Care Days Sample Clauses

Care Days. (a) Regular full-time employees shall be entitled to accumulate care day credit the equivalent of one day for each month worked. Eligible regular part-time employees shall be entitled to accumulate care day credit the equivalent of one day for each 154 hours worked. If a regular full-time employee's start date is between the first and 15th day of the month inclusive, credit is given for a full month for the purpose of calculating care day accrual, otherwise care day credit will be calculated starting the first of the following month. There is no limit on care day accrual. Unused care days will accumulate for use, until depleted, as salary replacement benefits, at 100% of base salary during an approved short-term disability leave. After depletion of care days, salary shall be covered at 75% of wages up to a maximum of 26 weeks from the date of disability. (b) For the purposes of paragraphs (c), (d) and (e) below, care days may be used in the year in which they have been or are to be earned. Employees who complete only a part of a year due to termination of employment, leave or some other reason shall be required to reimburse Vancity for any overpayment received. (c) Care day credits may be used for personal illness. They may be used, no more than two consecutive days at one time, to provide care to an immediate family member suffering severe illness when the immediate family member is unable to take care of themselves and no other family member, adult resource or health care facility can provide the required emergency care. For the purpose of this use of care day credits, "immediate family" is defined in Article 19.1(b). (d) Care day credits may be used, no more than two consecutive days at one time, to provide emergency child care for a child with whom the employee is parenting to make child care arrangements. (e) Care day credits may be used, no more than two consecutive days at one time, to make elder care arrangements for a parent or grandparent. (f) Premium contribution arrangements for Pension Plan, RRSP and health benefits will remain intact during an employee's use of care days.
Care Days. The following applies instead of the right to take care days: The main rule is that care days will be paid according to the provision. Instead, care days may be paid as a supplement to the salary.

Care DaysA Teacher may be granted up to five (5) days leave per school year with no deduction of sick leave credit(s) where it is necessary for the Teacher to care for a child, parent or spouse. This includes paternity leave and adoption.

Care Days a) After ninety (90) consecutive days of employment with an Employer, an employee, each employee is entitled in each calendar year, to: i) six (6) paid days. ii) unpaid leave for up to three (3) days. b) If requested by the Employer, the employee must, as soon as practicable, provide to the Employer reasonably sufficient proof. c) The “average day’s pay” calculation will be in relation to the formula in the Act. d) The Act does not allow for “partial” sick days. Any time taken off on any day (even one hour) qualifies as one day for purposes of this section. e) It is mutually agreed and understood that care days shall be used for the following reasons: i) For illness of less than three (3) days; ii) For continuing illness that may carry over after Employment Insurance sick leave have run out; iii) Care for a child, spouse or parent; iv) Care days shall be used for the reasons above only and not as a cash bonus, extension to annual vacation, or floating day off. f) All employees shall accumulate care days from year to year to a maximum of nine (9) days.

(d) Employees shall be required to bank and carry forward a total of ten (10) accrued and unused care days at year end in order to coincide with the waiting period for Short Term Disability Insurance. Effective January 2, 2021, employees shall be required to bank and carry forward a total of five (5) accrued and unused care days at year end to coincide with the revised waiting period for Short Term Disability Insurance, which must be amended in alignment with the legislated changes to the wait period for Employment Insurance. (e) On January 31st of each year, an employee shall be entitled to one-half (½) days pay for each full care day of unused time accrued during the prior calendar year and which days exceed the banked limit of ten (10) days. (f) Upon termination an employee shall be entitled to one-half (½) days pay for each full day of accrued and unused care days. (g) A care day or part of a care day may be used by the employee for the following purposes: (i) personal illness (ii) the employee’s scheduled medical appointments (iii) to provide emergency child care for a child for whom the employee acts as a parent (iv) to provide emergency elder care for a parent (v) to provide emergency spousal care for a spouse. Where professionals are providing care, a care day is not to be used. (h) Where an employee takes only part of a care day, the actual time taken will be deducted from the employee’s care day entitlement. (i) An employee may draw up to five (5) care days in advance of earning them in any calendar year but in the event of termination of employment the amount paid to the employee but not earned will be deducted from the employee’s final pay.   • Leave Days 1. Each full-time teacher employed under regular contract shall be entitled to an annual allotment of thirteen (13) leave days. Such allotment shall be credited the first day of each school year and unused days shall be accumulated as sick leave to a total of one hundred eighty-two and one half (182.5) days. The teacher’s accumulated sick days may be used following use of 13 days and a doctor’s note with approval by Superintendent. Certificated staff with an accumulation of 182.5 days of accumulated sick leave shall be compensated at the end of each school year at the rate of the current daily certified substitute pay per each unused day above the 182.5 day accumulation. Such payments shall be made in July of each year. This money shall be placed in the teacher’s 403(b). If school corporation revenue in the Education Fund exceeds expenditures in the calendar year by an amount between $6,000 and $24,000, then the amount of that excess (minus compensation pay), not to exceed $18,000, shall be made available to fund a buyback of unused accumulated sick leave days on the following terms: Teachers shall have the option of selling up to ten (10) days, per round, of unused accumulated sick leave back to the school corporation at the daily rate of pay for a certified substitute teacher. This option will be offered to teachers in accordance with their seniority (total years of continuous service at Western Xxxxx) in the school corporation, with the teacher with the most seniority having priority to exercise the option, and it shall be available only to the extent of the total amount of money available as set forth above. Payment for these days shall be deposited in the individual teacher’s 403(b) plan, and upon payment those sick leave days shall no longer be available to the selling teacher. Said days must have been earned while the teacher has been employed in the school corporation. To participate in the program a teacher must maintain at all times a minimum balance of one hundred (100) days of accumulated sick leave. This method shall continue in successive rounds until the available money remaining less than daily rate of pay for a certified substitute teacher. If more money is available to the school corporation than is needed to fund the buy-backs exercised under this program, the school corporation may retain such money in its Education Fund. After selling a cumulative amount of eighty (80) days, teachers will receive a guaranteed buyback of any leave days over one hundred (100) remaining at the end of each school year. 2. A teacher employed under regular contract for only a portion of the school year shall be entitled to a proportional number of days (beginning the day they return to full-time status), and unused days shall be accumulative as specified herein. 3. Teachers shall be permitted to take one-half (1/2) day of paid leave which shall be recorded as one-half (1/2) day of paid leave. 4. Certificated staff may, in any academic year, utilize up to five (5) accumulated sick days for emergency family illness or injury (providing a written doctor’s note). The staff member must first use all 13 leave days and submit the request to the superintendent. These five days may be used for the medical emergency of only a spouse, children, mother, father, mother-in-law or father-in-law.

  • Snow Days ‌ If an employee after good faith efforts is unable to report to work for their scheduled duty period because of weather conditions, and if a disaster due to weather is declared by the governor or the Grand Traverse County Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, the employee at the employee's option may take a day's leave without pay or work on a pass day to make up the loss day, or may utilize an accumulated sick leave day or vacation day.

  • Sick Days All employees shall be entitled to two (2) paid sick days each calendar year, upon completion of six (6) months of employment with the Employer. Employees are entitled to one additional paid sick day for each completed five (5) year term of service with the Employer, to a maximum annual entitlement of five (5) paid sick days. Pay for sick days is equal to eight (8) hours at an employee’s regular hourly rate of pay. Sick days cannot be carried over or paid out if not used within the calendar year.

  • Professional Days The President of the College or the President’s designee may assign any faculty member up to seven (7) days during the academic year for scheduled orientation and registration programs, commencement and convocation activities and such other College sponsored activities the Present deems appropriate. Professional days shall be assigned no earlier than three (3) days prior to the first (1st) day of classes in the fall semester and no earlier than four (4) days prior to the first (1st) day of classes in the spring semester. Such duties and responsibilities may be assigned to individual faculty members in blocks in one-half (1/2) day or more; and provided further that a faculty member shall not be required to discharge these responsibilities over more than fourteen (14) days during the academic year.

  • Work Days The work day shall consist of an assigned shift within twenty-four (24) consecutive hours commencing at 12:01 a.m.

  • Days Unless specified otherwise, any period of days mandated under a Note or this Revenue Sharing Agreement shall be determined by reference to calendar days, not business days, except that any payments, notices, or other performance falling due on a Saturday, Sunday, or federal government holiday shall be considered timely if paid, given, or performed on the next succeeding business day.
