Per Diem Employee. An employee employed to work on an intermittent basis or to supplement the regular work force on a scheduled or unscheduled basis to provide coverage for emergencies, employee, absenteeism or other unexpected events after full-time and part-time employees are scheduled for their assigned FTE. Per Diem employees must as a condition of employment agree to work with sufficient frequency to maintain the skills of their position and to meet the needs of their work unit as determined by the Employer.
5.3.1 All Per Diem caregivers must make themselves available for at least one of the following Winter Holidays; Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and/or Christmas.
Per Diem Employee. An employee who works on a day-to-day basis as needed by the University and who does not fall under the classification of Full Time or Part Time, except that employees who were hired as Per Diem prior to the effective date of this Agreement but who fit the definition of Part Time employee shall remain classified as Per Diem. Per Diem employees are not entitled to any benefits under this Agreement except where they are specifically provided for.
Per Diem Employee. An employee classified without an assigned FTE who is hired to work on an intermittent basis or during any period when additional work of any nature requires a temporarily augmented work force or in the event of an emergency, or to relieve regular employees because of illness, leave of absence, or to work during holidays or vacation periods. Per diem staff shall be paid in accordance with the wage rates set forth in Article 12, Compensation of this Agreement plus a fifteen percent (15%) wage differential in lieu of benefits. Per diem staff shall receive longevity steps and shall be eligible for standby, callback, shift differentials, lead pay, preceptor pay, weekend premium pay, certification pay and continuing education and professional development expenses. Seniority shall accrue based upon all hours worked but shall not be applicable during employment as a per diem employee. After return to or upon acquiring full-time or part-time status, any prior benefit accruals shall be reinstated for benefit eligibility purposes. Per diem staff may be pre-scheduled for a shift, but only after regularly scheduled staff assigned to that unit have had the opportunity to sign up for additional (non-overtime) shift(s). Per diem staff will not be regularly utilized in lieu of filling or creating regular full-time and/or part-time positions. In the event of low census, per diem staff will be cancelled in accordance with Article 11.4.1
Per Diem Employee. A per diem employee is an employee who is hired to work on an irregular basis, as an interim replacement for a regular employee, or for temporary work which does not extend beyond four (4) calendar months. Per diem employees must be available to work at least five (5) scheduled shifts each month, including one (1) of three summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, or Labor Day), and one (1) of three (3) winter holidays (Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, or New Year’s Day). Per diems must work at least two (2) shifts per month period if offered on dates when the per diems state they are available. If a per diem fails to work such shifts, the per diem may be administratively terminated. Per diem employees must indicate their availability at least ten (10) days prior to the posting of the monthly work schedule, and one of those available days must be an open shift after regular employees have been preliminarily scheduled. Per diem employees may satisfy the availability/working requirements discussed above over a six (6) month period, with the approval of a Chief Executive, by making a request to a Department Manager. If a per diem employee has been granted such an exception and does not work for a period of 60 days or longer, a manager may request a competency orientation upon the employee’s return to work. A per diem employee employed continuously for ten (10) hours or more per week over a four (4) calendar month period shall be reclassified as a regular part-time or full-time employee with the following exceptions:
a. A per diem employee hired to replace a regular employee on sick leave or other leave of absence and/or vacation covered by this Agreement may be retained on per diem status for the duration of the leave of absence. Per diem employees will be notified by the Hospital in writing of or expected duration of a leave of absence, if known.
b. A per diem employee who does not wish reclassification as a regular employee and employees temporarily hired for vacation relief may obtain a waiver of the "120 day" classification provision by written agreement between the Union and the Hospital.
c. A per diem employee will not be regularly utilized to fill part-time or full-time positions, except as provided in paragraphs a and b above. This provision shall not prevent or limit the Hospital's right to schedule per diem employees to participate in bona fide training programs. Per Diem Employee. Per diem employees shall include employees scheduled on an “on-call” basis.
Per Diem Employee. An employee who works on a day-to-day basis as needed by the Hospital and who does not fall under the classification of Full Time or Part Time, except that employees who were hired as Per Diem prior to the effective date of this Agreement but who fit the definition of Part Time employee shall remain classified as Per Diem. Per Diem employees are not entitled to any benefits under this Agreement except where they are specifically provided for. Per Diem employees shall not be subject to “progressive discipline” (ie. the obligation to progress from written warning to suspension to termination). Rather, Per Diem employees may be disciplined at any level up to and including, termination, at any time. The Union may grieve such discipline at Step II, however, the decision of the Hearing Officer shall be final and binding and not subject to arbitration.
Per Diem Employee. An employee who works on an intermittent or unscheduled basis. Per diem employees do not earn seniority. Per Diems will provide availability every month with a minimum of sixteen (16) hours per month, one weekend shift per quarter and two (2) holidays per year (one winter time and one summer time).

Per Diem Employee. A Per Diem Employee is an Employee who is not a Regular full-time or, Regular part-time I or Part-time 2 Employee. Per Diem Employees do not receive any insurance, retirement or other fringe benefits under this Agreement, including without limitation Paid Time Off Plan benefits or other benefits as defined in Article 15 except that Per Diem Employees shall be eligible for participation in the Xxxxx 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan as allowed under the plan.
