Training Captain. In order to take the promotional examination for Training Captain, an applicant shall be an employee of the Middletown Fire Department and shall have been a Shift Captain of the Middletown Fire Department for at least two and one half (2-1/2) years. In the event that there shall be less than three (3) Shift Captains taking any promotional exam for Training Captain, the same shall be open to all permanent employees of the Middletown Fire Department with at least seven and one half (7- 1/2) years service on the Middletown Fire Department as of the date of the written examination.
Training Captain. When certified and assigned to Training Captain.
Training Captain. The training Captain will oversee the rollout of the program. Responsibilities will include development of lesson plans and training on system use, continued build out of video content, evaluation and reporting on progress of the program, troubleshooting/adjustments, and coordination of work with the TargetSolutions’ vendor. It is anticipated that 50% of this person’s time will be dedicated to this project for the first year and 25% for the second year. Based on annual salary with fringe benefits of $133,050, the cost to the project will be $66,525 (1st year), $33,263 (2nd year). It is anticipated that approximately 45% of this person’s time will be dedicated to the project the first year and 5% in the second year. Installation cost for each of the 28 stations is $1,325. The expenses for installation will cover the time and materials used for physical installation and configuration of the network equipment, coordination with Comcast, transit time to the sites as required, and any additional time for contractors or other BTS teams as needed. Example of contractor or other BTS team time/tasks would include the installation of UPS devices, installation of new rack or mounting equipment. Training Captain. A line Pilot designated by the Company to conduct simulator or aircraft flight training. A Training Captain will not perform Supervisory Pilot duties.
Training Captain. Instructor means a person approved by the Company to conduct training. May hold a CASA Flight or Simulator Instructor Rating.
Training Captain. 54.1 The Fire Captain assigned to the Training and Safety Division shall work a 4/10 work schedule, 40 hours per week.
54.1.1 The Fire Captain assigned to the 40 hour position is an appointed position through competitive examination. Current Fire Captains or candidates from a certified list are eligible.
54.1.2 The appointment to the 40 hour position is for a minimum of two years unless otherwise approved by the Fire Chief.
54.2 The CITY has elected a 7-day work period for the Fire Captain assigned to the 40 hour position in the Training Division to comply with the FLSA. (See Article 22.2).
54.2.1 The Fire Captain assigned to the 40 hour position may work overtime shifts. Non scheduled overtime and emergency call back are subject to availability.
54.2.2 When the Fire Captain assigned to the Training Division works over 40 hours and less than 53 hours in a week performing training duties, pay will be at 1.5 times the base hourly rate. Hours worked over 53 in a week will be paid at the FLSA rate.
54.2.3 When the Fire Captain assigned to the Training Division works over 40 hours and less than 53 hours in a week, hours worked over 40 performing “on-shift” or suppression duties will be paid at straight time. Hours worked over 53 in a week will be paid at the FLSA rate.
54.2.4 The Fire Captain assigned to the 40 hour per week assignment in the Training Division is eligible to earn CTO for hours worked over 40 and less than 53 performing “on shift” suppression duties for assignments of 12 hours or less in duration. A Fire Captain in this assignment is not eligible to earn CTO for hours worked over 53 in a week. The limits on CTO credit which apply to Fire Inspectors shall apply to Fire Captains in this assignment. (See Article 16.2.2).
54.2.5 When the Fire Captain assigned to the Training Division is scheduled to work a relief Fire Captain shift, other overtime during the same work week must be approved by Fire Management.
54.3 The Fire Captain assigned to the 40 hour position in the Training Division shall be treated the same as other employees in the 40 hour classification covered by this Agreement with regards to benefits where there is a difference between 56 hour per week employees and 40 hour per week employees, unless different benefits are specifically spelled out in this Agreement.
Training Captain. 43.1 The Training Captain position shall report directly to the Fire Chief or designee. His/her primary responsibility shall be coordinating department training and serving as the Department's Health & Safety Officer. He/she shall have other training and safety responsibilities as directed by the Chief.
43.2 If during the term of this agreement the City establishes a training captain position (other than the current arrangement) the Union agrees to negotiate the impacts of the position with the City.
43.3 The position of Training Captain shall be assigned by seniority except as set forth below. On each occasion when the Training Captain position becomes available, the highest senior current Captain who has not yet held the position of Training Captain shall be given the first opportunity to fill the position. On the first occasion when a Captain is provided with the opportunity to fill the Training Captain position, the Captain xxx, on that occasion only, defer that opportunity. If unfilled because of deferral, then the position shall be filled by the next highest senior current Captain. If a Captain has previously exercised his or her right of deferral as provided for herein, then that Captain must fill the Training Captain position on the next occasion when the position becomes available. Notwithstanding the above language, a qualified Captain may serve as Training Captain if that employee volunteers for that duty. If volunteering, the Captain must serve in the position for two years. If, after that voluntary two year cycle, no other Captain volunteers to fill the position, the seniority selection process shall apply.
43.4 The duration of the position shall be for a minimum of two (2) years and may be extended for an additional one (1) year if mutually agreed upon by the Chief and Training Captain. Once a person has finished the allotted time he/she shall not be eligible again until all remaining Captains have rotated through.
Training Captain. 6.11.1 The Training Captain position is a two-year assignment filled through the bid process every other year. Fire Captains will be invited to submit a letter of interest, and the Fire Chief or their designee will interview the candidates and make a selection from among those who submitted a letter of interest. If no one submits a letter of interest, the Training Captain position will be filled by the most junior Fire Captain who has not previously served as the Training Captain. Fire Captains appointed as the Training Captain are required to perform the essential duties and satisfy the expectations of the assignment as set forth in the job description dated January 10, 2022. The Training Captain assignment can be extended after two years based on the employee’s request subject to the Fire Chief’s approval. The initial Training Captain assignment will be filled after the Department promotes a Fire Captain to fill the new budgeted position.
6.11.2 The Training Captain works a 40-hour schedule as set forth in Section 7.1 and is eligible for overtime shifts as described in Section 7.8.3 of this MOU.
6.11.3 The salary calculation for suppression personnel moving from a 56-hour position to a 40-hour position Fire Captain/Training Captain position (i.e., 40-hour employee) is as follows: the base annual salary is the same as a 56-hour employee, including 3 hours of Fire Staff Premium pay per bi-weekly pay period. The 40-hour employee also receives 6 hours per pay period of Holiday pay and continues to receive applicable paramedic and education incentive pays.
6.11.4 The Training Captain shall receive additional compensation that is equal to five percent (5.0%) of their base salary (training premium) while serving in the assignment.
Training Captain. The Training Captain position shall receive a ten percent (10%) premium base wage increase.
Training Captain. The Training Captain may be assigned to a modified work schedule for the purposes of conducting training functions related to the night drill program. The Training Captain may also be called upon to respond to emergency situations as identified in the job description on an "as available or requested basis." When assigned as Training Officer a Fire Captain will remain eligible to serve as a Company Officer for purposes of vacation or other relief, subject to his supervisor's approval.
