In the event that the Provincial Government declares an additional holiday (such as Heritage Day) during the term of this Agreement such holiday will be substituted for one of the above-mentioned holidays. Such designation shall not add to the present number of holidays. Where an employee is entitled to a lieu day under Article 24.01 or 24.03, such day off must be taken at a mutually agreeable time within ninety (90) days following the holiday or payment will be made in accordance with Article 24.01.

Pre-booked lieu time will be scheduled in accordance with the timeframes listing in Article I.(2) b) Upon signing of the Letter of Agreement, the parties agree that the requirement for the parties to xxxxx xxxx time on a “at a day and time mutually agreeable between the employee and the manager” (per Article I.(2) c) has been satisfied.

PAID HOLIDAYS (FULL-TIME ONLY). 19.01 Effective January 1, 2000, an employee who has completed thirty (30) days of employment and otherwise qualifies under this Agreement shall receive the following Paid Holidays. 19.02 Should the Employer be required to observe additional Paid Holidays as a result of legislation, it is understood that one of the existing holidays recognized by the Employer shall be established as the legislated holiday after discussion with the Union, so that the Employer’s obligation to provide for twelve (12) Paid Holidays remains unchanged. 19.03 Holiday pay is defined as the amount of regular straight time, hourly pay (7.5) hours exclusive of shift premium which an employee would have received had he worked a normal shift on the holiday in question. In order to qualify for pay on a holiday, an employee shall complete a full Scheduled shift on each of his working clays immediately preceding and immediately following the holiday concerned unless the employee was absent due to: (a) verified illness or accident which commenced in the current: or previous pay period in which the holiday occurred; layoff for a period not exceeding five (5) calendar days, inclusive of the holiday; (c) an authorized leave of absence for a period not exceeding five (5) calendar days, inclusive of the holiday; vacation granted by the Employer;
PAID HOLIDAYS (FULL-TIME ONLY)Where an employee is entitled to a lieu day off with pay, such time off must be taken by March 31 of the following calendar year in which it was earned, or the employee shall be paid for the lieu day at their regular rate of pay. Subject to the scheduling of requests for vacation received prior to February 1, requests for time off under this article shall be considered on a first come first served basis. Such requests shall be made in writing as far in advance as possible except in extenuating circumstances. A response in writing to such request will be provided within a maximum of fourteen

  • Paid Holidays – Long Weekends (a) When an employee is scheduled to work a weekend where a paid holiday falls on the Monday or the Friday, the Employer shall endeavour to also schedule the employee to work the paid holiday. (b) When the employee is scheduled off on a weekend where a paid holiday falls on the Monday or the Friday, the Employer shall endeavour to schedule the employee off the paid holiday. (c) In the event of a scheduling conflict, 12.07 (a) will be the deciding provision.

  • PAID HOLIDAYS 12.01 The following days are recognized as holidays under this Agreement: New Year's Day Family Day Good Friday Easter Sunday Victoria Day Canada Day Civic Holiday Labour Day Thanksgiving Day Remembrance Day Boxing Day Christmas Day 12.02 Full-time employees required to work on a paid holiday shall have the option of either: (a) Pay at the rate of two times (2x) the employee's regular rate of pay for work performed on such holiday, in addition to the employee's regular pay, or (b) Pay at the rate of two times (2x) the employee's regular rate for work performed on such holiday and an alternate day off with pay at a time that is mutually agreed upon between the Employer and the employee. The alternate day off is to be taken within six (6) months after the holiday upon mutual agreement between the Employer and Employee. 12.03 If a paid holiday falls within a full-time employee’s normal schedule/rotation they shall have the option to either work the holiday with the appropriate pay or to request the holiday off, subject to operational requirements. Requests for the holiday off must be made prior to the work schedule being posted for that period. 12.04 In order to qualify for pay for a holiday, an employee shall complete her full shift on each of the scheduled working days immediately preceding and following the holiday concerned unless excused by the Employer or the employee was absent due to: (a) approved sick leave; (b) vacation granted by the Employer; (c) the employee's regular scheduled day off; (d) a paid leave of absence provided the employee is not otherwise compensated for the holiday. (a) Where a holiday falls on an employee's scheduled day off, an additional day off with pay will be scheduled at a mutually acceptable time. (b) Where a holiday falls during an employee's scheduled vacation period, her vacation shall be extended by one (1) day unless the employee and the Employer agree to schedule a different day off with pay. 12.06 A tour that begins or ends during the twenty-four (24) hour period of the above holidays, where the majority of hours worked falls within the holiday, shall be deemed to be work performed on the holiday for the full period of the tour.

  • Worked Holidays Employees who are required to work on the above-named holidays shall receive the pay due them for the holiday, plus double their base rate for all hours worked on such holiday, plus shift differential and Cost of Living Adjustment, if applicable, unless the employee starts to work at 10:00 P.M., or thereafter on that day.

  • Overtime Holidays Double time the regular rate for work on the following holiday(s). New Year's Day

  • Weekend Holidays 9.3.1. A full-time employee who works a Monday through Friday schedule and the calendar holiday falls on a Saturday, the employee shall be allowed the preceding day off. When a holiday falls on a Sunday, the employee shall be allowed the following day off. If the employee works the day preceding or following such a holiday, he/she shall be given another workday off with pay or shall receive payment for that day at the regular rate. 9.3.2. A full-time employee who works other than a Monday through Friday schedule and who is not scheduled to work on a calendar holiday shall be given at the discretion of the Employer (1) another scheduled workday off with pay, or (2) an additional day's pay at his/her regular rate if funds are available.

  • HOLIDAYS AND HOLIDAY PAY 165. 1. A holiday is calculated based on an eight hour day. The following days are designated as holidays: January 1 ( New Year's Day) the third Monday in January (Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Xxxx, Xx.'s birthday) the third Monday in February (Presidents' Day) the last Monday in May (Memorial Day) July 4 (Independence Day) the first Monday in September (Labor Day) the second Monday in October (Columbus Day) November 11 (Veterans' Day) Thanksgiving Day the day after Thanksgiving December 25 (Christmas Day) 166. Provided further, if January 1, July 4, November 11 or December 25 falls on a Sunday, the Monday following is a holiday.

  • Work on Holidays An employee who is required to work, or works with prior approval, any part of a holiday shall receive holiday compensatory time for up to eight (8) hours, on an hour for hour basis, for the actual non-overtime hours worked in addition to their regular rate of pay. An employee who works overtime on a holiday shall be compensated in accordance with all applicable pay and overtime provisions. An employee must use holiday compensatory time within one (1) year after having accrued that time.

  • Holidays Worked When an employee works on a calendar holiday, he/she shall receive payment of the holiday at the regular rate and in addition, at the discretion of the Employer, (1) be paid at the rate of time and one half for hours actually worked on the holiday or (2) be given compensatory time off equal to one and one half the number of hours actually worked.

  • OVERTIME AND HOLIDAY PAY 5.3.1 All hours worked by an employee in excess of eight (8) hours per shift and in excess of forty (40) straight time hours per week shall be paid for at the rate of one and one-half times the straight time rate. All hours worked by an employee in excess of ten (10) hours per shift and all hours worked on Sunday shall be paid at the rate of double the straight time rate. 5.3.2 Additional holidays recognized in the Construction Industry in each geographical area will be observed on all work covered by this Appendix.

  • Weekdays All work performed outside of the designated shift Monday through Friday shall be paid at time and one-half (1-1/2) the straight-time hourly wage rate.
