Stewards and Grievance Committee. 5.01 The Company recognizes the right of the Union to appoint or otherwise select eight (8) stewards. All stewards and members of the grievance committee shall be regular employees of the Company and shall have completed their probationary period. In the absence of a xxxxxxx on a department shift, a Committee Member will be recognized by the Company. The Union agrees to give notice to the Company of such Committee Member where possible.

Stewards and Grievance Committee. 2401 The Employer recognizes the right of the Union to designate chief stewards and stewards. The Employer will agree to such reasonable arrangements as will be necessary for the stewards to properly and expeditiously carry out their duties. Stewards shall not be recognized by the Employer until the Union has notified the Employer in writing of the selection of stewards. The Union will provide a list of all shop stewards to the Employer on a quarterly basis. 2402 The chief stewards and/or stewards before leaving their work to perform any of their Union duties and falling within the provisions of this Agreement, shall obtain permission from their immediate supervisor for absences from their normal work area and sign out in a register provided. Upon their arrival in the area to which their Union duties take them, they shall also notify the supervisor in the area being visited of their presence. Upon return back to their own work area, they shall report back to their immediate supervisor and sign in. Such visits are subject to all applicable clinical regulations and will be planned to provide a minimum of interference with employee's work. 2403 At the request of a xxxxxxx or Union representative, the facility administration shall make every reasonable effort to promptly provide a meeting room for the conduct of approved Union business. 2404 Conferences held between the Employer and the Union shall be at the time mutually agreeable to both and causing the least interference with the rendering of medical and supporting services to Employer's membership.

Grievance Committee members and stewards may investigate and process grievances during working hours without loss of pay with approval of the director responsible for Custodial, Maintenance, Grounds, and Carpentry (CMGC) or designee. The employees' association representative during the month of January shall provide an annual list of employees serving as stewards, and a list of employees comprising the Grievance Committee to the superintendent and all CMGC employees.

Chief Stewards, the President and Secretary of the Council, , Grievance Committee and Insurance/Pension Committee, shall work the day shift Monday through Friday (except for the optional four (4) day work week schedule). During the period that an employee is holding the office as a Chief Xxxxxxx for the Union or is holding the office of President or Secretary of the Council, he shall be placed at the top of the seniority list of employees within his seniority group. At the end of his term of office, he shall be returned in seniority to his proper place on the seniority list as determined by Article V of this contract. The Company will not be required to lay off ex-Union officers and recall more senior employees who were laid off while the ex-Union officer was at the top of the seniority list. Council President and Recording Secretary shall not be transferred from their work area unless there is no work in their classification, which they can perform. The Company also agrees to recognize a Union Grievance Committee who shall be selected by the Union. The Union Grievance Committee will function in the adjustment of grievances. The Union shall notify the Company in writing of any changes in personnel of the Chief Stewards, President or Secretary of the Council, Grievance Committee and Insurance/Pension Committee.
