RETIRE/REHIRE. Section 1 For purposes of salary schedule placement, a bargaining unit member who has previously been employed by this and taken service retirement under an applicable state retirement system (known hereunder as a previously retired employee or “PRE”) shall be granted five (5) years’ service credit. The PRE shall remain at such step for the remainder of his or her employment in the District. In order to be eligible under this Article, the member must have retired from all positions held in the District.
Section 2 PREs shall be awarded one-year contracts of employment that shall automatically expire at the end of each school year without requirement for any performance evaluation and without any requirement of notice (written or otherwise) of non- renewal. PREs shall not retain or accrue seniority for purposes of job vacancies.
Section 3 PREs may be re-employed from year to year, with Board approval, but shall not be eligible for continuing contract status.
Section 4 For purposes of layoff, PREs shall not accrue seniority and shall have no right of recall.
Section 5 PREs shall not carry over any accumulated and unused sick leave from any prior employment.
Section 6 Current bargaining unit members who qualify for a retirement incentive payment under Article 38 prior to their re-employment as a PRE shall receive such payment in accordance with that provision and shall not forfeit such incentive payment by reason of their subsequent employment as a PRE. Once employed as a PRE, a member shall have no further eligibility for any retirement incentive, severance pay, or sick leave buyout pay upon their final separation from employment as a PRE.
Section 7 PREs shall not be eligible to participate in the Board’s insurance program offered to Association members under Articles 41-46 herein (health, dental, vision, prescription drug, life insurance, insurance waiver payments) unless they are ineligible to participate in the applicable state retirement system’s health plan. If, however, a PRE is eligible for coverage under a health plan provided by their spouse’s employer (either with or without premium contributions), they shall remain ineligible under the District plan. PREs who are ineligible for District coverage under this section may participate in the District plan at their own expense. PRE’s are not eligible for insurance waiver payments.

RETIRE/REHIRE. 1. The Board may elect to hire Highland teachers who are retired under the State Teachers Retirement System. Such teachers shall be granted a one-year limited contract only, which shall be automatically non-renewed, without following the evaluation process, further Board action or notice to the teacher. If the Board intends to rehire said employee in same position for additional year(s), posting of the position will not be necessary.
2. Retired teachers shall be placed at Step 4 in the Bachelor column on the teachers’ salary schedule. If rehired for a second or subsequent year, they shall remain at Step 4 in the Bachelor column.
3. Teachers hired under this section shall be eligible for all insurance benefits provided in Section 506 - C.
4. Teachers hired under this section shall not accrue seniority nor retain credit for seniority previously accumulated, and in the event of a reduction in force shall be deemed the least senior in their areas of licensure. Rehired teachers shall begin with a zero sick leave balance.
RETIRE/REHIRE. When a teacher retires and accepts the one-time retirement severance bonus as defined in the local section of this contract, a letter will be placed in their personnel file documenting the bonus was accepted. If the retired teacher is xxxxxxx, the retired/rehired teacher will give up all past system and school seniority as well as all unused sick days. The retired/rehired teacher will begin to accumulate sick days and seniority upon rehire.
RETIRE/REHIRE. 1. There shall be no guarantee of employment to Board employees who have retired. They will compete for employment with the general population.
RETIRE/REHIRE. 36.01 Board at its discretion may rehire a former employee who previously retired from the District.
36.02 Any employee who retires and is subsequently rehired will be placed at Step 5 on the applicable wage schedule. If reemployed following the initial year of reemployment, the employee will receive Step increments in accordance with normal practice.
36.03 Any employee who retires and is subsequently rehired will be placed at the bottom of the applicable seniority list, but will thereafter accrue seniority. However, in the event of a layoff the employee will be laid off first before any other employee in the applicable classification.
36.04 The employment of any employee rehired under this Article will automatically terminate at the end of that school year unless the Board reappoints the employee for the following school year. The employment of such a reappointed employee will similarly automatically terminate at the end of the school year unless the Board reappoints the employee for the following school year.
36.05 Nothing in this Article alters the Board’s obligation to comply with Section 3309.345 of the Ohio Revised Code if a retired employee is rehired for the same position. A rehired employee is not subject to any testing requirement under Article 15, Section 15.03 of this Agreement or otherwise.
RETIRE/REHIRE. 43.1 This Article governs the terms and conditions of employment of any retired teacher whom the Board chooses to regularly employ in a position that falls within the description of the bargaining unit appearing in Article 1.2 of this Agreement. To be eligible for hire under this article, the retiree must be a Highly Qualified Teacher or have the Highest State or National Trade Certificate Available in the area of instruction. Except as otherwise specified below, any such employee will become a bargaining unit member upon employment and be subject to the provisions of this Agreement.
43.2 For placement purposes on the teachers’ salary schedule, the employees will be placed in “class one (1)”. The Superintendent in connection with the Association President will determine the step placement ranging from 0 to 5. Retired/rehired employees will advance one step every two years. When a retired/rehired employee would reach Xxxxx 0, Xxxx 0, the employee could not advance any additional steps.
43.3 The employee will receive a one-year limited contract of employment (if employed after the start of the school year, such contract will be for the remainder of that school year). If subsequently reemployed, the employee will be awarded successive one-year limited contracts. In no event will the employee qualify for a continuing contract or a multi-year limited contract.
43.4 Neither the evaluation procedures in Article 8 of this Agreement nor the procedures appearing in Section 3319.111 of the Ohio Revised Code shall apply to the employee. The Board may choose to evaluate the employee but is not required to do so. Any limited contract received under 43.3 above will automatically nonrenew at the end of its term. The procedures appearing in Section 3319.11 of the Ohio Revised Code Section, including the post-nonrenewal procedures appearing in Section 3319.11(G), shall not apply to any such contract nonrenewal.
43.5 The employee will be credited with zero (0) years of seniority and shall not accrue seniority for any purpose.
4.6 The employee shall be eligible for a supplemental contract at the discretion of the Superintendent, but will in no event displace a qualified bargaining unit member from a supplemental position.
43.7 The employee shall be eligible for all leaves under this Agreement except that in no event will the employee be awarded a sabbatical leave.

RETIRE/REHIRE. 1. An employee who retires from the Board may be rehired by the Board, at the Board’s sole discretion.
2. Prior employment in the District is not a guarantee of post-retirement employment or a particular assignment, if re-hired.
3. A rehired employee will be granted a maximum of ten (10) years (Step 9) service credit at the Superintendent’s sole discretion for purposes of salary schedule placement.
4. A rehired employee may not advance beyond the step at which they were hired.
5. A rehired employee will be awarded a one-year contract of employment that will automatically expire at the end of the applicable school year. This one year contract does not guarantee the awarding of another one year contract to the rehired employee.
6. A retired employee may be re-employed from year to year, with Board approval, but shall not be eligible for continuing contract status, and will not advance on the salary schedule if re-employed from year to year.
7. For purposes of Reduction in Force, a rehired employee will be the first to be reduced and shall have no seniority, will gain no seniority, and loses all previously accumulated seniority upon rehiring.
8. A rehired employee is not eligible to bid on job vacancies under Article 12.
9. A rehired employee is not eligible to participate in a retirement incentive program, if any, or for severance pay upon separation from employment.
10. A rehired employee is eligible to carry-forward a sick leave balance from year to year up to 30 days (2 years). The sick leave bank does not apply to rehired employees. Three days of personal leave will be granted per year with no payout of unused days.
11. A rehired employee (260 day) is eligible for vacation leave at ten (10) days per year. Cash payments will not be made for unused vacation at the end of the year.
12. A rehired employee may be evaluated pursuant to Article 35, at the Superintendent’s sole discretion.
13. As per SERS regulations/policies, an employee who is rehired by the District is “ineligible” for insurance through SERS. In other words, if an employee is rehired by the District, SERS will not carry insurance for that employee.
14. The procedures in this Article supersede and take the place of any and all provisions in the ORC which may conflict with this Article, including but not limited to the non-renewal and continuing contract provisions, the evaluation provisions, the layoff provisions, the severance provisions, and the vacation leave provisions.
RETIRE/REHIRE. 24.01 For purposes of this Article, a previously retired employee or “PRE” is an individual who has attained service retirement status with the State Teachers Retirement System, is otherwise qualified by certification/licensure for public school teaching in Ohio, and who has retired from the Firelands School District.
24.02 Only those individuals formerly employed by the Firelands School District shall be considered for PRE positions.
24.03 A PRE formerly employed as a teacher by the District shall be paid at a rate of pay based on his/her academic training level at Step 0 of the salary schedule. The PRE shall remain at Step 0 for the remainder of his or her employment in the District, excluding additional hours beyond said training.
24.04 A PRE shall be awarded a one-year limited contract of employment which shall automatically expire at the end of each school year without requirement for any performance evaluation and without any requirement of notice (written or otherwise) of non- renewal.
24.05 Continuation of the employment of a PRE through offering a new one (1) year limited contract which automatically expires shall be at the election of the Board and upon recommendation of the Superintendent. A PRE shall not be eligible for a continuing teaching contract.
RETIRE/REHIRE. The Oregon Board of Education is under no obligation to employ any retired classified staff member and, further, there is no expectation of continued employment or re-employment when a bargaining unit member retires from the Oregon City School District. The Superintendent/designee shall inform the bargaining unit member in writing whether or not they will recommend rehiring the bargaining unit member to the Board of Education.
RETIRE/REHIRE. Any employee hired after retirement will be placed at step 0 of the appropriate salary schedule and will not progress.
