POSTING AND FILLING POSITIONS. 15.2.1 When a new position is established or the vacating of an existing position occurs in the classified unit, it will be posted on the District website, at each District job site and a copy of this posting shall be given to the Union. Such positions shall be posted at all work locations for at least five (5) working days prior to applicant interviews or any action being taken to consider any applicant for the position. (1995-96, 2015-16) Job postings at all sites shall be posted on designated unit bulletin boards. Further, copies of all job postings shall be placed in a site binder for review by unit members. The notice of openings will include the job title and position; tracking information to identify the position; (a unique static number, entered into the posting log and not shared with any other posting); description of duties; minimum qualifications required for the position; the assigned job site; the assigned work shift, hours, weeks and months per year; salary range; deadline to apply, and projected starting date. (2012-13) In addition, the District will create a modified list of vacancies by classification that can be posted on the Intranet, taking into account the high volume of vacancies and the District’s workforce. 15.2.2 The District will fill vacant positions as soon as feasible, normally within fifteen (15) working days after the close of posting or re-posting, using the following procedures: (1995-96, 2010-11)
a. screen applicants for evaluations, qualifications, and seniority b. conduct and/or arrange interviews, administer appropriate tests, and any other screening procedures

Thereafter a maximum of five business days will be allowed to develop the list of applicants beginning not later than the sixth business day after the posting is taken down Metro will begin contacting applicants to offer the position. Each applicant will have 24 hours after notification or attempted notification to accept the position. Failure to respond within the 24-hour period will be considered a decline. Metro will place the successful applicant in the new position not later than 30 calendar days after acceptance by the applicant. If applicant cannot be reached by company, applicants Union Xxxxxxx or Executive Board Member will be notified and the 24-hour clock will start.

If the position is not filled from within the branch, it shall be posted electronically in a manner available to all employees in the bargaining unit for five (5) working days. POSTING AND FILLING POSITIONS. Vacancies shall be posted both electronically internally and externally simultaneously. Copies of such posting shall be forwarded to the union once a week. In filling any vacancy the Employer may select the best qualified internal or external candidate. Candidates shall be considered based on the applicable criteria; such as education, experience, work record, disciplinary record, Xxxxxx Permanente experience, specialty, special skills, references, diversity, and board certification. The bargaining unit shall have the right to designate one staff member for the interview team. Any candidate selected for an interview must be interviewed by the Joint Interview Panel. The manager or her/his designee may select at least one staff member to be involved in the interview process. The interview selection process shall not be unduly delayed. Final candidate selection decision lies solely with the manager or her/his designee.
POSTING AND FILLING POSITIONS a. All permanent employees covered by this agreement shall have the right to bid on a building position within his/her classification of his/her choice.
b. The District shall reimburse employees in this bargaining unit for upgrade of their boiler licensure. The District shall also reimburse employees of this bargaining unit, when applicable, for the initial licensure and renewal of Swimming Pools and HAACP (Nutrition Center) licensure. All new employees must attend janitor-engineering training school the first four (4) years of employment. After completion of the first four-year program, every engineer shall complete twelve (12) hours of in service training in each school year. Each promotion will involve an additional twenty-four (24) hours of in service training. If these twenty-four (24) hours are not accumulated prior to a promotion they must be completed within one (1) year after the promotion. Each employee must attend and complete training school classes to receive credit. Ongoing training classes including scheduled make-up classes will afford all employees the opportunity to attend training and make-up any missed classes due to exigent circumstances, (i.e. illness, death in the family, etc.) The District and Union may meet and confer annually regarding the training calendar.
c. The bidding system shall be a seniority system, and pertain to each classification and category. The employee within classification with the highest seniority from the list of eligible bidders will be offered the lateral transfer. If he/she declines the offer for lateral movement, the employee with the next highest seniority will be offered the lateral transfer until the position is filled. For the purpose of this section, movement from a Janitor Engineer to a Custodian classification or vice versa shall be considered a lateral transfer and employees in these classifications who laterally move will not change their designated classification or pay status because of the move.
d. There shall be no minimum postings per year; positions will now be posted as vacancies occur. Bids may not be withdrawn after the closing date of the posting. Vacancies will be posted for at least two weeks. Any successful bidders shall be entitled to two (2) moves per year.

POSTING AND FILLING POSITIONS. A. Vacancies in regularly assigned positions and newly created positions that will be of more than thirty (30) days duration shall be posted for five (5) working days in all school buildings within ten (10) working days of such vacancies occurring, or new positions being established. The School Committee and its designee agree to notify the Union of any changes made in the qualification measurements before a vacancy notification incorporating such changes is posted.
B. Employees desiring such positions shall, within five (5) working days after the bulletin is posted, apply in writing to the Director of Buildings and Grounds. Employees will not be permitted to make more than one (1) lateral move within a six (6) month period unless agreed to by the Director of Buildings and Grounds and the Union.
C. Recommendations for appointment to such positions shall be submitted by the Director of Buildings and Grounds, and to the Superintendent of Schools for approval. This shall be done as soon as possible after the expiration of any necessary posting. Appointment shall be awarded within five (5) days of the approval by the Superintendent of Schools. The appointment may have a start date of (TBA) if such vacancy was posted in advance to allow for all subsequent vacancies that occur from the initial vacancy to be determined. This provision allows for adequate time to train staff in new appointment(s) that can occur due to a single initial vacancy. The name of the appointee shall be posted to the group. Copies of this posting shall be furnished to the President of the Local Union.
D. Appointments to such positions shall be made at the sole discretion of the Director of Buildings and Grounds who may consider such criteria as qualifications, abilities, special skills and/or licenses, work history, attendance, and/or discipline. Where all factors are equal between two or more candidates, the employer may consider seniority. The determination of what constitutes unsatisfactory work performance is reserved to the discretion of the Superintendent of Schools. That discretion shall not be unreasonably exercised. The following will be a guideline in the selection of appointees for Supervising and Senior Custodian positions in descending order:

If an employee has exhausted their accrued sick, personal, and/or vacation days, and have not been approved for any other leave of absence, they are expected to report to work.
