VACATION SELECTION PROCEDURE. The straight seniority vacation (List “A”) allows two vacation spots per shift. Personnel by straight seniority may select one of the two slots for their vacation or they may choose to defer to the seniority in rank list. Seniority in Rank List (List “B”) allows two vacation spots per shift. After everyone has had the opportunity to select vacation on the straight seniority list, those who choose to defer their vacation pick to the seniority in rank list may pick any open vacation block. Once the vacation scheduling is completed, all days picked thereafter will be on a first-come basis.

VACATION SELECTION PROCEDURE. In order to assure everyone’s right by seniority for vacations and the normal operations of the Employer, the following procedure shall apply: 1) Vacations shall be scheduled commencing January 1st to March 31st of each year. 2) This process will be completed by April 30th and employees who have not selected vacation time by this date will have their vacations scheduled by management. Employees not granted all or part of their requested vacation time will be contacted by the Employer to arrange alternate available vacation time pursuant to Article 22.10(4) below. 3) The vacation schedule shall be posted and requests for vacation will be signed by Management and a copy returned to the applicant. 4) Employees shall indicate their first and alternate choices of vacation time on their application. Should a time become available after the completion of the initial schedule, the employer shall review the schedule and attempt to provide employees with their alternate choice by seniority. 5) Notwithstanding the reference to Industry Payroll Year in other clauses of this Article Annual holiday, the vacation selection procedure shall continue to operate on the basis of the calendar year.
VACATION SELECTION PROCEDURE. For choice of vacation, once a vacation list is posted, the first full week of January is al- lowed for the top 25% to select in seniority order; the second week of January for the second 25% to select in seniority order; the third week of January for the third 25% to select in seniority order; and the fourth week of January for the fourth 25% to select in seniority order. Those not signing up in their scheduled week shall lose their choice of vacation and must take what is left.

The Company shall attempt to accommodate employees with respect to their requests Vacation shall be granted on the basis of seniority by classification subject to maintaining adequate staffing level in the classifications (Technicians subject to specialties in 19.08) and departments involved. Vacation shall be granted on the basis of seniority. The final vacation schedule will be posted by April 30th. Vacations not requested by April 15th will be granted on a first come first serve basis, on the principle of seniority, when two (2) or more employees apply, not to conflict with those already scheduled.
VACATION SELECTION PROCEDURE. (A) The order of selection of annual vacation shall be based solely on respective department seniority, by shift, irrespective of rank or job description. (B) With the exception of C below, the maximum number of suppression personnel eligible to be on vacation at any one time shall be one (1) Firefighter/Firefighter Paramedic and one (1) Engineer or Captain per shift. (C) Overlap in vacations will be allowed only for those shifts in excess of the maximum number of vacation shifts per year. (For example, if B shift works one hundred and twenty one (121) shifts in a given year and the number of eligible vacation shifts to be taken by employees is one hundred twenty eight (128) shifts, then the number of overlap shifts for B shift that calendar year is seven (7). (D) The Platoon Battalion Chief will establish the number of overlap shifts prior to vacation selection. This process consists of determining the total number of personnel, assigned to any given shift times the total number of shifts each employee has accrued for that given year. This number equals the total vacation days required per shift. The City retains the right to adjust selected vacation shifts for the purpose of maximizing contiguous vacation opportunities for the most junior employees of the Department. (E) Vacation selection may be taken as one vacation period or be split between two or more vacation periods. If the employee elects to split vacation, the second and subsequent selections will be made on a round-xxxxx basis. (F) For purposes of vacation, seniority will be determined by the date of service. When more than one person has the same hire date, seniority will be determined by their placement on the employment list with the exception of those employed prior to the date of this amendment where other basis for seniority has previously been agreed upon. (G) Subsequent to the establishment of the vacation list, an employee may trade vacation periods when mutually agreeable, when reasonable written notice has been provided to the Department, subject to the approval of the Fire Chief when considering the operational needs of the Department. (H) Selection of additional vacation days may be granted by the Battalion Chief, if available, provided all employees of that shift have picked at least one (1) round of vacation. VACATION SELECTION PROCEDURE a) A blank schedule shall be posted by March 1st (for July 1- November 30th) and September 1st (for December 1-June 30). The schedule will be posted with a date for each employee to come into the office, phone or email their dates for their requests for vacation. Appropriate arrangements will be made for those employees who are on leave. The employee must bring their preferred dates and alternative dates for vacation choice on the day specified. The employee will be contacted within 2 hours by the method they chose on the date they were given. If any requests are turned down they must immediately give their alternative dates. Failure to do so would result in the employee forfeiting their alternative choices until all of the vacation canvassing is finished. After the selection process is finished vacation will be granted on a first come first serve basis b) Vacation schedules shall be posted by May 1st and November 1st each year and shall not be changed unless mutually agreed to by the employees involved and the Employer. In order to be considered for a change in approved vacation, an employee must submit a written request at least thirty (30) calendar days in advance and disclose the extenuating circumstances justifying the change. The Employer will consider such extenuating circumstances on an individual basis. The Employer will answer the employee’s request within ten (10) calendar days of such request. c) No vacations will be scheduled between December 15th and the 1st Monday following January 3rd, unless otherwise mutually agreed.

Open one (1) week vacation time slots shall be made available for single day vacation 21 picks. 22 6. Single day vacation picks shall be in order of seniority on a rotating basis. 23 7. Shift or day-off (Xxxxx) number changes as a result of personnel re-alignment or 24 promotion, after vacation pick(s) are finalized, shall not affect the employee’s 25 vacation pick(s).

VACATION SELECTION PROCEDURE. For choice of vacation, once a vacation list is posted, the first full week of January is allowed for the top 25% to select in seniority order; the second week of January for the second 25%; the third week of January for the third 25% to select in seniority order; and the fourth 25% to select the fourth week of January. Those not signing up in their scheduled week shall lose their choice of vacation and must take what is left. Vacation period shall be defined as February 1st through the week of Thanksgiving and December 26th through January 31st of the following year. By seniority and classification, a minimum of fifteen percent (15%) of the eligible members in each package center shall be allowed time off for earned vacation per week during the vacation period described above. Earned vacations, for the vacation period scheduled, shall be paid for during the week prior to the date the vacation is taken. Employee’s who have earned vacation weeks not selected during the vacation selection period, may select at a later date by mutual agreement, for the available time not selected or may elect to sell back those unscheduled weeks at any time. The maximum number of weeks for sell back shall be limited to two (2) weeks. Vacation pay shall be paid on a separate check. The Employer shall not allow any employee to work a vacation week which has been selected during the vacation selection period or to work a vacation week which has been selected at a later date by mutual agree- ment. Vacation weeks earned during the current vacation period, declared for sell back, shall be paid two (2) weeks after the employee’s anniversary date of hire. Vacation pay shall be paid on a separate check. After one (1) year of seniority, vacation allowances will be pro-rated on a monthly basis and paid in the event of separa- tion from the Company. An employee who retires from the Company, and is entitled to receive payment for pro-rated unused vacation, shall also be paid a separate additional cash payment equal to the total pension contributions which the Company would have been required to make on behalf of the employee had the employee utilized all accumulated unused vacation prior to retiring (i.e. the number of pro-rated unused vacation hours multiplied by the hourly pension contribution rate in effect at the time of payment as illustrated in the following exam- ple - 40 hours x $6.60 per hour = $264.00).
