Non-Occupational Illness or Injury. (1) Employees hired prior to October 21, 1994 shall be entitled to paid sick days as follows: Length Of Service Number of Days Length Of Service Number of Days Per Yr. (2) Employees hired on or after October 21, 1994 shall be entitled to paid sick days as follows: a. Employees, after thirty (30) days of employment, shall be entitled to paid sick leave earned at the rate of one (1) day for each month of employment, retroactive to date of hire, up to a maximum of twelve (12) days per year. b. Employees, after one (1) or more years of employment with the University shall be entitled to a total of twelve (12) additional days of sick leave as of the beginning of his/her second and each subsequent year of employment, provided that at no time will an Employee be entitled to accumulate more than sixty (60) working days of sick leave during any one year, including the days earned or to be earned in the current sick leave year. (3) To be eligible for benefits, an employee who is absent due to illness or injury must notify his/her supervisor within one (1) hour before the start of his/her regularly scheduled work day, or earlier if deemed necessary by the University for operational reasons, unless proper excuse is presented for the employee's inability to call. The University may require proof of illness hereunder after an absence of three days or where a pattern of abuse may appear to exist. Employees shall be entitled to sick leave pay only when they are necessarily confined to their homes or to a hospital because of illness. (4) If an Employee resigns or is dismissed or laid off and has exceeded his/her allowable sick leave, the excess sick leave shall be deducted from any monies due him/her from the University at the time of resignation, layoff or dismissal. Non-Occupational Illness or Injury. 1. County Medical Leave (Short Term Disability) will be paid as follows: a. All employees who have completed six (6) months of regular employment with the COUNTY will be granted an eighty (80) hour Elimination Period Bank. b. This Elimination Period Bank (EPB) may only be used for the continuous 80-hour elimination period for approved Short Term Disability (STD) leave and once used will not be renewed. c. The EPB may not be donated or sold (converted), even at termination, nor does it accrue regular TM when used. d. First two (2) weeks of STD (one (1) week equals 40 hours for full- time employees) is the Elimination Period and will be charged to the employee’s accrued Leave Banks or may be taken as Unpaid Leave if all other approved Leave Banks have been exhausted. e. Third and fourth weeks continue at one hundred percent (100%) pay; f. Fifth (5th) and sixth (6th) weeks continue at ninety percent (90%) pay; (For full-time employee, this translates to seven hours twelve minutes (7.2) hours/day.) g. Seventh (7th) and eighth (8th) weeks continue at eighty percent (80%) pay; (For full- time employee, this translates to six hours twenty-four minutes (6.4) hours/day.) h. Ninth (9th) and tenth (10th) weeks continue at seventy percent (70%) pay; (For full-time employee, this translates to five hours thirty-six minutes (5.6) hours/day.) i. Remaining time will be paid at sixty-six and two-thirds percent (66-2/3%) to the conclusion of ninety (90) days. (For full-time employee, this translates to five hours eighteen minutes (5.3) hours/day.) 2. Each employee's existing sick leave balance, if less than four hundred (400) hours, as of January 6, 1990, to a maximum of one hundred and fifty (150) hours shall be preserved in a separate bank known as the Extended Illness Bank. If the employee's sick leave balance is four hundred (400) hours or more as of January 6, 1990, two hundred and fifty (250) hours shall be preserved in a separate bank known as the Extended Illness Bank. Extended illness bank hours may be used for the sole purpose of off-setting the use of time management hours to meet the fourteen (14) calendar day elimination period prior to the start of disability leave. After forty (40) consecutive work hours have been charged to the Time Management balance, the remaining hours of the elimination period shall be charged to any remaining balance in the employee's extended illness bank until the employee has exhausted their extended illness bank hours. 3. Non-Occupational Illness or Injury. Upon request from an employee who is unable to perform the employee's regularly assigned duties due to a non occupational illness or injury, the installation head shall attempt, to the extent practical, to place the employee in a light duty assignment consistent with the employee’s medical limitations. It is incumbent upon the employee making such a request to provide medical evidence of the extent of disability, so that the installation head may be able to assign the employee appropriate
Non-Occupational Illness or Injury. Upon request from an employee who is unable to perform the employee’s regularly assigned duties due to a nonoccupational illness or injury, the installation head shall attempt, to the extent practical, to place the employee in a light duty assignment consistent with the employee’s medical limitations. It is incumbent upon the employee making such a request to provide medical evidence of the extent of disability, so that the installation head may be able to assign the employee appropriate work. An installation head may require the employee to supply additional medical information or submit to a medical examination by a physician designated by the installation head. Light duty assignments shall be within the bargaining unit, to the extent that there is bargaining unit work available within the employee’s work limitations, and, if such work is not available, other appropriate and available work, if any, may be assigned.
Non-Occupational Illness or Injury. Employees shall be entitled to authorized leave and to salary continuation for absences due to non-occupational illness or injury in accordance with the terms of this Article provided that the employee satisfies CANADA of his or her inability to work in such manner and at such time as may be determined by CANADA. In the event that an employee is absent from work under this Article, salary continuation will be provided but not to exceed days for any period of continuous absence. Absence is considered to be continuous if it is due to a recurrence of the same or related illness within any thirty (30) day period. Income security benefits will be as follows: Salary continuation will be at percent of the employee’s normal salary for up to thirteen (13) weeks in any twelve (12) month period and at seventy (70) percent of the employee’s normal salary thereafter; For every day of absence, the level of salary (100% versus 70%) is determined based on the number of absences resulting from non- occupational illness or injury originating in the sliding month period immediately preceding and including that date of absence. an employee benefit from more than thirteen (13) weeks of percent salary continuation in aggregate in any month period. In the event that the employee has benefited from percent salary continuation within the past months, salary continuation will be reduced to percent of the employee’s normal salary during this first thirteen (13) week period so that the maximum of thirteen (13) weeks at percent in any month period is not exceeded; CANADA; If the period of continuous absence due to illness exceeds twenty-six (26) weeks, the employee will be eligible to apply for long-term disability benefits under the CANADA long-term disability program. No employee in the bargaining unit shall accumulate sick leave credits and any employee who becomes a member of the bargaining unit and who has an existing sick leave bank will have that sick leave bank frozen. Employees who are absent from work due to a non-operational illness or injury and who have accumulated sick leave credits frozen pursuant to Article shall:
Non-Occupational Illness or Injury. Upon release to the Town of the medical reports necessary to make a determination of ability to perform temporary modified work, a Lieutenant on NOSL may request a temporary modified work assignment. If the Lieutenant's physician determines that the Lieutenant is eligible for TMWP, the Police Chief may assign that Lieutenant to a temporary modified work program. The Town shall have the right to require that the Lieutenant be examined by a Town-designated physician in order to confirm the Lieutenant's ability to return to temporary modified work.
