an employee some, or all, of their accrued family and community service leave on full pay, for reasons relating to unplanned and emergency family responsibilities or other emergencies as described in this clause. Non-emergency appointments or duties shall be scheduled or performed outside of normal working hours or through approved use of flexible working arrangements where applicable or other appropriate leave. 32.2 Such unplanned and emergency situations may include, but not be limited to, the following: (a) Emergency accommodation matters up to one day, such as attendance at court as defendant in an eviction action, arranging accommodation, or when required to remove furniture and effects; (b) Emergency or weather conditions; such as when flood, fire, snow or disruption to utility services etc., threatens an employee’s property and/or prevents an employee from reporting for duty; (c) Attending to unplanned or unforeseen family responsibilities, such as attending child's school for an emergency reason or emergency cancellations by child care providers; (d) Attendance at court by an employee to answer a charge for a criminal offence, only if the General Secretary considers the granting of family and community service leave to be appropriate in a particular case. 32.3 Family and community service leave may also be granted for: (a) An absence during normal working hours to attend meetings, conferences or to perform other duties, for employees holding office in Local Government, and whose duties necessitate absence during normal working hours for these purposes, provided that the employee does not hold a position of Mayor of a Municipal Council, President of a Shire Council or Chairperson of a County Council; and (b) Attendance as a competitor in major amateur sport (other than Olympic or Commonwealth Games) for employees who are selected to represent Australia or the State. 32.4 Family and community service leave shall accrue as follows: (a) two and a half days in the employee’s first year of service; (b) two and a half days in the employee’s second year of service; and (c) one day per year thereafter. 32.5 If available family and community service leave is exhausted as a result of natural disasters, the General Secretary shall consider applications for additional family and community service leave, if some other emergency arises. 32.6 If available family and community service leave is exhausted, on the death of a ...

Family and Community Service Leave a. The Chief Executive Officer will grant an employee some, or all of their accrued Family and Community Service Leave on full pay, for unplanned and emergency situations which may include, but is not limited to, the following: i. compassionate grounds such as the illness or death of a family member or a member of the employee's household ii. emergency accommodation matters such as court attendance as a defendant in an eviction action, to arrange accommodation, or when required to remove furniture and effects iii. weather conditions, emergency situations or disruptions to utility services that threaten an employee’s property and/or prevent an employee from attending work iv. unplanned or unforeseen family responsibilities, such as attending a child's school for an emergency or emergency cancellation of childcare services v. where an employee is required to attend court on a criminal charge, the Chief Executive Officer will determine if granting Family and Community Service Leave is appropriate. b. Family and Community Service Leave may also be granted for: i. employees holding office in Local Government to attend meetings or perform duties necessary to their position, provided that the position is not as Mayor of a Municipal Council, President of a Shire Council or Chairperson of a County Council ii. employees who are selected to represent Australia or the State in a major amateur sport competition, other than the Olympic or Commonwealth Games. c. Non-emergency appointments should be managed outside normal working hours, through flexible work arrangements or other appropriate leave.
