HOURS OF WORK AND SHIFTS. The hours of the twenty-four (24) hour day/period shall be 7:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
HOURS OF WORK AND SHIFTS. Section A - Work Week
18.01 The hours of work for full-time employees will be seven and one-half (7 1/2) hours in a day and thirty-seven and one-half (37 1/2) hours in a week. The scheduled work week will be from Monday to Friday inclusive, not to exceed thirty-seven and one-half (37 1/2) hours. However, in order to operate and maintain University facilities on weekends when necessary, the scheduled work week may be varied to include Saturday and Sunday on a five (5) day consecutive work schedule within seven (7) days. Such schedule or schedules shall be on a rotational basis except where classification or staffing requirements prohibit rotation or where employees volunteer for such schedule. In order to rotate shifts to the satisfaction of employees concerned, it is recognized that some swinging of shifts may be necessary. Shifts shall not be split. The hours and days or work of each regular employee working on rotating shifts shall be posted in an appropriate place at least two (2) weeks in advance. Section B - Hours of Work
18.02 Regular hours of work shall not exceed seven and one-half (7-1/2) hours per day including a fifteen (15) minute work break during the first four (4) hours of a shift, and, where the shift extends to seven (7) hours or more, a further fifteen (15) minutes during the next three (3) hours of the shift. The minimum hours of work in a shift for employees (with the exception of student employees who work casual hours as defined in Article 1.05) will be four (4) hours in a day. Shifts shall be scheduled within the periods shown below except as mutually agreed upon: Days: 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. - normally starting at 8:00 a.m. Provided the University's work requirements can be met, and subject to Section C (18.05), the shift for regular day shift employees working Monday to Friday shall be from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Afternoons: 2:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. - normally starting at 4:00 p.m. Nights: 10:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. - normally starting at midnight.
18.03 Employees working more than four (4) hours per day shall be permitted a one-half (1/2) hour period for meals, which time shall not be included in the hours of work.

B. Eight-Nine (8/9) Work Schedule This shift is classified as a “Straight Day Schedule” and all workers are classified as “Straight Day” employees. It is understood that an employee on the eight-nines schedules will be paid in accordance with the shift schedule.
1) Employees scheduled to work eighty (80) hours straight time in a two (2) week period. The first standard week will consist of nine (9) hours per day, Monday through Thursday, and the first four (4) hours of the first Friday at straight time
HOURS OF WORK AND SHIFTS. 100 (Regular Hours) and Article 5.300 (Shifts) of the Agreement shall apply to all work performed in accordance with the U/G Addendum. Notwithstanding the foregoing and/or any/all contrary provisions of the Agreement, all hours on all shifts shall be payable “portal to portal” at the otherwise applicable hourly wage rate (i.e. meal breaks shall be paid).

1. Employees scheduled to work eighty (80) hours straight time in a two (2) week period. The first standard week will consist of nine (9) hours per day, Monday through Thursday, and the first four (4) hours of the first Friday at straight time pay. The second standard week will consist of the second four (4) hours of the first Friday and nine (9) hours per day Monday through Thursday of the second week at straight time pay. The second Friday of the eight-nines standard work period will be an “off” Friday and a day of rest.
2. Summer“Tropical” Eight-Nine (8/9) Work Schedule This shift schedule is established to support safe, efficient and effective operations during the months of June through September due to heat limiting day shift operations. The workweek begins at 8:00 am on Friday. The hours for this shift are as follows: This shift is classified as a “Shift Schedule” and all employees assigned to this schedule are classified as “Shift Workers”.
C. Four Ten Straight Day Schedule 6:00 am to 4:30 pm 30 minute lunch 6:30 am to 5:00 pm 30 minute lunch 7:00 am to 5:30 pm 30 minute lunch 7:30 am to 6:00 pm 30 minute lunch 8:00 am to 6:30 pm 30 minute lunch G. Eight nine (8/9) shift schedule:
HOURS OF WORK AND SHIFTS. 5.01 (a) The standard work week for all Mixer Drivers, employees operating Pumps, Plant Supervisors, Batchmen, Loader Operators, and QC Technicians shall be defined as either:
(i) eight (8) hours worked within eight (8) consecutive hours and shall be worked in five (5) days of the week, Monday to Saturday, or (ii) ten (10) hours worked within ten (10) consecutive hours and shall be worked in four (4) days of the week, Monday to Saturday.
(b) The standard work week for Maintenance employees, the Octa Bloc Coordinator, and labourers shall be defined as either,
(i) eight (8) hours worked within eight and one half (8½) consecutive hours and shall be worked in five (5) days of the week, Monday to Saturday or (ii) ten (10) hours worked within ten and one half (10½) consecutive hours and shall be worked in four (4) days of the week, Monday to Saturday. Should the Employer need to schedule a work shift other than the above it will consult with the Union regarding terms and conditions. For the purpose of the calculation of weekly overtime an employee will be deemed to have worked their full shift if they work greater than 4 hours and are sent home early due to lack of work, inclement weather or plant breakdown.
5.02 When an employee reports for work at the request of the Employer, they shall be paid; when working an eight (8) or ten (10) hour shift:
(a) A minimum of two (2) hours at the appropriate rate of pay for reporting to work or
(b) A minimum of four (4) hours when working either the eight (8) or ten (10) hour shift at the appropriate rate of pay for performing work on any day. Any employee paid the minimum 2 or 4 hour referenced herein shall only receive credit for those hours paid for the purposes of callout as referenced in Article 5.04.
5.03 All employees shall be entitled to two (2) coffee breaks of ten (10) minutes duration for each full shift, as follows; one in the first half of the shift and one in the second half of the shift. Drivers, employees operating pumps and Plant Maintenance personnel shall be required to take their food with them as they may eat a meal at any plant location or at a work site. Due to the nature of the industry and the requirements of the customer, coffee breaks and where appropriate, a meal period, may be broken up in order to provide a quality product.
