Meals and Rest Breaks. All meal and rest periods are to be in compliance with California Industrial Welfare Commission Order #16.

Meals and Rest Breaks. On any day in which you are scheduled for more than 5 hours of work you will also be scheduled for a meal period. You are expected to begin this meal period as near as possible to its scheduled time, and required to take no less than 30 minutes for the period. On days in which you are scheduled for no more than 6 hours of work you may voluntarily agree to waive your meal period. Meal periods do not count as worked time, and are not compensated. You also will be authorized and permitted to take ten-minute paid rest breaks for every four hours worked or major fraction thereof (over two hours). Typically, in an 8-hour day, this will mean taking one break in the morning and another in the afternoon. These rest breaks will be scheduled breaks, and you should take them as near as possible to their scheduled time. Rest breaks count as compensable time. Time spent on breaks in excess of twenty minutes per day (or ten minutes per day for shifts under six hours) is not compensated. It is your responsibility to accurately log your rest breaks and meal periods according to instructions you will receive during training.
Meals and Rest Breaks. MPI will provide employees with a reasonable opportunity, during the employee’s work period, for rest, refreshment, and attention to personal matters. The breaks are all uninterrupted. NB: For the purpose of this clause/table alone “work period” includes all paid and unpaid breaks as specified above. An employee is generally expected to manage their work so as to ensure they have the following breaks and achieve what is required of them: • A meal break of between 30 and 60 minutes about the middle of the period of work for the day at an agreed convenient time; • [a] paid break/s of about 10 minutes at an agreed convenient time between the parties. Where Category B employees are rostered for a period of duty of 11 hours and 25 minutes, one paid meal breaks of thirty minutes duration will be notified to them on the daily work allocation sheet. A second paid break of thirty minutes being 3x10 minute paid rest breaks will also be notified. The first between two and four hours of commencement of duty; the second four hours after the end of the first break. Employees will not normally be required to work for more than 5 hours continuously without being relieved from duty for a meal period of between 30 and 60 minutes.
Meals and Rest Breaks. A member is entitled to meal and rest breaks for a period not to exceed one (1) hour for each eight (8) hours worked. Work periods for less than four (4) hours do not entitle a member to a break. Extended work periods of twelve (12) or more hours entitle a member to an additional half (1/2) hour break for each four (4) hours period in excess of eight (8) hours. Breaks shall be taken at times acceptable to shift supervisors and are subject to cancellation or interruption because of emergencies or staff shortages. The member shall be entitled to resume the break at the next opportunity to do so and at the shift supervisor's discretion.
Meals and Rest Breaks. Employees shall normally be permitted two (2) fifteen minute rest breaks per shift, when they can be taken without a serious interference with the work at hand. Patrol Division employees will normally be permitted to take a paid thirty (30) minute lunch period when released by the supervisor. Detectives and administrative personnel covered by this Agreement will have a one hour unpaid lunch.
