Stewards and Grievance Committee. 5.01 The Company recognizes the right of the Union to appoint or otherwise select eight (8) stewards. 5.02 The Company further recognizes a Union Grievance Committee which shall be composed of two (2) of the stewards selected by the Union, and the Plant Chairperson and Recording Secretary. One (1) xxxxxxx should, if possible, be from the department in which the particular grievor works. If not possible, the appropriate shop xxxxxxx 5.03 The Union will inform the Company in writing of the names of the stewards and of any subsequent change in the names of the stewards. The Company shall not be asked to recognize any xxxxxxx until such notification from the Union has been received. (a) The privileges of stewards and members of the Grievance Committee to leave their work without loss of basic pay for the purpose of processing grievances is granted subject to the following conditions: (1) The processing of grievances must be between the Union and the Management. An employee having a grievance may discuss it with his xxxxxxx or a member of the Grievance Committee during working hours upon the approval of the Department Managers or Supervisors involved. Such approval shall not be unreasonably withheld. (2) The xxxxxxx or Grievance Committee concerned shall obtain the permission of his supervisor before leaving his work, and such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. (3) The time away from productive work shall be reported in accordance with the timekeeping methods of the department concerned. (4) The Company reserves the right to limit such time if it deems the time taken to be excessive. (5) The payment of stewards or members of the Grievance Committee for processing grievances shall not include time spent in proceedings before an arbitrator. (b) The Company agrees that the Grievance Committee shall be paid at regular straight time hourly rates for all time spent in grievance meetings with the Company under the grievance procedure outside regularly scheduled hours of work. 5.05 Up to four (4) members of the Union Bargaining Committee will be compensated for time lost from their regular hours of work due to meetings held with Management for the negotiations of the renewal of this Agreement. Stewards and Grievance Committee. 2401 The Employer recognizes the right of the Union to designate chief stewards and stewards. The Employer will agree to such reasonable arrangements as will be necessary for the stewards to properly and expeditiously carry out their duties. Stewards shall not be recognized by the Employer until the Union has notified the Employer in writing of the selection of stewards. The Union will provide a list of all shop stewards to the Employer on a quarterly basis. 2402 The chief stewards and/or stewards before leaving their work to perform any of their Union duties and falling within the provisions of this Agreement, shall obtain permission from their immediate supervisor for absences from their normal work area and sign out in a register provided. Upon their arrival in the area to which their Union duties take them, they shall also notify the supervisor in the area being visited of their presence. Upon return back to their own work area, they shall report back to their immediate supervisor and sign in. Such visits are subject to all applicable clinical regulations and will be planned to provide a minimum of interference with employee's work. 2403 At the request of a xxxxxxx or Union representative, the facility administration shall make every reasonable effort to promptly provide a meeting room for the conduct of approved Union business. 2404 Conferences held between the Employer and the Union shall be at the time mutually agreeable to both and causing the least interference with the rendering of medical and supporting services to Employer's membership.

Grievance Committee members and stewards may investigate and process grievances during working hours without loss of pay with approval of the director responsible for Custodial, Maintenance, Grounds, and Carpentry (CMGC) or designee. Stewards and Grievance Committee. The Company agrees to recognize one Chief Xxxxxxx for each affiliated Union of the AEMTC. An alternate will be appointed by each affiliated Union to cover the absence or unavailability of a Chief Xxxxxxx. The Chief Stewards (or alternates) and the Chairperson of the Insurance/Pension Committee (or alternate) will be given time at regular rate of pay to handle Union business associated with grievances, issues related to this CBA, Company policies, on-site jurisdictional issues, and employee benefits. Chief Stewards will notify their supervisors as soon as possible prior to requiring release for Union business in order to help minimize schedule and work interruptions. Chief Stewards, the President and Secretary of the Council, , Grievance Committee and Insurance/Pension Committee, shall work the day shift Monday through Friday (except for the optional four (4) day work week schedule). Stewards and Grievance Committee. 5.01 The Employer acknowledges the right of the Union to appoint or otherwise select a reasonable number of Stewards to be limited to one (1) Xxxxxxx for each department, namely Nursing, Housekeeping, Kitchen and Maintenance, and a Grievance Committee to be composed of three (3) of the Stewards so elected or selected. The Employer shall be advised in writing of the names of the Stewards and members of the Grievance Committee and of any changes before the Employer will recognize them. 5.02 The grievance procedure shall be carried out as far as practicable outside regular working hours so as to reduce the loss of time and wages to a minimum. Payment for time lost during working hours in connection with a grievance will be paid only in cases where the Employer calls a meeting to discuss a grievance. 5.03 If the Union believes it is necessary for an employee to take time off during working hours for the investigation of a grievance or in an attempt to settle a grievance, the employee must arrange with his immediate supervisor to be off at a time which will least interfere with the work. The employee must have a pass signed by supervision which will indicate the amount of time lost.

Such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld and such absence shall be without loss of regular pay or seniority. The Board may refuse to grant such permission at any time if the privilege of requesting time off for the aforementioned purpose is being abused. When resuming their regular work they will report to their Department Head or Supervisor.
