Hours of Work - Part-time Employees. A part-time employee of the Board shall be allowed to work up to 24 hours per week at more than one location in the Board and gain seniority for same, provided: (a) that at no time will the two positions be interpreted as a single position; (b) that any difficulties in scheduling may, at the discretion of the appropriate principal, cause the incumbent to relinquish one of the part-time positions; (c) that any increase in hours that results in the accumulated hours of the two positions exceeding 24 hours, the incumbent shall relinquish one of the part-time positions.
Hours of Work - Part-time Employees. (a) Part-time employees who indicate an interest in working additional hours shall be offered casual shifts that are available within their classification, provided they are qualified to do the work, and provided it will not result in overtime pay. The call-in procedure will apply. These hours shall be credited to regular seniority. (b) Clause 11.3(b) (Casual Employee Availability) shall apply to permanent part-time employees who have indicated their availability to work casual shift hours. It is understood that Clause 11.3(b) shall only apply for those shifts and not the employee's regularly scheduled shifts.
Hours of Work - Part-time Employees. The arrangement of hours of work for a part-time Employee will be implemented as follows: (a) That a part-time employee is an employee who will work fewer than thirty-eight (38) ordinary hours per week. (b) The Employer will provide a part time employee, in writing, their ordinary hours of work specifying the numbers of hours worked each day, which days of the week the employee will work and the actual starting and finishing times each day. These hours can be altered by mutual agreement in writing. Any work in addition to the agreed hours will paid at overtime rates. (c) A part time Employee may by mutual agreement with the Employer agree to work extra non- rostered ordinary time hours up to the ordinary daily or weekly maximums, provided that the daily or weekly maximum is not exceed, without the payment of overtime. A part-time Employee can elect to provide written standing consent to vary their regular pattern of work in order to work additional ordinary hours, provided such standing consent may be withdrawn by the Employee at any time. (To avoid doubt, an Employee who provides standing consent can still verbally refuse to work additional hours when offered on any occasion). (d) A minimum engagement of 4 hours per shift and a maximum of 10 ordinary hours per shift, provided that a driver shall work a maximum of 8 ordinary hours per day (provided that a driver engaged at Grade 3 Level 2 will have a maximum of 10 ordinary hours per day). (e) All ordinary hours for part time day workers are to be worked between: i. 6.00 am until 6.30 pm Monday to Sunday for storepersons. ii. 4.30 am (or 4.00 am for drivers engaged at Grade 2 Level 3 of above) until 7.30 pm Monday to Sunday for drivers. iii. 6.00 am and 8.00 pm Sunday to Friday and 6.00 am and 1.30 pm Saturday for clerks or telephone sales clerks. Provided that where a Clerk works in association with other classes of employees who work ordinary hours outside the spread prescribed by this clause, the hours during which ordinary hours may be worked are as prescribed by the ordinary hours applying to the majority of the employees in the workplace.
Hours of Work - Part-time Employees. (i) Part-time employees shall not be scheduled by the Employer for less than three (3) hours in any shift. After his/her regularly scheduled hours up to equivalent full time hours, part-time employees shall be paid the sum of thirty (30) cents per hour in addition to his/her regular hourly rate. (ii) On an annual basis, part-time employees will advise their Employer in writing of their desire to work additional shifts up to equivalent full-time hours. These part-time employees shall be placed on the temporary recall list and recalled in accordance with seniority for those additional shifts. Clause 17.01 (d)(i) will not apply to these additional hours worked by the part-time employees.

Hours of Work - Part-time Employees. (a) Part-time employment – Part-time employees shall be engaged for a minimum of sixteen hours and a maximum of thirty-eight hours in any one week and shall work on not more than five days in any one week. Part-time employees shall work a minimum of three hours on any one day and a maximum of ten hours on any one day. The hours of work shall not necessarily be continuous subject to clause 6.4 (Meal Breaks and Rest Pauses). (b) A part-time employee shall be paid at the rate of one thirty-eighth of the weekly rate prescribed for the class of work performed. (c) Existing part-time employees employed before this Agreement, who do not work a set number of hours per week, shall be paid at the rate of one thirty-eighth of the weekly rate prescribed for the class of work performed, plus an all purpose loading of ten percent. Such all purpose loading shall not apply to work performed on Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays or overtime. (d) A part-time employee who works in excess of the ordinary daily or weekly hours prescribed in Clause 6.2.1 (a) shall be entitled to be paid overtime in accordance with clause 6.5 (Overtime). (e) Part-time employees shall be entitled to receive pro rata entitlements to annual leave, sick leave, bereavement leave and long service leave in accordance with the provisions contained in this Agreement. Where a part-time employee is normally rostered to work on a day in which a public holiday occurs and the employee is not required to work payment shall be made for the three (3) ordinary hours. (a) All provisions of this Agreement not expressly varied by this clause shall have application to part-time employees.

(b) Subject to operational requirements, any one part-time position shall normally be consecutive hours with no split shifts.
Hours of Work - Part-time Employees. (a) A part-time employee shall not be regularly employed for more than forty (40) hours over a two (2) week period. Part time employees shall be scheduled primarily in the evening and on weekends and to fill in for full time employees, or at any other time, as required. (b) Distribution of Shifts Hours of work for part-time employees shall be distributed equitably on the basis of seniority amongst employees available and qualified to perform the work. No shift shall be less than three (3) hours unless by mutual agreement between the parties to this Collective Agreement. (c) A regular work schedule shall be determined by the Head Librarian. The employee shall, whenever possible, be given reasonable notice where the work schedule is altered temporarily or permanently. Employees shall be scheduled to have at least two (2) Saturdays in every four (4) off duty, unless mutually agreed to. (d) It is understood and agreed that an employee will not be required to work more than fourteen (14) Sundays in a calendar year, subject to a minimum part-time staff complement of twelve (12) circulation clerks and eight (8) information staff. Should the part-time complement fall below these numbers, the remaining part- time staff may be required to work additional Sundays to ensure adequate provision of service. Nothing in this Article will preclude an employee from working more than fourteen (14) Sundays in a calendar year by mutual agreement. (e) If an employee elects to hold two part-time positions, the employee shall not exceed forty (40) hours in a two week period, but will be required to work the requisite number of Sundays for each position as stated in this collective agreement.
Hours of Work - Part-time Employees. (a) The Employer and the Employee will agree in writing on a regular pattern of work, specifying at least the hours worked each day, which days of the week the employee will work and the actual starting and finishing times each day. (b) A part-time Employee will be paid for the hours worked each week on an hour for hour basis. The Employer and the Employee may agree in writing to extend the ordinary hours of work up to the daily or weekly maximums; (c) A minimum of 15 hours per week and less than 38 ordinary hours a week; (d) All ordinary hours are to be worked with a minimum of 3 hours per shift and a maximum of 10 hours per day, provided that an Employee and the Employer may agree to work up to 12 ordinary hours per day; and (e) All ordinary hours are to be worked any hours Monday to Sunday; and (f) Regardless of the above where a provision of the Award allows for the Employer and a part time Employee to agree to alter their hours of work so will this Agreement.
